In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Helllo all, I am new here and new to the snake\reptile world! Any help is greatly appreciated! I am looking to get a ball pythin and start from there, any suggestions?
thanks

Welcome to Fauna!

The first thing I would do is post in the BP classifieds section, think about what type of snake you might want and what your budget is then go from there. If you have a decent amount you're willing to spend you could get a good looking morph instead of just a normal. :D

Hope this helped, any other questions feel free to ask. I'm sure someone can answer.

Welcome!! I would suggest an albino or albino combo if funds permit. I think they have the most "bang for the buck" when it comes to visual pleasure, but I'm biased, lol.

I would familiarize yourself with the Board of Inquiry on here before you make a purchase and research the person you intend to buy from to make sure they are an honest and reputable hobbiest/seller. Let me know if you need help researching someone.

thank you all, yes piedaddict, I am looking for a morph, eventually I would like to get into breeding and I already see that normals arent the best sellers, I like the ghost and mojaves so far!

Welcome to Fauna! This is a great place to learn a lot about reptiles in general. Ball pythons are a great first time snake. If you plan to breed down the road, I would advise your first snake to be a female if possible. I had a male first then I got a female when I first started, but if I would have gotten a female first, I could've used that time in the first place to raise my female up and end up with a big female for whatever male I want. Besides that, I'd just say as far as morphs go, work with stuff you like.

Welcome to the snake world. Also, when you are doing the budget for the morph make sure you put caging into that. Its always good to have a extra cage or extra tub since snakes are so addictive lol

Hi Josh, thank you! thank you to all of you for the help! I see there are nice people out there! and yes I can already see the addiction! I would like to know how do some of you keep them in like tupperware containers with out heat????( my snakes for dummies book on the way!!!)

The heat is under the tubs. They usually use flexwatt heat tape, or heat cable. It's basically a bookshelf, but for snakes :D I own 1 snake. My dad caught a rosy boa and gave it to me. But I keep leopard geckos and they are kept the same way, just in smaller tubs.

And as far as getting a ball python goes, you should get a nice caramel albino, and then have caramel albino babies, and then you can hook me up with one :D lol

Good luck and welcome! I'm sure you will have tons of fun!

yes a rack system is basically a bookshelf full of tubs. Under the tubs you can have heat mats, het tape, heat cable ( built in the animal plastics model ) but any of the 3 need to be set up to a tstat.
Also, if that is the route you are going then I would suggest setting in up for a few days ( I do 48 hrs) without any snakes in it and keep checking the temps to make sure you are golden.
A temp gun is ideal!!!!!!
