In short, person ran a Kingsnake ad and possibly a FC ad selling some geckos early June 2014 but removed the ad (kingsnake) shortly after. I have screen-captures of said ads available because I am neurotically skeptical with all online transactions.
June 9,2014 - I email Max Conklin (uses "[email protected]) "Hi Max. Do you have 1.1 or more of the geckos available in your ad". He replies back "i have a large colony of them. how many were you looking for?" We agree on the total with shipping and he says to pay $275 to "[email protected]" as his paypal address. I do this on June 10 via PP and credit card instantaneous funds.
We agree he ships out June 16 FedEx overnight but he never contacts me to give tracking#. I email him with no replies until Tuesday, June 17th "sorry. I had to leave town. I'm sorry. How about we ship out June 23rd?" and I agree.
Again, on June 24th, no confirmation of shipment, no box shipped, and no reply by him....yet again. He now won't answer emails, yet when I ad him on FB to my friends (under a nickname account he's probably not aware ) he is on the computer/iPhone and ads me. So he's seeing the messages and ignorning me.
When I escalate the the paypal claim, he replies one time, "sorry. I had to go to Colorado. We are going to have to do a refund. I know your patience has run out." But he never refunds any money nor does he reply ever again to my emails for a week.
PayPal has this clause that live lizards are considered "intangible" and therefore, they don't refund anything and advise me to contact my credit card company. My credit card DOES refund my $275. So he nearly got away with it - had I not paid via CC and called my company, I would have been scammed. Future buyers beware of this guy, Max Conklin. He is not legit.
