I was really hoping for an exact date received so I could work this all out in my own pedantic manner, but I think I have the receiving date pretty close to nailed down from the emails in the note pad attachment posted by Mr. Taylor in post #25.
Let’s look at this for a second in regard to time line indicators and see if we can find a bad guy.
On 01-14-2008 in post #1 we were told;
bennetts said:
When both arrived I sent an email that they both looked fine, but I was unhappy about the patterning of the male. ………….
Within the next week or so, the male looked more and more dried out and dehydrated.
It took a month to get him to eat.
He ate a second meal and went into a shed.
Finally after 45 days or so he went into a shed cycle again and now started to develope mouth rot due to not having the old shed gone yet.
On 01-17-2008 in post #50 the story changes slightly and after members asking about vet care we first hear about a vet.

This will be my only and last post on this. I will ………. give the proper timeline.
I received the snake, within 3 to 4 days the snake was and turned super dry.
The snake getting dried out and not eating for a month is the issue.
Then the bad shed.
I didn't take it to the vet bc He made it seem that if there was a problem he would take the animal back.
Lastly I will say, the only thing that counts is this snake. I have a vet
appointment. The best vet I could find was out on vacation for 2 weeks and
didn't have an appointment until this next monday.
Now according Mr. Bennett in post #1 “
When both arrived I sent an email that they both looked fine, but I was unhappy about the patterning of the male”.
In the email, (note pad attachment posted by Mr. Taylor in post #25), Mr. Taylor was responding to Mr. Bennett’s complaint on the looks of the snake on Monday Dec 3rd, 2007 at 9:28 PM so I would have to assume that the snakes arrived on or about November 30.
That being the case Mr. Bennett started this thread just about the 44th or 45th day.
Ok, now when did the “
dried out and dehydrated” look start?
First post says, “
Within the next week or so”, which would make 7 – 10 days roughly the way I see it.
within 3 to 4 days”.
Did the story really change? What possible motivation would there be for changing the story? Is there any evidence to show it did?
Well first I have to say that I am not the brightest bulb in the box but I think the story did change.
The story was changed because people kept pointing out that the animal was likely receiving improper care/humidity during that “
week or so” hence the dehydration. The OP needed to get others to see that he could not have been the cause of the “
dried out and dehydrated” look so he shortens the time line to “
within 3 to 4 days”.
Is there any evidence to support this theory? I believe there is.
In response the Mr. Taylor’s reply to his complaint on the looks of the snake on Monday Dec 3rd, 2007 at 9:28 PM, (note pad attachment posted by Mr. Taylor in post #25), Mr Bennett sent the following email at 22:22:21 (10:22 PM) the same day;
“
Michael,
When we talked on the phone you told me even the pictures didn't represent the snakes very well. And, that they would color up in a couple days.
This has nothing to do with the color game. This has to do with, like I told you that day on the phone, I did not think that he had a very aberant pattern, but you must not of heard me say it. I'm not trying to take advantage of anyone, I just felt I should tell you how I felt about the snake. I bought several jungle litter mates which look more jungle than him. I just thought he would have had more of a jungle pattern, but if this is your line of jungles than you did no wrong and I exspect nothing from you.
Dan
PS...They are both doing good. He is in a good home and will be loved all the same.”
Now this email was sent on Dec 3rd, 2007, day 3 or 4 of Mr. Bennett’s ownership of these snakes and not only is there no mention of a “
dried out” appearance but he says “
They are both doing good.”.
I believe that his puts the real time line back to the originally stated “
week or so” or 7 – 10 days which is plenty of time for a snake to become dried out and or dehydrated if not maintained under the proper conditions.
Are there other signs of improper care? Possibly?
This feeding would have been around Dec 30?

Do Boas always readily eat when being kept in improper conditions?
This would have been 5 – 7 days later on say January 4 – 6?
bennetts said:
He ate a second meal and went into a shed.
This would have been roughly the same time post #1 was made Jan 14?
bennetts said:
Finally after 45 days or so he went into a shed cycle again and now started to develope mouth rot due to not having the old shed gone yet.
So now IF the OP had knowledge of proper care why was it not provided or why would he make up this story?
I think clues can be found in both post #1 & 50;

If someone was not willing to take a snake they believed to be ill to a vet because they expected to send it back it follows that they might not have been all that careful about the care they were providing at first for the same reason.
I agree that finding a good vet can be difficult, especially in western rural areas. I have to make the 100 mile one way drive to Pueblo Colorado for my rescue turtles and farther to Colorado Springs or Denver for my other reptiles.
But were I in or around Cheyenne Wyoming I could go to the Cheyenne Pet Clinic which works with Reptiles. Failing that I would head down to Denver which is only about an hour and a half from Cheyenne.
Sorry for the long speculative post, I really had little else to do since most of my snakes are still bruminating and Fauna was off line.
The politics boards got boring.
Anyway I would do business with Mr., Taylor if he had something I was looking for at the right price.
BTW, If my spelling is off blame Fauna because the spell check is not working. It's not because I have never been able to spell. ROTFL
