In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Mites in the Lawn

I have been keeping my burmese indoors and I know she really likes the grass. When I got her she was loaded with mites and I thought they might have been because the previous owner who loved letting her roam the lawn. Maybe he was transmitting them from other reptiles though.

Hey Utta! You are from QH? I gratudated from AVHS but I have been in Atlanta for over 15 years. What a small world. There is not a lot of grass in QH if I remember right. Have you had opportunities to test your therory about snake mites yet?

not from QH, recently moved out here. i personally dont put my snakes on the ground, but people who i know and trust, have pictures of their snakes on the grass.

Yo Clay, you cannot get mites on your snakes by letting them roam on the lawn, unless you live across sees in the places that there local to. All mites are brought over on imported species only. So the only way for reptiles to contract them is if they were in contact with others that have scale mites, or if you were to handle someones snake that has them, or wander into a petstore, they could possibly hitch a ride with you back to your place and find your snakes.

Thanks Joshua. That was the answer I was looking for. I let my Burmese roam the yard last week and she was VERY pleased. lol.

I let my snakes roam on my lawn. Never had an issue. I do look them over for any signs of bugs or ticks but its no different imo than letting yoir dog out.
