A little on the kind of stand up guy that Matt Crabe is
I received this email from Matt on 1/26/06...I asked Matt's permission to copy and paste all of our correspondence to one another and put them all in order.
Wow Laura, I just read your post about what happened to you last year. I'm soo sorry this happened, I hadn't heard about it until now. That must have been a terrible thing to go through although you definitely did the right thing. Anyhow, I'm expecting a couple good litters of albinos and hets this year and if you are interested in getting back into boas, I would be more than happy to donate a pair of hets to get your collection up and going again. I like my babies to go to homes where they will be appreciated. I know you would take good care of them, so please let me know if you are interested. It is unfortunate that others have ruined this hobby for someone like you, but you really should give it another shot.

Wow Matt, just when I'm about to give up on the industry, someone like you comes along and restores my faith. I don't tell my story to get kudos' or sympathy, I tell as a warning to those who broker and sell, to those that do not practice quarantine procedures, or got to shows headlong a multitude of animals with out hand sanitation. All of these things not only should be taught to the new herpers but also reinforced by the veterans in this field.
The medical industry has taken a hard line on this illness, but the bottom line is up to all of us to continue and teach proper handling, husbandry, quarantine, and health issues of all large boids. I've lost so much emotionally and physically, that it's staggering to even start to wrap my mind around the totality of the destruction that I once called my life.
The truly sad thing about all of this it that I had it all. My projects were lined up so perfectly, I was just 2 years away from snow, sunglow, jungle, full body striping with reverse stripped tail, and the best hypo's on the market. I had already produced ghost with patchy tongues and beautiful dble. hets. I had held back the best of the best and in the end had to say good by.
If I shared everything you would be dazed, from my divorce to the sale of my home, I've lost everything, but it could be worse and I know it. So thank you for your offer, and keep in touch, I will purchase a baby albino from you when they are ready, anything else you choose to do is strictly up to you. Thanx for the act of kindness in advance. Laura Cox

Laura,
Let me see what comes out this year and we can definitely work something out. Here's a couple photos to try and get you excited about boas again. The first is a pastel het albino female being bred by my albino het stripe. She is due at the end of Feb. and I can't wait to see what the albinos look like. I might just have to hold them all back, lol. The second pic is a super nice colored normal female ovulating that was bred by the same albino male and is due in April. As you can see, she has great color and she is even in her dark phase form breeding. She should produce some high colored hets. The third pic is just a hold back albino from last year to give you an idea of what my albino stock produces. I know it can't even begin to replace what you lost, but at least it's a start and hopefully you can build from there.
BTW, I had to give up a lot in my divorce to keep my snakes, but at least I got to keep them.

Nice stuff!! My divorce had nothing to due with my snakes, I would have hurt him if he even tried to take them from me, but hey i still have my integrity and although, I feel bad for the loss of my animals, I could have ignored it all and caused so much more damage. I look forward to seeing the babies!! I haven't lost my love for boas, just scarred to death of possibly going through it again. Thanx and keep me posted..............BTW where do you live Matt? Laura,
I just wanted to get back to you. I have some hets available from this year, but no albinos. If you are interested, I would still like to keep my offer to you of sending you a pair of hets. I know this doesn't replace the awesome collection you had, but it is the best I can do to help you get started. Please let me know if you are interested and we can set up shipping.
