Correct me if Im wrong and Im not defending either party but was this BOI created because Ty got his feelings hurt because Mitch decided not to do buisness with him? Isnt that his decison to do buinsess with whoever he wants. So yeah he led him onto thinking a transaction was going to take place but just like anyone else if he doesnt feel comfortable he can pull out. If he decides to do it by not responding to his emails thats on him.
However,I dont think its right of Mitch to put out all these accusations without proof.

On 6/11/2011 Ty informed Mitch that he was supplying Petsmart. There are several subsequent messages from Mitch stating the "the next hatch is partially yours" and inquiring about other animals Ty might need. Apparently Ty selling to the Big Chains was not an issue at that point.

When did you begin to find that objectionable Mitch? When you realized your mouth had written a check you couldn't cash?

The number of breeders in the US who produce the quantity of Beardies that was being discussed in those emails can be counted on one hand. I am guessing that one of the fingers on that hand does not belong to Mitch. He has a 6,100 sq ft facility. Do the math.

Over 2000 Petsmart and Petco locations, but only 1000 baby Beardies, 40 cages at 25 babies each. Does anyone remember how many baby Beardies that Sandfire sold to the same companies?

Did I say that there was a problem buying or selling? I choose not to deal with him. I'm sure that he could sell large lots to many people, but how many were lost in the process?

Last year, I purchased 550 adult Beardies from Flukers, now we don't breed Beardie.

I guess you forgot that Ty said he had the caging to handle 10,000 babies.
And so what if he only wanted them in 1000 lots (though I seem to recall him being willing to take more, IF YOU COULD PROVIDE THEM) - not like all the stores are going to buy all their dragons at once....and it's a whole lot easier to deal with smaller (relatively speaking) numbers, which should make sense to you considering this next statement

Interesting business move - buying that many adults, then not breeding them. Lack of success on your part? Too much work? Easier to just buy babies in bulk and move them out quickly? Doesn't really matter, just seems odd to point out that you purchased that many adults, and a year later you don't breed them.

You are avoiding this issue. Some BOI threads are fairly long, I believe it is within the interests of the community to keep reminding you that you said something and won't, or can't, back it up.

That is you choice and that is fine. Unfortunately, you think it is fine to lie about how many animals you have for sale. It is obvious to me you never had those numbers and had lied and could not deliver. You have a history of talking big and not delivering. You think it is OK to let a customer hang for months and decide that you don't want to sell to him after all and you don't owe him an explanation of why. That goes to the basic of you character. You should always try to treat other people like you want to be treated. You should not be making habits of making lies and numbers up whenever and whatever you feel like it to boost you gigantic ego.

Our loss rate is very low. I have been breeding and caring for them for more than 20 years now and we have strict protocols in place. If I lost the numbers that you are implying here, I would be no longer selling them now.

I wonder why after buying that many (another pulled number?) breeders you decided to stop breeding them? Couldn't keep them alive? In one year you actually killed that many adult dragons? I guess you were talking from your own experiences when you were ranting about them pooping on top of each other and biting off toes and tails. If set up properly and fed properly, thing like this is a rare occurrence.

All I want from starting this post is for you to realize that it is not OK to lie and cheat people. I sincerely hope that you sit down and have a heart to heart with yourself and start treating people like how you want to be treated. It is a daily struggle for me as well but once you decide that would be your focus, new found opportunities and friendship would happen. I think I have said everything I want to say about this. Stop bothering me and find someone else." After reading and rereading this thread, I have to wonder if this nonexistent "transaction" wasn't a setup. Seems like an attempt to settle a vendetta and is definitely personal. At the point when someone tells me to "find someone else", that is exactly what I would have done. Case closed. Not condoning the Behm family or their practices, nor am I condemning them, but for all the hotshots who REQUIRE proof of their accusations, I have seen none from the accusers against Behm. I have percieved this whole thread as personal and have seen little substance to warrant a bad guy thread. Just sayin'. Good luck to you all. Don't like the Behms, don't deal with them.

As to Ty's character and his ability to raise reptiles...his farm is absolutely incredible and the animals are certainly healthy and well cared for. We were there with our Herp Society and his operation is well cared for, well built and is being maintained continuously. Ty has a passion for reptiles and to see that someone is claiming he has such a dead loss is offensive. We've known Ty for years and I just can't believe that such an accusation is true.
We don't know Mitch and I don't want to speculate about why he chose not to do business with Ty. That is his choice but I just want others to know that Ty is a passionate man when it comes to his animals. He does whatever he can to assure that they are well care for, kept in clean roomy enclosures, and are given whatever they need to thrive.

I am a little late jumping in on this, but I am an employee at Ty's farm.

First of all, if I or anyone else put 10,000 beardies in a tub...He'd beat us..and possibly be amazed they all fit in a tub....Never more than 25!

Ty constantly drills us (positively) to take care of the animals best of our ability and always corrects our mistakes, which leads to LOW death rates at the farm. If deaths occur, we always try to figure out what happened/fix the problem/etc. 50% loss...I'd probably cry myself to sleep if we lost that many animals a day. O_O

Ty is a great and encouraging person, but he is also very against lying, so I bet he would win the $5,000 non-profit donation...

I don't doubt you for a second. But Noone here has proof in this thread of any accusations on either side. So where is this going. I am sure that both sides will find those who like and dislike them. Respectfully, this thread will go nowhere and has begun and will end with nothing more than personal opinions devoid of substance and proof. It's all about personal dislike, competition, whatever. Was the Behm family the only option here? No. the OP thrived before confronting them and will surely suvive without them.

I agree. When I first starting reading the thread, I did not plan to post at all. The original post was about a seller who didn't follow through, wasted some time, and didn't seem to offer good communication to potential buyers. There were no monetary damages, and I didn't see what my post could offer, since I don't know the (potential) seller.

But then unsupported allegations were made. I could see that this thread would develop into something that would either add to, or subtract from, the integrity of each party. It would probably become a possible decision making tool for future buyers and sellers dealing with either party. Because of this turn of events, I think that posts supporting (or not supporting) the reputation and character of Mitch or Ty will probably be helpful to future readers. That is why I decided to post in this thread. If Mitch had simply said "I chose not to do business with Ty for my own personal reasons", and left it at that, then I probably would not have posted here at all.

Well said, and I don't doubt Ty's reputation or his skills. I do get tired of the double standard so often exhibited on the BOI. People here tend to be selective about who should be subject to certain general rules and standards. Slander was thrown in both directions. Whether it be the case here or not, silence isn't always an admission of guilt. While I believe that many people here can make a pretty accurate judgement from what is posted in this thread, "people speaking" for anyone can be construed as hearsay. While affective, it's not proof of anything. Where is the proof of accusations regarding Mitch's alleged illegal practices? Just sayin', what's good for the goose... in any case, Ty seems to be a stand up person. Good luck always.

There's no evidence of anything there. For all we know, they were breaking the law or involved with illegal animals. Or they were paying someone to be involved with them, as that seems to be the way they do things.

Do you have any actual facts?
