    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

As for dealing with him, do as you wish, I will not!! I thought Mike was a friend, however, I cannot count the personal attacks on me by his trolls, or should I say by Mike himself. The hell with that lying scumbag!!!

Learn something new. I thought it was shared. I know the line was. DSL I new I got my own IP.

Dial Up I know people can share the same IP ban on IP you could ban a lot
 
I would use caution with any company that says they can guaranty to find the perpetrator
of a DDoS attack. I work as a Network Security Consultant and can tell you very very very few of these attacks are traceable. The problem stems from the use of overseas
open anonymous proxies. It is virtually impossible to get the owners of these overseas
servers to release their log files.
Almost all bots used in a DDoS attack these days allow for a file of anonymous proxies
that it will cycle through so it looks like the attack is coming from 100's if not 1000's of servers all over the world.

Also I know it is probably not the case but in all fairness should be brought up.
It is possible if Mr. Greathouse has an unsecured wireless router that someone could
be using his connection. I just actually did a scan with my laptop in my area and found 4
open wireless routers I could connect to. Now mind you the person would need to be within the routers range (probably a city block or so) to use this connection.
But it does bring up the possibility that if he has someone in his area who is not fond of him they could be doing this.

dialup gets a new IP every time it connects (typically, you can have static) - and there are some ISPs that use NAT with dialup.

There are also some apartment complexes with ethernet service from the complex that uses NAT.

With NAT - you have a unique private IP but your public IP is shared - as your connection actually goes through a router that translates public IP to the private network IP.
 
Just for the record, I am not willing to have anyone here engage in any sort of collective effort to round up funds to try to trace down the source of the DDoS.

I certainly can't vouch for the accuracy of their claims, only that in a personal phone conversation and MANY emails during the DDoS attack, they seemed pretty convincing to me. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Again, I am not claiming that Mike was behind this.

I should of added that I really highly doubt it is the case. But all
possibilities should be put forth. Now that's my professional opinion.
My personal opinion is Mr. Greathouse just got added to my do not
do business with list.

Wow. I'm actually shocked. Pretty convincing evidence Rich. Well, to my untrained eye anyway.

I would like to hear what Mike has to say. I never would have figured him for this. I just don't know what to think.
