In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry MJC Serpents...

As you can see in the beginning of this whole thread, the people who bought from me dont have a problem. Except two who were explained earlier in the thread. I also talked with the guy who "overfed his snake" and invited him here but he hasn't gotten here yet. Sorry but real life experiences with people buying my snakes was enough for me and also not having any more snakes of mine die was plenty to tell me that i had nothing going on.
And I'll prove it all to you as soon as the test results come in.
Good day, all.

Mindy, I'd like to see the email that confirms you contacted the vet office today.

Here hope this is enough for you

You guys are just bullying, I'm actually sick of reading it. The snake that died was literally her first snake, and she had it a very short time. She wasn't keeping many animals at the time, and that animal hasn't ever been in contact with an animal from her shop. I'm not sure what you're all trying to get out of her, her first snake ever died. This can happen with new pet owners. It was a year ago, what, you want her to go dig up the dead snake in her back yard and take it to the vet? Yes she was inexperienced as to why to do when that happened, but like I said we were all newbies once. Yes there is a small probability she infected her collection that she's amassed over the past year, but it's most unlikely because she would probably have had another death by now. She says she's taking the only animal that came in direct contact to the vet. Now be nice children, she may be 18 but you all act like your 5.

As to the term "unorthodox breeders", it's refers to the people that change their water once a month, let disease go by unchecked, sell animals with mites, or let their humidity drop to dangerous levels, or never clean their animal cages, etc. Pretty much people that are only breeding for a profit, and treat the whole hobby as a process.v

Hopefully no one will put you in charge of any ebola related activities.
Seriously, IBD needs to be dealt with the moment one even thinks it might be in their collection, it's just that serious.

Funny cuz i thought someone who owned two other boas knew what they were doing. He has an albino and a something else. Sorry for assuming, again.

You people have reached a whole new level of low. Pathetic. I am not replying to anything regarding this until I have the blood test results. Which I will ask to have physical proof of so you guys can shut your mouths.

Mindy, you should never have said that Layla had IBD because she did not. I bought Layla for her from Amazing Animalz. Layla was extremely skinny and the reason we bought her is because we hoped we could help her. I think it was two days later that Dexter was bought from a breeder in town. Those two snakes were bought as pets for my children and piqued Mindy's interest in the hobby. When Layla was dying, she exhibited neurological malfunctions. Her body was shutting down from being too far gone. We just couldn't save her and it was devastating. Almost every animal on our farm is a rescued animal. Some, we poured our hearts, souls and wallets into, but the damage was too much to overcome and we've had to do the humane thing for them. Mindy decided she wanted to turn her attention to snakes and, in her research, came across IBD and concluded that's what happened to Layla. She shouldn't have made that assumption. That snake wasn't properly cared for before we got her. She was dying. Can I defend my daughter's bloated ego? No. Am I disappointed that she's being harassed? Yes. I am a paralegal and this is really going over the edge. Mindy has a lot to learn and needs to accept that she doesn't know it all. Lesson number one needs to be that not everything needs to be shared on social media. Please stop harassing the girl. She's made mistakes. She knows she has. A lot of things being brought up are extremely irrelevant to the point of this thread. The owner of This Side of Paradise Pets doesn't get involved in social media, which is why it's only been Mindy defending herself with regard to the pet store. I can tell you that he and his family have the utmost respect for her and her passion. The malfunction in the unit that the store purchased to house the snakes had nothing to do with Mindy. She wasn't even there. However, when she learned of it, we rushed down to remedy the situation and took the snake home to get him well under quarantine from Mindy's personal collection. He made an immediate recovery. May I ask why Mindy's every move is everyone's business? Why does she need to supply proof that she called the vet? I'm not understanding why you're all going after her like this. Trust me, there are people who shouldn't be allowed to even pet an animal and we don't fall into that category. Mindy needs to chill on the ego. Okay. I can't tell you how many times she's been lectured about that. I'm not involved much with the snakes, but I believe two of several she's sold perished once they got into the hands of their new owners. One of those owners commented on this thread and admitted to having a thermostat malfunction. How is she supposed to be held liable for that? She has refused to sell snakes to people who aren't knowledgeable enough to care for them properly. So what, really, is the issue here? I'm getting confused with all the other things that keeps getting thrown in here and there.

And just as Mindy can't definitively say that it was IBD just from reading it on the internet, you sure as heck can't say that it wasn't IBD. Neither of you are DVM's, none of the animals saw a vet from the sound of it, and no bloodwork has been done, so none of you have a clue as to what was wrong with this animal and Mindy saw fit to sell a bunch of boas that were born from an animal that she never owned (now that's ethical ) which are very long term carriers of a disease she believed passed through her collection. Does that about sum it up?

CrystalLynn, as a parent myself, I think you had some very good constructive criticism in that post for your daughter and your overall position is understandable.

Also, two babies dying out of the blue that were outwardly healthy is not good at all Mindy. Those are very bad "odds". I've never had a baby boa that I sent out die in that amount of time, and that is out of many, many more boas than you will likely ever produce. You are completely irresponsible and need to sit back for a while and just keep some animals before diving head first into trying to sell them. This entire case is a matter of someone having no clue what they've gotten themselves into and being too arrogant to admit it, so they're going to threaten the collections of everyone they come into contact with.

I am honestly not trying to insult you. I want you to understand that this hobby is much more complex than you seem to believe. You're very young and have plenty of time to figure it out. You need to shut your entire collection down for a couple years now and concentrate on keeping the animals in your possession healthy. It's a bad thing, but this could be a learning experience for you. Or you could continue down this road and potentially destroy the years of the investment of time, love, and money that people have made. It's in your hands, but I know that people will not forget and this situation will come up again and again. It's extremely serious and people don't play around when it comes to any potential IBD concerns.

Andy from This Side of Paradise Pets just sent me a very nice email, saying he is willing to discuss the matter with anyone who would like to speak to him (use the store number). His tenor was completely different than Mindy's.

As soon as she understood IBD, had she stopped selling and made an appointment with the vet, I think everyone would have been OK.
She dropped the ball by not doing that, and I think many people here may have concerns that if she does not learn address health issues properly she may now or in the future imperil the collections of others.

I just read Andy and his wife every word. He told me to write this to every one of you

"I am the owner of This Side of Paradise Pets and am fully aware of the negative comments and concerns that the public has regarding MJC Serpents. I am offering for anyone that has concerns regarding Mindy or her snakes to please call me personally so we can discuss any concerns on a professional level. The store number is 860-457-6049
Sincerely,
Andy Mavros
Owner, This Side of Paradise Pets.

Andy has no need to defend himself on social media like I do that is why his "tenor" is different.

Mindy, you still don't get it.
The first thing Andy did on contact was offer to listen to those who wanted to call, and address concerns.
Had you done that, listened to folks when they talked about IBD, consulted a vet, listened when people said that you should stop selling until you really knew what was going on, there would be, in my opinion, totally different sorts or replies here.

Hopefully no one will put you in charge of any ebola related activities.

It's like the people of this community just say things to get people worked up. This comment was ignorant, and I can guarantee you will never see red cents from me. This whole boi is like reptile trial, and I'm not on trial here. My 14 year old ball python male has been doing great since I got him as a hatchling, as is the collections I've amassed since. Don't be a jerk you do not know me.
