    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Caught this guy in the front yard today I think it's a melanistic red ear slider.

No disrespect or anything like that, but, the picture is very blurry. However, I am inclined to agree with you. How did you acquire this specimen? How long have you had him/her? Congratulations in any ever even on your "newest" acquisition.

It's more likely to be a yellowbellied slider, Trachemys scripta scripta, not a red-eared slider Trachemys scripta elegans. I would review your state laws if it is legal to keep a native, wild-caught turtle. Sometimes it is legal only if you have a valid fishing license (which is the case in Georgia, and then only up to 10 animals are allowed).

It's ok I got him in my front yard I live on 6 acres of land with a pond.
I am glad you did not get offended by my post earlier in the thread. That is cool you have six (6) acres along with a pond.

When you first posted the picture, I assumed, note the word in assumed, that your specimen did not come from nature. Hence my previous comment.

I will get a better pic tomorrow.
I am looking forward to seeing an updated photo.

I completely agree with you. Is it common for Trachemys scripta scripta to be melanistic?

Yes correct I have 6 acres and the pond is about 1 acre over all. I will get some better pictures tomorrow been kind of watching this Storm.lol

Yes, older males and females can turn completely black, although it is more common in females from what I've observed.
I never ever know that. So, thank you, for sharing that information with me. I will admit, that, I am not very familiar with the herps of North America/the U.S.A.

Hope all went well with the storm. Of course, I hope you had minimal to no damage to your property.
