    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i got those emails for the surinames for sale too. upon asking a couple questions it was dead silence from matt.
it took me two emails to get his last name..
he refused to tell me who's snakes they were or anything about them.the whole thing reeked of drama so that was that.
there are plenty of suris around ..try someone more willing to communicate ...this guy has got some kind of a problem.

Matthew I was gonna leave it all alone.....but new things came to light.

First let me say.
1.  If you are trying to be better...that is good.
2.  If you are still in business that is okay as long as you are honest with everything you do.

With those two things in mind....kindly tell the herp world what out of the business means to you?

Does being out of the business mean you can still broker your "friends" surinams?
I can understand selling your friends snakes for him....SPECIALLY if he has no experience and he happens to be close to you.

But what if your friend happens to be DAN ATKINSON from california?

Does brokering for one of the worst names in the industry mean you are out of the business?
There is nothing wrong with staying in business .........just don't start it out with lies.
 
I am selling some snakes for him cause I owe him some $$$ for some retics that used to be mine that i am getting back from him.  Everyone that is purchasing the surinames is being put in contact with him.  I am not passing off as mine and NO one has asked who the person was that i am selling for.  I have done thousands of dollars worth of business with Dan and have not had any problems and this goes back 3 years or so.

I am not lying about things I am just selling snakes for him.  The people are put in contact with him immediately also.  

Ritchie like in the email that you sent me, if things weren't on the up and up right now you would here about it and you believed me and those were your words.

I have not decieved anyone on this and when people want to know then they are put in contact with him or when they buy one or more then they are put in contact with him also.

all you had to say is "yes I am in the business and yes I am changing my ways".

but you did not do that.....you cam here saying Ritchie do your research.  Well research shows you are "brokering" animals for Dan Atkinson (bad guy).

Everyone is put in contact with Dan.
I have a cage monitoring system that was designed for the reptile market and working with alot of people on it to get ideas on what kind of bells and whistles they would like to see on this also.

I have changed my ways and have continued to show that through out this whole thing.  

Like i said my references can be contacted when i offered that to you before.

For the record.
I do believe Matt is changing his ways.
I have not had anything come up in a long time....except piddly stuff.
I believe he is trying to make a change....but has to hide his intentions of doing business because of his past.

I believe people can change and deserve a second chance.

Matt yes I know about your past.  It is gonna be a hard road.  But the rewards are definately bountifull.  all you gotta be is honest in everything you do.  go ahead and tell  people "yes I am in the business of buying and selling reptiles"  Some of them might not buy from you.....but sooner or later your list of references is going to get longer and longer.  Just let those references take care of the road ahead of you.

I know people who have stuff in their past.  they have turned out to be excellent people.

Here is what you do
Be honest.
Do not get greedy.
Always represent your animals truthfully.
Try to avoid having your name associated with the bad guys.
and give me free animals (okay maybe not this one).

matt had contacted me to sell me some suriname redtail boa babies-we agreed upon a price for the entire group, but he said then that he wanted to be paid prior to shipping, i do not hold someones past against them, but it is not our policy to pay first in any situation, we have been burned many many times. I asked him if references would help-he said yes-i furnished a long list of well respected references for him, and he them agreed to ship.  He then backed out the following day. The whole thing sounded kind of fishy to me, at one point he was advertising 19 but offered me 30--we made a deal and than he backed out.  I was willing to give him a proper chance at conducting business with us, but he conducted himself poorly and very unproffesional--this was a few weeks ago. I would have had more respect for him if he had said--these are not my animals and the owner of them is not willing to ship first as i am just brokering them, which is what i beleive the case was.  I just wish i had not wasted the time and energy especially since he contacted me to sell them. I would still be careful--the more parties involved in a deal, the more of a chance that you have for something to go wrong-Ben Siegel
 
Sorry Ben I did tell you that the gentleman that i was selling them for required payment up front.  I did say that.

no--you never mentioned another man period--you never mentioned that anyone else was involved in the deal-if you would have said that it would have been a closed subject,1-because i lose interest real fast in broker deals unless i know who is invoved , and 2-if you would have told me they were someone elses and that they want to be paid up front, i would have said oh well-so please do not fabricate aspects of the story.
 
