    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Matt - MG Reptiles (Bad Guy)

hello I have noticed one thing with good ol matt here he told everyone else he would charge them with a 25% restock fee and I was told it would be a 50% restock fee and withing 3 hours after an inquiry to paypal for the order that I cancelled he sent me a nasty e-mail making fun of my business and other things I cant quite say ( very nasty mouth on that guy) but I replied to him simply stating that I was going to upgrade paypal to a claim and I hope he could back up his lies about shipping and that I was saving the email for further legal action. he then replied with anymore corespondence between us will be considerd harrassment funny thing is he was harrassing me and states in an e-mail that he would sue oh heck I just have to post it

this is a copy and paste from yahoo mail center

the most ironic part about this is the fact that I currently serve in the us army as an active duty soldier and I was born in america I guess he didnt know that part

so how can I press charges against this a-hole

I don't think you can press charges, but ya know what I would do. I'd contact the IRS.

Seeing as though he hates blacks, hispanics, homosexuals......find some places on the web that you can sign him for emails. I'd flood the bastards in-box with everything from diet pills to penis enhancements. Let him and his spam filter weed through that while he's trying to conduct..rrrrrr I mean con...someone else from some hard earned money.

Hey thanks for keeping us safe over here by the way. You and the boys be careful and may god be watching over you.

:rofl: :thumbsup:

This guy just won't quit, these most recent emails just make me sick. As far as filing charges, just make sure to send copies of everything to his local BBB and the Attorney Generals office. They probably won't do anything but file it, but after enough complaints they will do something.

Personally I think you'd fair better to simply call the IRS to report him. They will follow up on the lead and investigate him. Hells Bells...I don't think the crustless white bread racist pays his taxes and nor would he be able to furnish accurate records should the IRS be curious enough to ask for them. Most people crap a ton when they receive a letter from the IRS. With Matt seemingly full of religious crap....he may just suffocate in his own excrement right at the mailbox. Can I get an Amen?

Update as of 2-mins ago after receiving the package from USPS;

Matt send the package, but failed to include everything. Here's the message I just sent him via the paypal dispute center;

Matt, I received the following today; (6) Pairs of Insulator Clips (1) Stripped Cord (6) Metal Clips (12') 11" Heat Tape I am missing the 2" roll of foil tape, (2) stripped cords, as well as the added labor I was charged for doing this. Total refund to me = $17.99 + $3.00 labor per connection for not installing them, plus the 2x $2.15 for the cords not provided. Total refund = $31.29 excluding the paypal fees associated with this transaction. Please provide me a refund on the items not sent. - Vic

I'm hoping he comes through here, but something tells me I shouldn't be holding my breath.

New messages sent just now:

From Seller: MG Reptiles on 5/3/2007 15:55 PDT

That sounds fair to me. I was unaware of the shortage and I apologize. However I cannot send a refund until the dispute is closed as it will only allow me to refund the whole amount and if I send it as a seperate transaction it will not be connected with this one.. Hope you understand. When you close the dispute I will send your refund.

Message I sent back 5-mins ago;

From Buyer: Victor Martino on 5/3/2007 16:13 PDT

Matt, I would prefer the $31.29 + paypal fees be sent as a seperate transaction since once this dispute is "closed" the potential refund may never occur. I am not trying to make you sound untrustworthy here, but considering the circumstances, a paypal record of this entire transaction including a refund sent to me as a seperate transaction (also recorded in paypal's record) would ensure all parties have the security they need to close the dispute at hand. There is also the option of us ending communication and allowing paypal to settle the issue. Considering the dialogue below, I think they would have no quams about allowing a seperate transaction to occur on your behalf for a refund ensuring a record is present to link the transaction. Please let me know your thoughts and we'll go from there. - Vic

More to follow... :ack2:

Gotta imagine you were hoping to get all the stuff so you didn't have to communicate with him anymore. Kind of makes you wonder if he did it on purpose just to hold you up. Like that wouldn't be another fine quality in the vindictive little turds body. I'm so glad I switched from reptiles to breeding canaries. Haven't been screwed ordering bird seed yet. ;)

And so it begins...

From Seller: MG Reptiles on 5/3/2007 16:23 PDT

Well I am not going to pay you paypal fees as that is agint their terms of service.. I am closing the dispute and will allow paypal to take care of it now.

From PayPal: PayPal on 5/3/2007 16:24 PDT

Seller escalated this dispute to a Claim.

From Seller: MG Reptiles on 5/3/2007 16:24 PDT

Wanting to to have me send him the paypal fees assiciated with a transaction. This is against paypals TOS!

Well I suppose at this point all I can do is wait and ensure that the claim is honored in my favor through paypal.

Just go to Menards or Home depot and buy the 2" foil tape for about $4 a roll. Never understood why people pay so much more for it buying it from these flexwatt guys. The cords too, just get a cheap extension cord and cut off the end.

