There. I did offer as I said as I believe that good should be rewarded. Its the only way to teach those who have done wrong that there is a positive. With Chris. I feel you have to teach him like you would a child..But he declined.


And as far as Gillian goes, Yes I was shocked. She got flagged by someone and received a 2 pt infraction. When requested info on it and was told even *'d our curse words are not allowed. I see people curse on here all the time and post word for word their conversations. Ive seen them *'d out, which I thought was great manners to do so even though it takes away from the content as of course, Chris didnt star them himself. Not sure why Gillian was reprimanded for it and others have gone unnoticed

Issue #1: You are free to believe as you wish. I believe that bad deeds should have consequences, and I believe they will in this case- people who read this thread will very likely have second thoughts about doing business with Chris. I know I would NEVER send him any money, from the evidence presented he has had too many bad business deals with too many people at this point.

Issue #2: Only some people are caught for speeding. That is not a valid response to a ticket. The mods cannot read every single word posted on this site, nor should they have to.

While I believe that perhaps some of the pms I saw are relevant to bad character, it is up to the administration here to decide what kinds of things they want posted.

But Amanda, Chris is a grown man! In fact, based on those pics, he's at least middle aged. I think he is well beyond learning through positive reinforcement! Also, how can you think of rewarding him when that whole transaction took place to cover his wrong toward Scott! I am sorry, but I don't see that as generosity on his part. He was getting bailed out by sending you animals that he probably paid much less for than you paid to Scott, because he probably bought them wholesale. I would bet that he was not out nearly as much as you were. Yes, he finally paid Scott, but why? Because he was taking heat in TWO THREADS here and it was likely to hurt his business! If you ask me, he responds better to negative reinforcement!

I cannot think better of a man who abused me because he treated me badly until a get an apology for those emails at the very least, and really, until I see that he no longer has the tendency to treat people and animals the way he obviously has. I think the only thing that will make a jerk like Chris Sulwer rethink how he behaves is an ache in his pocketbook when people stop buying from him!

I am glad that the deal was good for you, and I commend you for trying to help Scott. You have a good heart. ;)
 
I haven't been following this thread, and actually don't have time to review it tonight, as I'm getting ready to leave for Africa. However, I'm leaving a note for the other mods to review and address it as necessary.

Profanity is not welcome on this site, even if it is in a direct quote.
When posting emails/PMs, it is recommended that the content be censored. I've seen it posted that masked profanity is still profanity, my recommendation would be to ***** the entire word (as opposed to just replacing a few letters) or to use :censored:.

Were these messages sent through this site, or through private email. If through this site, please forward them to me. (I can't police private emails, but abuses of the sites contact systems can be addressed)
 
They were sent through private email. I think the question we have is whether it is appropriate to post emails as evidence that contain profanity.

So I should post the emails with the profanity disguised then?

If he sent them through Fauna it is a violation of this site. Abusing and threatening members using the private message system or email system here will quickly end his participation.

This concept has been addressed many times, and is even mentioned in the rules for posting. Sometimes things are just not seen - there are a vast number of posts on this site every day, and there is no way we can review them all...so yes, things sometimes get missed. Also, moderators may react differently to the posts, and the same moderator can respond differently to nearly identical posts depending what is going on in the thread. (ie. once I warn against pursuing a given topic, or some other line is crossed, I will give infractions to anybody that heads down that path for a period of time).
Finally, one shouldn't assume that things are ignored just because they aren't addressed publicly. Warnings and infractions are given & received quite frequently without the knowledge of the general membership.

So the issue with Toni's post in which she quoted Chris directly is that she didn't censor the profanity? Does that mean that I should post his emails to me, but censor the profanity?

I sent you a message, as well. I can't tell you to post but I did give you my opinion as just another member.
 
I must be missing something here - if an email contains profanity, it can't be posted? You just said to censor the whole word, but this constitutes altering a quotation, thereby editing the quote, which is against the BOI rules. So no one can reference third party quotations now that contain cuss words, because they cannot reference them without repercussion...am I the only that doesn't see any logic in this, other than the dubiously self-righteous stance of ridding the site of a couple cuss words. If the person is QUOTING someone, in what way does it damage the website's credibility/ethics to have cuss words in a CLEARLY DENOTED QUOTATION? I know Rich has a website to keep intact and I know all about doing what he thinks is right, but let's use some logic here. There's CLEARLY some emails here that could use posting (threats of sending Hells Angels?? COME ON - this is potentially blatantly criminal behaviour here). People can only get offended (I don't fathom this idea, but apparently some people are still disgusted by cussing) at Chris - not the poster.

Chris, I have not heard from you for another week. There are other legless lizards available right now on KS. Please send the lizard or give me a refund so that I can get one from someone else. This has gone on for over 4 months now. There have been a few understandabe delays, some of which I was forced to make, but you could have sent it more times than not, and especially could have in the last two weeks. I have been home from the evacuation for two weeks now. You say that you don't intend to rip me off, but it sure feels like you are when you don't even answer my emails. If you are really a conscientious person, send the lizard or refund my money.

We don't alter what you post here or delete posts unless they violate a site rule. There is no rule that states what any other person states or quotes must be unaltered. It has always been the policy to issue warning points for profanity, quoted or not.

Trust me, censoring a few cuss words will not lessen the information posted.

Nobody told her to post or not to. She inquired about the site rules and was given an answer. She has chosen to post censoring those particular words. Nothing preventing her from posting.

Thank you for posting, Donna. Might want to consider reporting to kingsnake the stupidly flagrant threat of gang attack? I don't even know what you'd call that - two Hells' Angels were just arrested for a stabbing last week.
 
I told Chris that I was not interested in his free bearded dragon. I'm not interested in anything from him free or otherwise. It has taken five months to get back what belonged to me. Chris has lied time and time again and now I don't have to deal with his lies anymore. This has been THE WORST experience I have had in dealing with anyone on the web and I would warn anyone who is considering buying from him to save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. If you have read any of this thread and still decide to buy from him, you have nobody to blame but yourself if he screws you over. He lies and uses foul language...he has even made threats as you can see from a few posts back. Not a direct threat, but a roundabout one alluding to the fact that he will send the Hell's Angels in retaliation for bad mouthing him. What a LOSER!
