Alright so, I am aware Michael has a lot of good reviews to back him up. However I could not overlook the hard facts in my recent dealings with him. He had straight out lied about multiple things and caused issues that I do not want to happen to anyone else if you plan on doing business with him.

I recently purchased a 2014 female Platinum Golden Child retic from Michael, I had asked him if he had a couple females to choose from as I was spending a good amount of money and wanted to make sure I could choose what I was getting if he did have a few. He informed me that he did not have more then 1 female left. I had also inquired about his sunfire het genetic stripes, to which he also informed me he had none left of.

I realized a week after I got my GC, that he listed multiple females for sale, of the same exact morph I just purchased. As well as listed the other snake he "claimed" to not have, the sunfire het genetic stripe. :ack2:

I don't like dealing with dishonest people, but maybe he didn't want to lose his sale if he flat out told the buyer they couldn't choose which GC they were getting for the money. :NoNo:

The next issues was during the shipping process. I had paid in full, and it was time to discuss shipping the snake. I work 6 days a week, sometimes a full 7. And he was not willing to work with me on shipping, I had asked him to ship on a day that I could be home to sign for it, and he kept saying it was better for "him" if he shipped on a Monday. So I had to take the Tuesday off to be home. I was up at 8am, as FedEx delivers between 8-10am here.

Hours later, 10:30am came about, and no package. I contacted him immediately to let him know that FedEx was for once, late. He asked that I keep him posted, 11am rolled around, and before I know it 1pm. I then started getting email replies from what she claimed to be his "wife". She told me she apologizes, but she apparently shipped my GC to someone else. While I don't know how you put two of the same labels on boxes going to different places, I understand it "can" happen? :shrug01: :rolleyes:

I talked on the phone with her a few times that day, and she informed me that the buyer who was mistakenly sent my GC, was shipping her right back the same day. So the next morning she sent me an email saying the GC was back safe and sound, and would ship out the following Monday. The responses then stopped for several days, and I was not able to get a hold of either Michael or his wife, till the night before Monday. I had spent all day trying to get a hold of them to confirm they were shipping, as I had taken off a "second" day of work to be home to sign for the GC. His wife finally answered the phone (Oddly enough he never spoke to me "himself") she did not apologize for the delay and just told me it would be shipped tomorrow as we had talked. I did not receive a tracking number, and blindly waited from 8-10am once again. My GC did arrive, and she seemed to be alright aside from stressed.

My overall business with Michael was just not something I would do again. :shrug01: He lied about multiple facts, and did not see the need to contact me back when I needed confirmation that she was being shipped.

The shipping box was not much of a box to say the least, it was very poorly put together and looked like it had been through World War 2. :ack2:

Honesty is a big key when I deal in reptiles, without that it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I have the snake I purchased, but if I had it to do over again I would not purchase from Michael a second time.​
 
Okay I don't get the first part of your rant, about different animals being available at a different time, maybe he didn't plan on selling those at that point in time? Maybe these are hold backs?

As far as the shipping do you have pictures of the box?

I know hes going through a lot at the moment, doesn't sound like him. Is he aware of this Thread?

I agree with the personal problems.

But he could of been holding them back and then decided to sell them I mean the mans house did just burn down maybe hes trying to raise more funds now. And the time frame of "One week" doesn't make anysense because it sounds like it took about a couple weeks for the OP to receive the package.

Or maybe those animals were on hold with a deposit and someone didn't pay?
 
I can understand the frustration caused by this deal.
However, it is not going to any good for people to assume, speculate, etc., at this point in time.
Hearing, from the seller, is what is needed.
Showing proof/facts would help as well.

Still waiting for FedEx, they aren't usually late with overnight packages (Usually received them around 9am), I noticed the tracking info was just updated to N/A for estimated arrival date/time. They are suppose to be guaranteed delivery by 10:30am. Hopefully the FedEx carrier is out for delivery. I will keep you posted.

It's 50 minutes past the guaranteed delivery time, did you get any insurance with FedEx on the package? I've been up since 8am waiting for it, so I know for a fact that there is no chance I missed the delivery. (Have also checked outside my door multiple times and there is no missed package paper) I would of thought FedEx would take more priority in getting overnight packages delivered on time.

