    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I wish to advise all the customers that 99% of what this gentleman is selling is HIGHLY illegal in the State of Indiana. It is a jailable offense to have eastern box turtles, spotted turtles and ornate box turtles. It is illegal to sell any turtle/tortoise under 4" in this state (new state law). So, I'll go out on a limb and say.. this is either a sting operation, to entrap unsuspected people, or this guy is really really..... going to be spending some quality time in our prison system, soon. You've been warned....

Actually it's only for the sale and distribution of turtles WITHIN the state. If they are shipping outside state lines it doesn't matter. NJ is the same way. Turtle and tortoise selling or buying is illegal in its entirety here, unless, of corse, it is from out of state and flown in and not a natively endangered species. People who have had them for years, and the law suddenly changes, are not obligated to give up their species unless deemed a health risk (like cows with mad cow disease). It is also illegal to transport over the NJ and IN state line by ground. You can look up the state laws. Here's a starter: http://aboxturtle.com/four_inch_law.htm
The link is for Indiana only but tehre is a link for all states. keep close attention to this section:
(d) Exceptions. The provisions of this section are not applicable to:
(1) The sale, holding for sale, and distribution of live turtles and viable turtle eggs for bona fide scientific, educational, or
exhibitional purposes, other than use as pets.
(2) The sale, holding for sale, and distribution of live turtles and viable turtle eggs not in connection with a business.
(3) The sale, holding for sale, and distribution of live turtles and viable turtle eggs intended for export only, provided that the outside of the shipping package is conspicuously labeled ``For Export Only.''
(4) Marine turtles excluded from this regulation under the
provisions of paragraph (a) of this section and eggs of such turtles.

Collection of some species in the wild is outlawed, especially if endangered by the state or fedral government.

Other than that it's all good! exporting them is fine, if outside state lines. If over four inches and sold in state tax must be collected on the sale.

How much for your red footed tortoises? How much to ship to Philadelphia, Pa. 19134

Man, I wish this tread would be removed....... these animals are ILLEGAL in Indiana to sell.... don't break the law....REMOVE, REMOVE, REMOVE... Back to your regular program....

I would really like to see what turtles and tortoises you have for sale. I am really interested in the eastern box turtle, any size.(a baby would be really nice though) Please let me know whether you have anything I can buy from you. Thanks, Lissa

Its not illegal i don't think to sell them out of state, thats the way it is here in tn, you can have them, but not sell them locally, you can ship out of state. and it hink its a stupid law in the first place.

jeez I didn't know about these laws. I thought as long as they were CB you were ok. Good thing i found out though because my friend gave me a CB turtle and when I did find out I made him take it back within the hour even though he insisted i was mistaken. Just not worth the risk. Ill stick with fuzzy animals i think

Jeeze guys, do your research! Laws for each state are different. If you're curious call the game and wildlife commission and they will tell you 100%. You can own any turtle in any state. some states have regulations on shipping and selling. There is no law that will not allow you to have an animal already in your posession if it has been in your custody from birth or was a pet before i law went into affect. They cannot just take your animal or tell you you cannot have it, especially if an animal lives for 100 years!
Research it, and find out your local laws. Big brother is not watching just make sure you know the laws before you purchase anything and you're fine!
Do not remove because it will give poeple an oportunity to do the research themselves and find out about their state's laws.
As for obtaining as a gift, that is allowed in all states. Selling for profit is not always legal but giving one away, selling out of state, and inheriting one is fully lawful.
RESEARCH, don't make presumtions.
