    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Do any herpers out there in DC/Maryland/Virginia know what this business with "MnJ" Reptile Rescue is all about? This person/people is overloading the local craigslists for months and months with ads claiming that they are a non-profit reptile rescue (even though they cannot spell the words in their posts correctly) and are frequently asking for donations of supplies, tanks, and cages.

A handful of times would not usually raise any red flags, but these posts are appearing literally 20 times a day.

Nobody seems to have ever heard of an "MnJ". Anyone know anything? Is it illegal to pose as a non-profit organization? There is no MnJ in the VA state 503(c) list.

I've never heard of them, I'd email Holly at the MD Reptile Rescue or Dennis at the Norther Va Reptile Rescue to see if he knows them.

Nope, Adam, she's never heard of them. My thought is that it just needs to be reported to the state as someone possibly posing as a fake 503(c).

Its strange too, since some of the posts directly address their 'services' to law enforcement agencies.

Likely Scam

Posing as a 'reptile rescue' is a common scam in this hobby. Look-up Matt Martin on the BOI, he used to do it all the time.

Second, they only want snakes and tortoises... Those would be animals that likely have significant resale value.

Email them and tell them that you have 25 huge Red-eared sliders that need a new home. And also offer some sickly green iggies. I bet that you dont hear back from them.

better yet!

"I have an 18 foot green anaconda. Roughly 250 pounds, eating piglets every few months. Just got the stitches out from the last cage cleaning, the cast comes off in another few weeks and the doctor said I should regain most of the sight in my right eye. I do feel well enough to move this animal now and need to get it to your rescue asap. Please provide me with driving directions so we can drop it off."

No Cyberfrog...you got it alllllll wrong

You're supposed to tell them everything you said except asking for directions.....Tell them you got directions from someone else that has done business with them and that you are on your way to their place and should be there in the next few hours with the snake, while including your cell phone # in case they need to reach you while you're en route.....

What a shock! They have nothing at all available for adoption! But they do take donations! You know, some money to care for snakes that do not exist.

I think that this may be a lil kid.

THESE PEOPLE ARE FAKE!!!!

I had a few hets to get rid of for a very minimal fee, so low I went ahead and posted on Craigslist when two minutes later I receive a response from them. I will post a few responses from them below and you'll see how fake and unprofessional sounding they are. Funny they didn't have anything when his response claims to have over 100 snakes!!!! Stars have been added to somewhat censor the response and yes his spelling really is that bad!!

"LOL....im not a buyer Im a rescuer....im not interested in it for a pet but to give it a good home...we have over 100 snakes...non of whcih we paid for...I cant tell you interested ion the money not giving it a good home...good luck."

"mnjsnakerescue.org
stupid...Im sure you will just sell you snake to some kid who will give it poor husbandry and we wil eentully get it anyways...we alwasy do...thats why we have so many...your fake and most of all your a je* bastard becuase youe tyring to rip people of for a snake thats worth $15 ans selling it for $100...watch...eventlyl after you sell it to whoever has the money...we will get it...we always do..bi***!"

Wee Punk

I was right, this has to be a 'lil kid-and a wannabe gangster, at that! Does anyone know if he has been made aware of the existence of this thread? I am sure that a semi-literate imbecile such as that could provide tons of entertainment trying to rebut us.

How did you find that stuff??? I did tell him, he didn't believe me and now he says he's looking at it. They claim to be a very respected rescue. WELL NOT MUCH RESPECT HERE!!!!

He also says:

"i read it, and its full of BS...we only adopt out to people with good uubsbadry and we only adopt out after they are ready tp be adopted, meaning healtthy."

WELL IF HE HAS OVER 100 SNAKES AND NONE ARE AVAILABLE THEN I AM ASSUMING THEY'RE NOT HEALTHY THEN THE SO CALLED "RESCUE" IS NOT DOING IT'S JOB!!

I tried to post a beware on Craigslist on them, but I got flagged very quickly. They are constantly posting on Craigslist, pretty much everyday, think I may have seen them on there maybe twice in one day.

I saw your post on Craigslist, you put it all out there!!! I am thinking they or he changes emails, he emailed me from [email protected] registered under Nicholas Ignacio. I swear I have receveid an e-mail from them before and it wasn't the same address.

email

Did anyone else notice his email address that is listed on whois? escortswanted? Why am I not surprised that he has to pay for it?

G. Beniquez

ps-I wonder if he is looking for men or women...