Their is no 10:30 guarantee on this package. Technically they have until 4pm today to deliver. I dont know what is going on I tried to track and didnt get any information I called fedex and they told me to call back in 30 min because their system is updating and they can not give me any information or track any packages right now. I will call back in 30 min and see what they say. If you want to call and see if they tell you something different that would be good. Please let me know if it arrives or you get any updates. I will let you know if I get any news as well. I'm sorry its not their yet I ship through shipyourreptiles and right now they dont offer a 10:30 guarrentee its just overnight express delivery.

Ah. I was pretty sure FedEx does state delivery between 8:00-10:30am. But if this particular shipment didn't have the time set, then I'm not sure when it will be delivered. I apologize if I seem over-worried about it, this is just the first time I haven't had a reptile delivered by 10:30am. I am in no way blaming you for the late delivery, it is more FedEx that I am a little disappointed in right now. I'm going to continue to keep an eye out and check again with FedEx. But at this point the best I can do is hope she arrives sooner then 4pm. I will keep you posted if I hear anything new on it. Thank you for your good communication.

Just to update you. The man still has not seen my message on facebook but I have contacted the facility the boxes are being held at and both boxes are their for sure he has not picked up yet. I don't have a phone number for him or I would call him. He seems to be a good guy I don't think he will give me any problems returning her. I have sent him a return label so all he has to do is print the label tape it to box and send it right back. I hope he reads my message before he picks up that way he knows whats going on and he can have the label with him to ship it right back to me.

Now First off I said I didnt have any sunfire hets left and at the time I didn't. I posted that snake because my house burnt down and I need to move some snakes I intended to keep.

Secondly at the time I only had the one platinum golden child het available I told you that. I have many babies every year I hold back, then I have some feeding better then others, and I have some that have shed and some that have not. Your snake was a well established feeder. the other ones I had were either in shed, not fed enough, not sexed, or set aside for hold backs. It was the only one I had available ready to go.

On the part were she had to take off work on Tuesday twice because I shipped to the wrong address was completely our fault but we are human and it was unfortunate but I did everything I could do to get the snake back safely to me and back to her. What happen was I had multiple tabs open with shipping labels that I was printing off some how I printed two of the same labels and when the fedex driver came to pick up he noticed it and printed a new label with different tracking numbers but to that address. he assumed we were shipping both boxes to the same address. When everything was figured out I contacted the person right away it went to and walked them through the process of shipping the animal back that night. Once I received the snake back the next day I told sarah and I fed the snake and got it water right away. the snake ate and was doing very well with everything it went through. I didnt want to ship right away so I said lets shoot for the first of the week again I didnt insist on Monday I did say I ship only mon-wed. I could of shipped any of those days for her I just said Monday would be better because i had others going out that day.

Finally I told her on wednesday the 20th that we would ship out on monday she said that would be fine on the phone. My house was struck by lightning and caught fire on Thursday night ( next day) so I had no internet at the house nothing lost the whole house and everything in it. so No i didnt get back to her right away. I posted on facebook the whole thing on Friday morning on facebook from the hotel to let all my customers and friends know I will not be online and to call me if they needed me.

Maybe I could have communicated more the day before shipping to let her know hey its coming but I already gave her tracking numbers and I did tell her I was shipping on monday which she agreed on.

My house burnt down Thursday me and my family are living in a hotel and I still shipped out first thing on Monday. My wife apologized to her many times on the phone and called her a few times to keep her updated on everything.

The day this happened I asked her if she wanted a refund or did she want to wait and get the snake she said she wanted the snake and she seemed to be very understanding but then goes and posts this so I feel bad for her experience and its unfortunate that she had to wait and take off work twice. I wish it had went better. But posting on here that i am a liar or dishonest is way off and harsh.

I am so sorry for the disaster that took your home. I'm hoping that you have insurance and help so you can get another house soon, and I am hoping the local community, family and friends are helping as far as snake care, snake food, and so on for any critters you still have.
 
Seems to me that the OP did misunderstand about Monday. Thinking it was the only day rather than just a matter of it being a better day (not the only day possible).
Also made some assumptions about availability.
Can understand the OP's frustration (re. Shipping) but, if all is as explained, do not think this was BOI "Bad Guy" worthy.
There was an error made but it was corrected and an apology (or multiple apologies) was given.
IMO This situation does not make Michael a bad guy.

