• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hi!
happy to be here, Currently a college student. But when I graduate I hope to get a Hots license eventually. My goal is to become a callmethelamp type figure. A responsible, careful, and fully qualified reptile keeper. I have already kept some difficult species such as baby rainbow boas and leaf tailed geckos. So I have some amount of skill with husbandry. I am well aware of the bad rap that this community gets and have no desire to add to its bad reputation.

NOTE: I currently live in Colorado which is a state that only allows venomous snakes for COMMERCIAL means with a license.
meaning that you can't have them as "pets" here. (I think) (someone correct me if I am wrong)

If I get really into any species I may move so I can keep them.

At the moment just wanting to say Hi!, and get a feel for the forum.
Any information from experts would be awesome.
and if any of you could point me to someone who could potentially get me my license that would be amazing as well.

I honestly just love these amazing animals, and want to better the hobby and the keeping of some of these interesting animals WITHOUT getting bit.

In the long run my plan will be to get an antivenom storage, depending on what snakes I may get.

Hi Owen, If I could give you advice to prepare. Get something like a oriental rat snake or a black racer, keep it practice handling with snake hooks tongs and hemostats learn the snakes temperament how it moves and if you don't get bit for 2 years and find a mentor I think you would be well on your way.
