In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I posted here last month how I jad my first clutch of kingsnakes here. Well, this morning, I was checking their show boxes to see if they had eaten the mouse I had left for each overnight. As I checked for the mice, I checked each snake as well. The last box I checked is my one hatchling that I can't get to eat. It's mouse was still there, but I soon realized the snake was not. It was quickly apparent that I had not pushed the top down until it locked in.

Of course, I was freaking out, as my biggest fear since my husband got me into snakes is that one would escape. I also wasn't too optimistic on its chances as we have a cat who would just love to get her claws on one of our snakes.

I called my husband, who thankfully had not gone out on the boat fishing yet and was only just around the corner. He came home and remembered that just 45 minutes earlier I had been wondering why my cat was so intently staring at a pile of towels I had on my floor (I am packing to go on vacation next week). Lo and behold, he lifted up one of the towels and there was the missing snake. It managed to crawl out of its shoebox, I am assuming fall to the floor from about 3-4 feet up on the rack, crawl under the foor to the reptile room, go down a flight of stairs, and get into the towels, all without being killed by the cat. In fact, it seems to have no injuries at all.

Lesson I learned - ALWAYS make sure the containers are closed/latched/shut tight cause these guys want to be out of there!

he he

Ah yes, the pluses & minuses of having a cat.....they may maul any escapees, but they are darn good trackers...lol!!

oh yeah...

...crickets. Not only do my cats catch the crickets, if I don't get to them fast enough, they eat the crickets too! I guess the kitty kibble just doesn't have the right crunch to it...lol.

Earlier this year, I had a cal kingsnake escape her cage despite the clips that are suppose to keep the screen on, and figure out how to get into the cage next to her, eating my baby pyro pyro :(

Now there is a brick on top of her screen - the clips - they apparently don't work for squat.

Our cat found one of our Grey Banded Kings that we hadn't even known was loose. She was playing with it, batting at it and stuff, but didn't actually hurt it. Her claws weren't even out! Since then, about 10-15 pounds of weight stays on top of her sweaterbox to keep her in.
