I sent this guy a used ceramic heat emitter. He said he was recently ripped off so could i send the emitter first. Being that it's only 10.00 i said yes. This was approx. March 6th. He said he sent money and it must have gotten lost. A few weeks later he said he will send again (yea right). Well today is April 11th and nothing. I am  only posting because if you will steal a 10.00 heat emitter you will steal anything. I am sending him a link to see where he ended up for 10.00. I am also posting his email stating his story of being ripped off. By the way he posted on Kingsnake.

Pay up sucker!!! *LOL* I think Alan has a good point. Ripping someone off for $10.00? That's low. The c.h.e. may have been used, but still. A deal was made and a product shipped in good faith. I guess this is just another chapter in the neverending saga of shady dealings. However, before I offer up a full condemnation of Luis, I would like to hear his side of the story. So he, if he reads this, doesn't feel ganged up on.

(Under $100, that is)...I look them square in the face, as they're going for their license, and I say, ...."Put that away! If you're going to rip me off for $20 bucks...you've got a SERIOUS problem!!" I have NEVER been stuck with a check (knock on wood)!!....

Neil, i am not worried. I only posted to warn others. As you know if someone will not pay for  a emitter they are very likely to scam someone for a reptile. As for his side of the story i would love to here why i still have not recieved. I do think the emails speak for themselves but Luis enlighten us. Last thing, I did what you said EmeraldGuy and nothing.. Luis occasionally posts on the Kingsnake Gila Forum. It might be worth your time to search the site. I have heard several rumors regarding him but I cannot substantiate any of them so I will not comment on what was said. I don't want to take the chance of being sued(LOL)!

Maybe I'm seeing things here but in the very first post doesn't Luis say he's going to send $15? Where does the $10 come from when he owes you $15? If that includes shipping he still owes you $15 not $10 or did he simply make a mistake in his letter? Just wondering, either way it's pretty sad.

RIPPED OFF BY LUIS

I bought a pair of adult ball pythons back in Oct of 2002 and to this day have not yet received them or gotten my money back.

I bought the pair and explained to him that if he could not ship them in the next couple of weeks it would have to wait till Spring due to the cold weather. He told me he was working on setting up a shipping account and that he would send them. After 3 weeks it got too cold for shipping so I called him and asked him if he could ship in early Spring when the weather broke. He agreed.

A couple of months later, I saw my snakes that I had already paid $200 for up for sale again on Kingsnake. When I called him to find out why he was selling my snakes he told me he didn't think I was interested anymore. I asked him if he thought it might be a good idea to call me and ask me before putting my snakes up for sale, which were already paid for. He said no problem I'll send you your snakes after you pay me for feeding them all winter. He wanted $187 for feeding snakes that looked like they hadn't eaten all winter(I requested current pics). I agreed to send him $100 for feeding and still to this day(12/28/03) have not seen the snakes or the $300. I have tried to contact him MANY, MANY times w/no replies or the phone was shut off. The times that I did speak w/him he gave me the run around about finding the time to ship them. After getting frustrated I told him to forget the deal and just send me the $300 back. More run around. No money. He is a disgrace to this industry!!

I hate to hear of people that do business with others and get screwed. I did a trade deal with Luis this past summer. The snake I received (yearling male Hypo) came from anohter breeder here in Phx that is why I made the trade.
Not to sound two-faced because my deal WAS fine, but I have heard from others that they have had problems before with him.

Anyway, here is the cell number I have and I know it works.

I have 15 adults (boas, balls and burms)
The order I placed for about $175 worth of food in october is about to run out now.

He was selling your snakes because he thought you were no longer interested.

I wonder what it means to him that you paid for them in full.
(I guess in his world people who are NOT interested in his snakes make a habit of giving him money for them)

So he was selling the snakes you paid for in full. Did it occur to him to send you a refund?

So he is gonna charge you $187 for feeding.
If he sold the snakes to someone else.....would he charge them an extra $187?


This BS of needing to open an account before shipping is PURE BS.
Airborne express.....you can open an account over the internet and ship the same day. You do not even need an account to ship with them.

I do not know about needing an account before you can ship with UPS. But I sure do know that it took me five minutes over the internet to open an account with them.

I know this is about 2 years old, but did a resolution ever come forth?
Any refunds, or snakes suddenly showing up?

I wouldn't mind knowing since I have concidered a co-op breeding project with him. My big girl isn't "just a snake" to me though, she is my daughter, and I would not entrust her to someone who is other than honest.

I am not that far from him (400 miles). I have visited him 3 times in the past 4-5 months, at his house in Arizona City to try and get an idea of his character, and how he cares for his herps. That's where most of them are housed.
So far, no visible flags have been raised in my mind...........But now I read this, and know that that ceramic emitter still works, cuz he is using it. Than I read what Ted Keane wrote about the two adult BP's, anything ever happen with that?

Hmmmmmmmm...............An update would be perfect right about now.

I just did a very large transaction with Luis and it went flawlessly. The animal arrived in beautiful condition and I could not be happier. I did have this transaction brokered but even the individual brokering the deal felt that he was on the up and up. Not sure about the other issues but I am more than satisfied with this transaction and will most certainly be doing business with him again.

I would like to take a minute and ad my own experience with Luis. I had e-mailed him in regards to a couple of animals that he had posted for sale. Luis e-mailed me back in a very timely manor, with pricing, description and etc. Luis also gave me a list of very well known references, and told me to check them out to ease any doubt. I did in fact check a couple out, starting with Doug matuzak of the Boa Basement. Everyone only had good things to say of Luis. I did the transaction for the animals. Luis kept in touch by e-mail and phone through the whole process. He even went out fo his way whenever he shipped by actually driving the animals approx. 75 miles one way to the Ups terminal rather than having his Ups driver simply put them on the truck, due to the extreme heat we were having at both places when I made the purchase from him. Luis handled everything like a professional from communications, shipping, ( actual genetics guarantee) follow up call to see how animals arrived and if I was satisfied with them. I would without a doubt do business with Luis again.