I am not fabricating the story.  
Remember it took me the better part of the day to get back with you all this and then the next morning I had to back out of the plans with going through with this.  I told you that payment was required up front otherwise the gentleman could not do it and then COD was discussed after that point too.  Say what you are going to say, I know what was said and actually forwarded all emails to Dan too.

It just sounds like miscommunication to me.
 
I've purchased one of the Surinames that matt has up for sale on this board.  He was nothing but honest with me from the beginning as far as I know.  He told me outright that the animals were in someone elses hands.  I've spoken on the phone with the person that is holding the animals and although they haven't shipped due to high temps in my area, as well as his, he gave me nothing but options.  He will gaurantee live healthy delivery if I wait until temps drop.  He also was willing to ship w/o the live gaurantee, despite temps.  I opted to wait until temps drop as he offered to feed the animal until they are a bit lower.  He also said that as soon as I sent Matt the money for the suriname, it was immediately turned over to him.  He, in addition, offered to delta dash if I was willing to pay the difference in shipping costs...its 73 bucks sheesh.  And finally, he told me that if temps stayed too high too long, he would refund my money if I didn't want to wait.  
    I don't have my animal yet, true, but Matt and the gentleman who has my snake have given me information every time I requested it, are readily accessible to me if I have questions, and have been polite and forthcoming as well as giving me the option to back out of the deal if I got impatient.
    I made a deal with Matt before doing my research and was probably foolish to do so out of principle, however, Matthew Martin has, from what I see, not done anything but be helpful and straight with me.
    Wether or not I get a beautiful healthy snake remains to be seen, due to no fault of any of the involved parties, but at this point as long as things continue the way they have, I would describe my purchase from Matthew and the man he is dealing with as pleasant and if this works out, I'd do it again and again.

Well I've received the snake I purchased through Matthew and it's wonderful and healthy.  There were delays, but as I said before, they were due to Heat and double checking that we both knew when the animal was going to show up.  Thanks Matt.

Matt trying to change his ways ya right that will be the day, the guy dissappears comes back  after a year or so and says hes changing? he still only has probally one deal for ever ten that isnt shaddy, thats fine, anyone who reads this has been warned and when he starts up again I am just going to sit back and laugh at everyone,
I thought you were selling off a few oddballs you had matt, and then you wernt going to be selling anything else? atleast thats what you said in one of these prior threads, what happened to that, now you got a buisness? man I feel sorry for those animals
 
I guess I'm the one out of the ten then.  I got a good animal from my deal with Matt.  He was honest...I paid him first.  I didn't get burned.  So I guess I'm one of the lucky ones...
 
Don't worry Jason no one will have any problems.  Ritchie is not going soft we have just talked in depth is all.  I have a nice long reference list of people that are happy.  My animals are very well taken care of sorry.  Ask around, the moderator for the Bob Clark forum is having me watch some of his animals for him so I must be doing something right and take good care of the animals.  Start whatever you need to start, that is your right.

I understand you have never had nothing go wrong or done anything wrong in your life i see so you wouldn't know about change, but most normal people and even some not normal people at one time or another have, sorry you haven't experience that you are the exception.

I was going to buy some suris from him esp a t 125 a piece i couldn't resist but then i read this thread and everyone left and right is bashing him then the say Welll simply translated bla, bla, bla bla bla, then the price went from 125 to 150-then to 250 what the......

also to everyone reading this one thing I do want to point out is that when me and Kate figured out what Matt here was up to we both emailed him concering his atempts to rip us off, his response was to reply to those emails and curse us out and threaten us, Kate made the mistake of sending her phone number in one of those emails and he called her on the phone and made verbial threats to her health and well being, were tlaking about a man who called and threatened a women about 5ft3 and 100lbs or so, after the way he handles us to me its no surprise why you dont see to many negative posts against him, keep that in mind