On a side note: Michael, am sorry to hear that your house burned down, from a lightening strike, and wish you, and yours, the best.
 
Sorry about home situation Michael. Hope you get it sorted. I can see Sarah being upset also. I think just bad timing all around.
 
Bad timing and misunderstandings on both sides is understandable considering the circumstances. The shipping blunder shouldn't have happened but, as Michael said, we are humans and prone to mistakes. I don't see this as an issue where personal life conflicted with business interests since he lost his home (and place of business, essentially). Not deserving of a "bad guy" thread, although an advisory that this seller may have stock/shipping concerns might be warranted. Also, bravo to the seller for coming here and explaining in plain detail his version of events and providing supporting proof... without profanity or attitude, no less!

Michael, my sincerest condolances regarding your loss however I am glad to hear you and your family endured. Best wishes and luck getting back on your feet.
 
I was being very polite about my post, as I was informing others of how my buying experience went with Michael. I didn't receive a tracking number for it when it was shipped the second time, either way I was going to be up waiting for FedEx so I did not miss it. The first label they used to ship her was already "used" as far as I was aware since it did ship out and was carried via FedEx, so even if FedEx let them ship it twice with the same label, they did not inform me of that or let me know what tracking number she was being shipped under the second time.

Yes we can assume the other GC's were hold backs, but for their to be multiples of the same exact genetics of hold backs going up for sale right after I purchased one, didn't make me feel too sure about him being honest with me when I had asked if he had others available.

Either way, if things were just all poor coincidence on Michael's end, it did not leave a very positive buying experience with me. :shrug01:

I am aware things can happen, so I am not blaming him for being a horrible seller, I am just simply stating how my overall experience went for the future reference of other buyers.​
 
I can see your side also Sarah. The whole shipping thing just in it's self can be frustrating.

This is the heart of the matter IMO. Regardless of how great of a breeder, customer service guy or human being.....at the end of the day it all falls down to how you left the other person feeling at the end of a deal. While some folks just can't be happy no matter how honest and and nice you are to them, for the most part I've found that a little communication early on that is sustained during the whole process will go a lot farther than apologies ever will.

Actually I am curious, maybe confused. Was the OP aware that you might have others available in the near future once they shed, Fed and we're well established? In one of your emails you stated "I'll take a look tomorrow and get you some pics to CHOOSE FROM". You also stated "it was the only one I had available READY TO GO". Sorry if I missed something or misread, but she should have been made aware when she asked if there would be others available that soon (one week). Jmo

Can you explain what Michael did wrong here? Most everyone ships Monday-Wednesday. Did you ask for a Wednesday or Thursday delivery and he refused? Can you also provide proof of the lies you're accusing him of? Do you understand how he might need to sell some things he hadn't planned on selling because he lost his house? I can understand being upset because you had to take off an extra day from work but the rest of it seems unfounded to me.
 
I told her on the phone the tracking numbers would be the same because i didn't use her label I printed the wrong one the first time so the tracking numbers were the same. I told her that on the phone. I apologized to her many times for the shipping problem. accidents happen and I made a mistake I am human.

I showed you a pic of the animal you agreed to take its not like you didnt know what you were getting. I am sorry your so upset and had a bad buying experience I really am!

To sum it up, your mad I'm selling hold backs that you couldn't buy or choose from a few weeks ago add it together with the whole shipping problem and you got a real good story.

I hope you feel better now that you were able to post this with the hopes of preventing anyone else from doing business with us.

You keep saying "you" spoke to me on the phone, you never spoke to me once. Your wife did both times I was able to get a hold of someone on the phone. And she did not give me the tracking number, she just said it was shipped and should be there the next morning. Nor did she tell me the tracking info was indeed the same. Not sure if your wife is posting on your behalf, but I never personally talked to you on the phone Michael. :shrug01:

And you did not inform me that there were any other GC's that would be ready in the near future, I would think if it was me selling them, that I would tell the buyer that I have multiple for sale, if they'd like to wait and choose from a group, OR take what was ready at the time.

I am not looking to prevent anyone from doing business with you, I just think there's a lot of facts that don't add up. :ack2:
