In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Matt Shrimplin

Robin, either you have not read this entire thread and actually looked at the photos posted of this particular gecko in question, or you simply don't comprehend the situation. The "happy" thread Allee started (with photos) at Gecko Forums is quite obviously about different geckos.

Matt stated/admitted:
"I did inform Ken about this gecko's foot and hemipene issue. I was unaware of the calcium deficiency or MBD and according to my friend this gecko was a great breeder. I advised Ken to place Neosporin on the wound and/or soak the gecko in a solution of salt water. I only had the gecko a week or two before selling it. You should have contacted me before wasting money at the vet. I would have replaced the gecko and just had you pay the cost of shipping... which would have been way cheaper than a vet bill. This gecko left my facility a little banged up."

Now what does that say to you, Robin? Perhaps you received geckos from Matt that you are perfectly happy with. Allee did not. Allee received a gecko that never should have been sold in the first place. Allee received a gecko that never should have left Matt's possession until it was completely healthy. MBD is not invisible. A gash on a foot is not invisible.

This is about Matt making a profit off a gecko that was given to him, that was, by Matt's own admission, "banged up". This is about poor customer service and not properly caring for an animal in obvious need of care. This is about a guy who knowingly sold and shipped an animal he knew had health issues.
Whether he told Ken or not is actually relevant IMO. The animal should not have been offered for sale in the first place. The problem is Matt and ethics IMO.

I personally would not ship this gecko back to Matt. This little guy has been through enough already. If Matt didn't care about the animal's health in the first place, he likely won't care much about it in the future and just offer it up again for a lousy buck.

Thank you! Laura.

I'm tired of repeating myself.

I have just received an apology, and an offer to correct the situation. I'm accepting the apology, and moving on.

So there's a new purpose for this thread. Don't let a breeder snub your complaints! It'll get you no where. ;]

yes yes yes i read that but if it was soo horribly bad why did ken accept the gecko? and then pass this "sick" gecko to allee.

I'm very glad to hear there was an offer to correct the situation. Please do post here when the situation is resolved. We all need to look out for each other in the leo hobby. Mistakes can and will be made by any of us breeders but it's how we deal with and correct our mistakes that show our true character and morals. IMO.

I think only Ken can answer that question it seems, and hopefully he will. I would not ship a gecko in that condition out to customer or friend.

This is Matt, the seller of the Mack Snow Enigma Male. When I shipped the gecko he was eating great, had no fece problems, and was much larger than the pics I've seen of him recently. I told Ken about the cut on the foot and the exposed hemipene. I just received an email from some girl that Ken sent the gecko to and have tried resolving the issue by sending her another male gecko and an additional female for her troubles. Don't give me your bull-crap about "GREED". I sell my geckos at prices lower than almost anyone on the internet and do my best to advertise them accurately. Some people are so f$#*ing quick to judge. Don't be a coward and talk sh*t behind my back... grow some balls and contact me personally!:NoNo:

Matt please post with your full name and/or correct name per the BOI rules.

Greg Mattesich

On Ken's defense, it didn't look sick. He didn't look sick when I got him until later that night after a feeding.

He should be home soon, I'll tell him to post on here. The issue should be resolved tonight, we're in PM relay.

Kelli, "..it's how we deal with and correct our mistakes that show our true character and morals.."
That's the sole reason I decided to post.

I'm glad you did. Myself and the GF mods support the BOI and this is the place to resolve these types of issues. Sounds like it will be resolved. Like I said, we all make mistakes and we all can get emotional when we feel attacked but those that calm down and think rationally and fix a mistake are still good guys in my book.

i would not only like to hear from Matt but i would also like to hear from Ken, since ken is the one that received the gecko in the first place. if it was that bad when Ken received it he should have contacted Matt ASAP on the condition of the animal. why would Ken accept a sub par animal and then ship it off to you?

Robin did you bother to read my previous post? Matt made no mention of the gash in the animal's foot and it was not visible in the original pic posted in the ad. I DID CONTACT MATT SHRIMPLIN PROMPTLY AS SOON AS THE ANIMAL ARRIVED! The Leo was 56 grams and looked healthy other than being "overbred" as Mrs Hammack stated.

This is FALSE! I TOLD YOU MATT, AFTER YOU MADE NO MENTION OF EITHER, and as I already stated by the time I went to take a pic of the exposed hemipenes they had retracted. They were not stuck and the animal was in no pain.[/QUOTE

see i am wondering if what matt is saying is true, because you had no problem keeping it with the cut foot and exposed hemipene.

...parasites could have come from several places.

This is correct, but I had the animal separate from all others in a quarantine tank as any newly introduced animal should be kept. Any parasites it may have certainly didn't come from any of my animals. That is not possible, because it never came in contact with a single one of my animals, other than the two that also came from Matt Shrimplin and were shipped with it, which by the way are doing fine and do not show any of the same symptoms as the Mack Snow Enigma in question.

Robin, stop instigating. The issue has been resolved, and I have received my apology stating I was correct and he was wrong. That should be plenty proof for you to back off. This is not your war to fight, you did not receive the gecko. Stop trying to fix something that's already been taken care of.

yes yes yes i read that but if it was soo horribly bad why did ken accept the gecko? and then pass this "sick" gecko to allee.

As I stated in my first post on this thread the animal was 56 grams with a big belly and just looked to be overbred. There was no sign of sickness, as in no runny feces and no vomiting what so ever. The feces was solid while the animal was with me. Implying that I would deliberately ship an animal that I knew to be sick is a fallacy. The animal has lost considerable weight from the time that it was with me.

see i am wondering if what matt is saying is true, because you had no problem keeping it with the cut foot and exposed hemipene.

I already told you that the hemipenes retracted in a matter of minutes after I had noticed them. PAY ATTENTION! A cut foot can be easily healed with the proper action, so I thought nothing of it accept that it needed to be kept clean and treated with Neosporin as I did.

yet you bought it :yesnod:

One more time for you Robin, get some Q-tips out, from the pick I was shown the animal looked to be healthy other than having been overbred. It is common knowledge that animals will thin some from breeding. The animal had a large belly, so from outward appearance there was no telling that this would all come about. It has lost a lot of weight from the time it was here and that is beyond my control. Robin's issue has nothing to do with this thread, but that is neither here nor there.
