    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Independent of the specific circumstances, our hobby and industry are being threatened from many angles. Lost animals, keepers being bitten, invasive populations, public fear, political misunderstanding, and stupid "showmanship" are fueling more restrictive regulations and legislation. The last two shows I attended had several attendees draping snakes around their neck and walking next door for burgers, or through the public parking lot and so forth. Very poor judgement and social awareness.

Alabama is already quite restrictive concerning snake, lizard, and turtle / tortoise ownership. It has a permitting system - but it generally will not grant permits for regulated species. A few months ago, the Alabama Game and Fish Commission (ADCNR) proposed banning all Lampropeltis species from private ownership. A primary "evidence" are the invasive reports of California King-snakes in Europe and specifically the Seychelles. That regulation has been challenged by only a few keepers and will likely be approved. There may be a small chance the regulation could be "reduced" from Lampropeltis to getulus.

I agree completely. We keepers need not to feed the fears of the various sorts of haters.

I've vended a few shows organized by the same business. I think that a organization that is much more on top of details would be a better host for a venomous show. A venomous group/club/society that has a thorough knowledge of that part of the hobby and the keepers in it would be best equipped for this sort of event.

"There’s really no evidences of a snake being loose in there because a lot of times when they get loose they poop, too." This seems a stretch. This may have been a really tangential offhand remark that the reporter honed in on for reasons that have little to do with relevance to the situation.
