Ferlavirus is a separate strain of Paramyxovirus. They require two different PCR evaluations.



I would also advise contacting UF about testing for BPNV as well, if a PCR is available.

Okay, i got the okay from andy to post the results so long as I pay for them myself. He was going to pay for them. So now I have to cancel a bunch of purchases and save up for that.

Sounds to me as if you are simply lying to buy time. If he was going to pay he would have done so by now. If you were ethical you would have tested by now. You whined earlier, much earlier in the thread about cost, it is my opinion that you have no intention of actuality doing these tests.

I think you are lying about the whole 'posting the results' issue too. The ONLY scenario where there might be hesitancy on posting is if there are positive results.

I think you have discovered that the internet is not as easily managed as you thought, and that the horse folk and others are going to get wind of your behavior here and think as little of it as we have.

Sorry, I'm not going to bite your fat juicy 'I'll save up and test but meanwhile everyone has to be quiet' worm. It's shopworn, you used it earlier in the thread.

Apparently Mindys mom is going to go after us for slander. It's not slander first of all and no one said anything that wasn't true or didn't come from Mindys mouth. Now that her mom might be effected by this she changes her tune! It's really sad that it's such a big deal to do the right thing! Mindy this isn't personal! If someone else was in your shoes we would expect them to do the right thing the same way we expect you to. I expect that their sales were plummeting, I think Mindy never expected the BOI would have such far reaching consequences and that people would read and choose based on what she said here in her own words. But really, who would buy a snake from them after all the empty unfulfilled promises made of testing, that was never done?

Mindys mothers comment says it all to me.. It seems like all they care about is money. "Fantastic timing, just when everyone will be buying christmas presents". Closing my collection wouldn't bother me at all. Honestly I don't breed to make money and if I had an excuse to keep all of my babies I wouldn't be complaining about not making a sale right away! If I could keep every single baby I produce I would! It's not about making money to me, it's about trying to do the little bit I can to stop the need for importing sick wild caught animals as well as making sure future hobbyists can enjoy the species I love.

while I think closing their collection is great! I don't want the fact that it took over 560 posts here and months of everyone pushing them to get swept under the rug! I think they are hoping this will all quiet down and people will see they are being responsible now and forget that it should have been done months ago. And that she lied quite a few times and made tons of false promises like you pointed out Lucille! I can't speak for anyone else but personally I'm not posting here and following this to make sure mindy and Andy lose sales, it makes me sad that they keep pointing fingers at everyone here and saying me are out to get them. All I want to see is the right thing done for the animals and the future of the hobby.

If she is worried about the cost of a few Christmas gifts, she doesn't have the money for any actions. It's all talk and she has no case, in my opinion. Particularly when it was her own daughter's words and actions/inactions that created much of this mess (again, my opinion).

I know mindy is young and still has a lot to learn. One of the best pieces of advise I was ever given was to make sure at all times I have enough in a savings account to take my animals to the vet. I have a savings that never gets touched except to take someone to the vet. And every time I buy a new animal I won't do so until I have an extra $100 to add to the savings for that animal. Had mindy been responsible and had some money saved for emergencies she could have the tests done right away. And her excuses about being a kid and only making $300 a week is complete bs. I'm disabled and can't work and am supporting my daughter and animals by myself. My disability check is not much more then mindy makes a week but the difference is I made sure I had enough money to properly care for each animal I have before I bought it (except the rescues but that's not my point). My point is her excuses are pathetic. If she were responsible there would be no need to keep making up excuses! Mindy has gotten in way over her head and doesn't know how to dig herself out. I truly hope she learns from all of this and from this point forward is mature and responsible. Mindy think about it this way.. if you knew I said one of my animals died from a contagious fatal disease and I did nothing to protect my customers and kept selling sick animals wouldn't you plaster my name all over to make sure no one buys from me? Or even worse what if I sold you one of my sick animals and it spread and killed every snake in your collection? Wouldn't you be upset and want to prevent me from ever selling another animal? I'm not saying you killed anyones animals but I think you got lucky this time. Sometimes it's really important to step out of the situation and look at it from other points of view.

Mindy, i posted in this thread and just messaged you on Facebook an AAZV document indicating IBD can lay dormant for up to 4-5 years. 18 months is certainly well within that dormancy period.

TBH i couldnt even read through all of this. All i can think of is HOLY CRAP. I think of myself being put through the same position and not only would i want to clear my name, but i would be in so much distress over my hard earned collection. You pour your heart and soul into this hobby, and the fact that this girl only cares to "Shut People UP" is painful in the least. Stop fighting with people, get the tests done, and close your mouth! I mean really...how hard is it to stop fighting and just worry about your animals!

This post exists for only one reason YOU said your animal died of a highly contagious fatal disease hen continued selling the snakes that one came in contact with and never had tests done to prove the others aren't sick.
