In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Male or Female? You decide!

So we got these two marketed leucistic FEMALE dragons awhile back in a group that we purchased. They are two years old roughly. The guy who had them said he housed them in with a male hypo. So one of them we call Lucinda. She has several nips and gouges on her tail. The other is Lucille. Lately, Lucinda has been "picking fights" with Lucille. I comment to my husband (and he back to me) that Lucinda's behavior was very male like i.e., shoulder biting, stomping and bearding. This am I caught Lucinda MATING Lucille. Lucinda was bitting her neck again and wiggling her tail out of the way and next thing you know they're locked up. When it was over I seperated them and shockingly a "Pink thing" (I assume a hemi penis?) was hanging out of Lucinda's vent. She even had her toe in Lucilles vent. I took pictures because I was in shock! I have looked and checked again and again and there does not appear to be hemi peni on Lucinda. She/he has one bulge in the middle not two on the sides. So What in the world? Is it a female gone wrong? a male gone right? I don't mind if it is a male. I am not in the least bit upset with the seller as he too thought she was a he or he was a she or... now I'm confused. We think Lucinda is really Luke... We also think the reason the tail is so chewed up is that HE was housed with the other male with the previous owner. Any thoughts? Ideas? We are kinda lost!

It looks like you have a very dominant female. Often females that are this dominant will display fake mating (female dogs do this too). It has been said that this is done to show dominance over the other female(s) and to start an infertile cycle so that the dominant female will get the best shot at mating. That however I have no written proof of that being the case, it's just what I've heard.

Since you are seeing this kind of behavior I recommend that you separate them. At this point no good can come from housing them together. The one female is probably stressed out greatly.

I'm not telling you what to do but just suggesting what may be the best for your dragons. Hope you weren't offended.

Has anyone else heard of "fake mating" where one female displays the behavior of a male down to having something come out of its vent and enter the other dragons? any one??? plz respond.

When you saw them "mating" did you see a hemipene? I know you mentioned putting the toe in the vent but I didn't see if you mentioned anything else. Judging by that one picture it looks clearly female even when it's mounted on the other one.

Quick question when you pulled them apart or when they mated did they alleged male stay stiff and not move at all or was he ok.

All my males after mating remain extremely still for a few minutes. They stay in the same position as he was when he does the deed. The females usually will slid out as the male looses grip and he remains there.

I'v heard of females that show 2 bulges but not to many males that show none.

Honestly... I can't even see one lump in the picture you have up.
I try kinda twisting the base gently and carefully to try to pop it out more.

I've never had any lezi dragons. The most another female would do is show dominance by bobbing and circling eachother, never try to actually do the dirty.

There was definitely something sticking out of her/him when I pulled them apart as far as if it was actually inside the other dragon I couldnt honestly say. I really doubt the dragon is stressed they are lounging around very peacefully most of the time and to be perfectly honest the other dragon (the for sure female) seems to incite most of the action.

It's your choice to keep them together. I personally wouldn't especially after seeing this behavior.

Anyway, did it look anything like this:

That is a male breeding with a female and it also looks like he made his mark and didnt miss. Hope there not siblings?
You can see a part of the hemipene right in the front part of his foot and at the top part of the vent you can see where the sperm first pools up before passed down the hemipene
Shine, stay on the right track of mind! :dgrin:

I dont think this are the dragons in question I believe its only the first 3 photos the one where they show the tail and the one where thy are together and the third where they pulled them apart.

I think that last one was just an example.

Ah so it was.

Those 2 were definitely not related. I spent some time tracking down where they came from before I bred them. I posted the picture for reference for the OP.

Yes, the first three pics are mine. I am still a bit confused, but yes I did see a pink thing hanging out of the one dragons vent. The one behaving like the male. He/she did not move for a few mins after I seperated them. He/ she has also tried to mate again and again. So I am starting to think it really is a male. More later, the baby says the Zizards pooped so I got to go clean it up!!! Thanks everyone!!!!

Then I believe you have a male and female. You had mentioned you purchased them as a package are they related.
