In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I only feed pinkies to my adult dragons and large juvies. I personally wont give them fuzzies or hoppers. I am sure they would eat them with no problems but it's just my preference. I wait for them to be at least 12-14" in length and around 150 to 200 grams in weight .They get one pinkie about once a month. Gravid females get them about every 10 days or so before and after egg laying. If they are tiny pinkies I will give 2. I still feed veggies and bugs just like any other day.

And how many mealies will and adult eat in a day? how about super worms? roaches?

They would probably eat as many as you let them eat. :hehe:

I feed a small amount of mealworms and supers every couple days but not enough that they will fill themselves on them. They are like a little snack. I still feed crickets as their main diet.

I tried roaches once and it wasn't my cup of tea but the dragons did love them and ate as many as they could get. You could feed roaches just like crickets as they are easy to digest and very nutritious.

SO a diet of roaches as a staple with mealies or supers mix in one or twice a week just to give varity, and then a pink monthly would be ok? Also what veggies do you recomend as a staple as as treats? do they eat a lot of veggies?

That sounds like a good mix of feeders to me. I can't see you having any problems with it.

Beardies love fruits and veggies and a portion of their diet should consist of them. Here is a link Read Me that gives a rundown of fruits and veggies that beardies can eat. It also lists the ones you should avoid.

I'm going to politely disagree on this one. It's not that the regiment you've suggested is all that dangerous but there are better alternatives to mealies and pinkies.

Mealies in general contain little nutritional value, a backwards ca-p ratio and too much chitin in the shell which is hard to digest. As you're recomending them be used, a few here and there, there isn't much of a problem but if fed on a regular basis eventually the undigested chitin can build up causing an impaction. Superworms contain less chitin and are more nutritious, IMO this makes them a better choice for the treat feeder.

Pinkies have their own issues that we've known about for years. They are often full of parasites, although f/t solves that. The bone, even soft bone, is an impaction risk. They contain too way too much fat, which is why most people that feed them do it, because they want to plump their girls back up between clutches. If fed regularly over time your dragon can develop fatty liver disease and it is deadly. Again superworms are a good alternative and a few of them will fatten up your beardie almost as fast without the risks. Waxies would work well for this type of treat feeding also.

Since it was brought up, I love roaches. Lobster roaches have got to be the best staple feeder I have ever come across. They are about the size of crix, don't make noise, don't smell and breed like mad with little to no help from you. Now if they would just call them lobster beetles and drop the roach out of the name I think many more people would be willing to try them. Silkworms make an excellent staple feeder also if you just can't get over the 'roach' thing lol.
