In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A thought just dawned on me that someone could potentially line breed for smaller herps.

In the leopard gecko industry there are currently "Giant" and "Super Giant" lines being bred.

Has anyone ever attempted this? Is there even a market for this? Would it be harmful to the animals?

Just curious more than anything.

I honestly don't think it's good. There are some dwarf geckos and they usually don't live that long.

I think that's what you would end up with. Geckos need to be a good weight to lay eggs. I just can't think of any good reason to even try it.

Well I really don't think line breeding for smaller animals would inherently end up with something akin to achondroplastic geckos for lack of a better word, I'm not certain it would be harmful. To play the devil's advocate, let's say it does not harm the animal in any way. Would this be a desirable trait by any collectors?

Just to clarify, I am not breeding for this trait nor do I intend to as I certainly believe it would cause egg binding issues but.... Curiosity killed the cat.

I can't speak for others, but I don't find it appealing. Maybe some others will reply with how they feel.

I am not of a mind that "bigger is always better" (because not everything is) but, with any potential problems aside (should any exist), I wouldn't find it appealing either (with Leos).
