In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Looking for some info if anyones got the time!!

The tail curling is just a typical "I'm ready to go" stance, they usually do it while running around and stuff. About the water bowl, make sure that they don't sleep in it, if they do, they may get too cold, and problems could arise. Dragons often lick stuff, some more than others. You can probably see them, if you watch long enough, licking their log, rock and eachother, well actually they lick pretty much everything (at least my adults do, especially the male). Those temps will work for now, but you should definitely get something more accurate to measure them with. If it says 90* on the strip, the actual basking spot could be up anywhere from 100*-120* F.

CanI get a temp gun with probe at walmart??? I was gonna go there to get rubbermaid containers anyways??

Also have to heard of these reptil bites for beardie, I hear there red and smell fruity?? Are those good for them?? I wwas gonna try and get them some fruit or pumpkin cause I guess it helps with digestive system?

You can get a digital thermometer with a probe at wall-mart, not a temp-gun though, to my knowledge you have to order temp-guns online, but the digital themometer with a probe will work fine, just tape the probe directly on the basking spot, and set it for out (the thermometers have a probe so that you can monitor to temperatures, one where the actual unit is located, and the other where the probe is). I wouldn't buy the reptile bites, if you REALLY want to use a comercial food, buy Rep-Cal pellets (I've never used them, but I heard they were the only good comercial reptile food) In terms of fruit, most anything is okay EXCEPT tomatoes and citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, etc.). I have heard that raisins are a favorite among many dragons, so try raisins and papaya (another good fruit) on their salad.
Here is a great nutritional analysis of most every food you could think of giving a beardie: http://home.comcast.net/~holachapulin/Nutrition.html
Hope it helps,

Ok so one rubbermaid container will be ok right?? I can just switch them out to eat or should I get two and just feed them at same time?

Ok I will attempt to find a probe with temp gauge..have to search for them

Ok went ot petco, they were all out of digital therms..but they ran 22.99

I just got two different containers to feed them at same time.. I also bought new light that is brighter, not the black light anymore..lights up that whole corner of cage since then they have moved alot only thing that concerns me is that I had to get 75w bulb cause that was the next step up from 60w and now the temp strip doesnt read at all think it may have gotten too hot for it to read which the max is 105..so my next question is..Wont they just move if they get too hot to a cooler spot?? They seem to be fine and yes have moved to several diff spots in tank..

I am going to soak them 2 a day in warm water for 5-7 minutes cause I heard it may help the poop..

Im monitoring them with new light, definitely bright enough now, just worried about temp

Ok just keeping you informed..

I soaked them both for 5 mintues in luke warm water but took them outside and sat by pool so they could absorb some natural sunlight..

Second one lifted its tail while it was soaked and I was thinking..whats it doin then out of no where I see bubbles coming out and then partial white stuff shoots out..Part of it was solid white and the other part was sort of gooey booger looking..

Now I see this as being good that see went poop now maybe she'll be hungry, i assume the other one pooped too cause underneath there heating branch there was a small piece of solid white stuff I picked it up and it squish in my hands when I was trying to fig out what it was and crumbled..so this is good news right?

That is good news. Baths often help them to poo (One time when my big male was sick and hadn't gone for more than two weeks, I took him to the vet I volunteer for. We soaked him for about 15 minutes before he finally went).
About the temps: How big is your tank? The reason I'm asking is because, it is harder to establish the necessary heat gradient in smaller tanks (especially if the warm side is REALLY warm). Make sure they can get down to at least 80* F on the cool side. By the way, you said you went to petco and got a bulb... you didn't spend $10 on a "reptile heat lamp" did you? They are the SAME as a normal bulb. You're essentially paying for the lizard on the package. It won't hurt the animals though, just your wallet.

Basking temp

Just thought I'd add that your basking temps need to be 100-110. Their little bodies need to be close to 100 degrees for proper digestion.
Take care,
Karen Barker

Ya everything is going well now..I have gotten wax worms and feeding them in moderation but this has seemed to plumpin them both up a bit..which is good..so tomorrow ill throw in just baby cricks but they still dont go for those as much as the worms...The cricks dont normally interest them but other then that there doing fine now

just curious, as to what worms look like? Are they even visible to the human eye.. One of my babies did its buisness when I gave it a bath but didnt clip it off..so anyhow when I first looked at it I thought a piece of skin came off but I was wrong it was like a clear fluid that had black or brown specks in it..Well if I stared at these it appeared they were moving a LITTLE bit but it could have been my eyes playn tricks..Anyhow Someone once mentioned a product called Parazap so not sure if I should get some..The one in question has a full belly and they again both seem fine..No sickness related issues it seems..So if anyone has a suggestion let me know please

Thanks

Do NOT use parazap, or any medication, without getting a fecal first... The worms are NOT visible to the naked eye, you need a microscope to see them... If you are worried about parasites, I suggest you see a vet before you medicate an animal that *may* be completely healthy.

Drew S. just curious as to your experience with parazap. I've been using it very successfully. Its homeopathic and works on flukes also. Not mentioned for tapes though. thought maybe you had a bad experience or know something I don't.
Take care,

I just think, as Andrew is new to dragons, that he shouldn't "fire blindly" without even knowing if there is a problem... I'm not saying these products don't work, I'm saying that you shouldn't use medication without *knowing* if there is a problem. (That goes for the people that use a probiotic regimen too) Barker, you are probably pretty experienced with the stuff, and may get fecals done beforehand (I don't know) but I don't think that you would recommend it to a person that is new to the animals...

Oh, Drew, to find a herp vet look here: http://www.herpvetconnection.com/

-Drew

thanks for the info..I think im gonna go see the SAME vet that the reptile store I bought my babies from uses..Dr Greek in Yorba Linda..Id rather see if they were completely healthy then be worried..
