In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i bought a pair of leachianus from Lost world pets and they look great. the male is very nicely colored ( high pink) and the female is high white color. both are very healthy and were at a great price! if anyone is looking for female leachianus lost world pets can get you some for a great price!!! :spinner03

my bf and I bought a pair of red tails in Sep and they had mites...both snakes died...luckily and hopefully the rest of my collection has not suffered...

tread carefully

Rachel, you are saying that they came with mites ? and now they are dead ? what killed them ? and why would you be concerned about the rest of your collection ? They should of have been in "Quarantine" far away from your collection. More information is needed here. the reason for this responce is I'm looking into some stuff they have and this popped up more info please. Thank you

Hi Guys,
I want to make it known that Lost World Pets has nothing to do with Lost World Reptiles.
We are currently engaged in a Federal Lawsuit over Trademark infringement.
Please do not let any reports of mites or other health issues confuse you about Lost World Reptiles. We have repeatedly asked them to cease using our mark and they have ignored us. They have bad mouthed us to our own buyers who contact them by mistake.
This situation is now headed to Federal Court and I have no doubt will be resolved in our favor.
Until that time I ask that anyone posting information about them make it very clear who it is they are talking about.
Thanks,
Gino Sassani

Thanks for the clarification Gino. I recalled you being a "colubrid guy" and couldn't imagine you selling an infested, sick snake. I hope that your legal action is resolved quickly.

For the record, I have met Gino of Lost World Reptiles and I have done business with him. He is a good guy with nice, CLEAN animals.

Ok now I'm lost there are 3 companys with the name Lost World -we have Pets -Reptiles -Herps Who is who :)

I understand the confusion. Let me see if I can explain.

Lost World Reptiles is the original company. We have a US Trademark on the name.
Lost World Herps was a young man in Colorado. I've spoken with him and he has been very understanding of the situation. He will be using another name soon.
Lost World Pets used to be Puppy World. In 2004 they decided to change their name to Lost World Pets. Immediately there were problems. Even Reptile Magazine contacted me in regards to their ads. And Sandy knows me. It is confusing and that's exactly what Trademark laws were created to prevent.
I tried very hard to explain this to them but they are very insistant.

I know most of the breeders out there do not trademark their names. However, I am very aware of how important reputation is in this business. This very forum is a great testament to that fact.
I decided to drop the bucks to Federally protect the name. Even though Lost World Pets is not technically the same, the law provides protection from ANY name that is deemed likely to cause confusion in the marketplace. I think this last post proves that having other reptile companies with the term Lost World WILL and HAS led to confusion.

Anyone who knows me knows I work very hard to keep healthy animals.
Can you blame me for not wanting someone else's carelessness to cost me that hard earned reputation?

Hope that clears it up. As I said Lost World Pets has decided they want this to be decided in Court. I have obliged them. I have no doubt about the outcome.

Take Care,
Gino Sassani

Thanks Gino.

You are right about the confusion. I had to look twice when I saw this post (until I saw what kind of herps they were), even though you are a long time friend and I have had great dealings with you for years. It is easy to remember Lost World, hard to remember herps, pets, reptiles, etc, because EVERYONE (almost) in this business uses one of those endings on a name. Maybe a printout of this thread will help strengthen your case in court.

Good luck!

I have to agree Kathy, Thats why I posted here in the first place I have never done business with Gino but heard nothing but good things about him and when the post about mite ridden Red Tails I was confused. Thanks

Thanks Kathy,
Already done. I've been faxing updates to our lawyer all day.
What you said about the "Lost World" being the important part is what we've been trying to explain to them all along. They insist there is no reason for any confusion.
Perhaps if someone on this thread knows them they might point these comments out.
I've even had to hold off doing ads on ks because they are all over it and I'm afraid I'll only add to the confusion.

Take Care,
Gino

Yes, Lost World Pets

sorry for the confusion of some, but I made sure I posted in the correct thread

At first the tank with both baby red tails were in the living room a few feet away from the rest of my collection...some of my collection was in my bedroom...bf helped change everything and get shelving to put all my animals in the living room and then put the red tails in 2 tanks in the bedroom...soon after he noticed a mite on his hand after holding the female...then noticed them on the male...there were about 4-10 in each tank that we noticed before a thorough cleaning...cleaned and then female died...cleaned all again...male was thin and neither ate except once a day or 2 after the show...then the male died about a week later...cleaned his cage thoroughly again and noticed more mites in cage (lined with vaseline after 1st noticing them, saw none in the vaseline but saw mites in the water after soaking tank)

his ball python was across the room and was not affected luckily...some bedding was in that room that was used for my jcps...we threw that out...the jcps were not affected so it wasn't the bedding

just noticed 1 or 2 when inspecting them after noticing one on his hand

and checked them over at the show and didn't noticed any but with black dots on them, it could have been missed

it would be better proof to hear similar things or if there was anyone else who perhaps bought a redtail from them at the sep. show in westchester

Hey Rachel,
You posted it in the right place.
Whenever I see something about them I rush to clarify it's not us.
I'm sorry you had bad luck with these guys.
I only hope that soon enough they'll change the name and folks can be confident again when they see the name Lost World.

If you're not sure if they spread try a little 7 dust in your cages.
It cleans the mites right out. Won't hurt the snakes at all. (the 7 dust that is).

Good Luck,
Gino

Rachel, Im sorry for your loss .Have you been in touch with who you got them from ?? are they going to make it right ?? and if you dont mind can you post the contact information on them so I (we) know where they are out of Thank you

7 dust? where is that found? is it safe for lizards too?
I think it's safe...haven't seen any mites including the in the ball python cage that's across in the same room where the boas were when mites were noticed...it's been about a month since the whole ordeal

I just recently found the business card again...I posted here but they were my bf's purchase so I'm leaving it to him to contact the seller...just figured I'd give a head's up and see if anyone had a similar experience

I got a gargoyle gecko the same day and he hasn't had a problem

Hey Rachel,
You can get 7 dust at any garden center or like Home Depot.
I don't know if it's safe for lizards but you can dump the stuff on snakes and it won't harm them. Remove the water dish if you cover them with the stuff.

Thanks for the info about Lost World Pets.
Hopefully they'll be going by a new name soon.
Just remember everybody Lost World Reptiles is not connected with them at all.

Take Care,
Gino

thanks

no problem...hope you get everything sorted out