Because sometimes its nice to help out the little guy for the few extra bucks it costs. Its the main reason you don't really see too many small hardware stores or mom and pop shops around anymore. Aside from my personal feeling on big business squashing the little guy, I believe that Vic paid for the connections; wire to clips. Probably to save some time and effort because he's busy making money to stuff in the pockets of little shits like the unappreciative Matt. I'm sure Vic must realize that he could buy foil tape at any home depot, but for the extra buck or two and the hassle of not having to run around perhaps a few miles from home...why not just have it all delivered at the same time so its all there when he's ready to install it? Sadly it seems that not only did Matt forget the additional products Vic purchased, but he also forgot that Vic paid for the connections to be made. Which in turn kind of leads me to believe, given the circumstances here, that Matt didn't even have Vic's order in front of him....or maybe he did and he really didn't give a rats ass what the guy paid for.

Vic, let paypal do its thing. They will record the dispute and it will be on his paypal record that he did not voluntarily do the right thing. Eventually when the crap hit the fan for him, PayPal might limit his account or completely revoke his privileges. Sorry to see this happen to ya....no reason in the world it should have come down to this at all.

Chuck,

You hit the nail on the head here. With the amount of money I make with my job, the convenience of simply ordering the required material vs. taking the time to go to the local hardware store is simply not worth the extra $10. bucks I paid Matt. The same goes for the Aspen I order from my friends at the Bean Farm (who I should have went with in the first place), to the scales I purchase from Pro Exotics. Easily I COULD outsource and find cheaper by shopping around, but why not pay the extra few dollars and build some professional relationships in the meantime?

:shrug01:

All,

Not to beat a dead horse here as we all know the character of this individual. But I wanted to point out an interesting development in how this guy can scam through Paypal.

Initially order was supposingly sent earlier in the month of April with the fake tracking number (or one that wasn’t created yet in the system). When late April creeped around, I put in a dispute with paypal since I never received the items. Paypal gives you two options when filing a dispute. Either you;

(a) Never received the item, and put in a claim... OR
(b) You received a partial receipt on the goods, but not the whole thing.

Obviously, I never received anything, so with my dispute I used option (a) above. Immediately after I sent the dispute, Matt gets in contact with me telling me to drop the dispute, and he will send a prompt refund. I refuse and tell him IF I drop the dispute, I cannot re-open it nor recoupe funds if you do not pay me back.

Thereafter, Matt sends a package out with ONLY PART of what I paid, and not all the components. I get the package, and write him a message through the Paypal open dispute dialogue saying I did not receive everything, and want a refund for the items excluded. He tells me once again to "close the dispute so I can get a refund." I tell him NO, send the refund plus the paypal fees paid, and i'll close the dispute. He refuses, and escalates the dispute to a claim saying he sent the package. The claim eventually would get to paypal, and paypal REFUSES my claim because he showed proof that he sent the package containing only part of the order!

:eek:

The problem with this is that my initial dispute was "I never received the item." But because this guy sent the package AFTER the dispute, my claim was denied on a technicality.

WOW was I fuming!! :angry:

I called paypal and told them what happened, and they gave me a refund for the difference ($31.26) out of their own wallet. Long story short here, I got my money back, but it seems Matt is trying to use the "system" for lack of a better term to scam people to the fullest extent it seems. Too bad Paypal hasn't banned him yet, or caught on to his business practices and claims.

- Vic

This post is great and I wouldn't consider it beating a dead horse at all. You could have easily shrugged this whole thread off after being compensated by PayPal but you did a great thing to assist other victims and potential victims by exposing this scam. Glad to see PayPal did the right thing by you.

I went through the dispute process with Matt about a month ago for an order that was about 7 weeks late.

Although the details of what happened are similar to what everyone else has reported (promises to deliver, claims of being backordered, etc.) Matt was polite throughout the entire process.

I did file a dispute with Paypal, which Matt immediately escalated into a claim. Immediately after printing his shipping label, Paypal closed the claim- despite the fact that I had not received my goods.

In the end, I received my thermostat roughly two months after I had ordered it and it did not work. Instead of going through a long drawn out process with MG to return the unit, I complained directly to Paypal about closing out the claim without checking to see if I had satisfactorily received my order.

Paypal ended up refunding me the entire $84.35 I immediately ordered the same unit from Reptile Basics and had it delivered within four days.

It is obvious that the Paypal claim process is next to useless. It is also obvious that Matt has learned how to circumvent their claims process. I do all my ordering now with my credit card. I have heard too many horror stories about Paypal to continue using them.

I just wanted to bump this thread and remind the following list of people that they still have "Good Guy" votes on Matt's Good Guy Certificate. Please, if you are able, consider deleting your vote and consider voting "Bad Guy". I know that his certificate is withdrawn but his having over 70 positive votes is disturbing. I withdrew mine as soon as he started flapping his lips in a negative manor towards his customers.

Surprises and saddens me to see those numbers there, as it affords him the opportunity to keep going like he has. So by all means, at least remove your votes based on his attitude alone, if not the fact that he's turned into something undesirable to have around here..
