In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

"MnJ" Snake, Tortoise, Reptile Rescue - VA ???

Mike, if you want to lean how to keep snakes why not try the appropriate forums on this and many other sites. This isn't a husbandry forum... Randy

The High End Market, is a bit trickier you have to keep records on every snake, feed shed. You must also be able to guarantee genetics. If you sell a 100% het for albino boa and the customer breeds it to an albino boa and 75% of the clutch comes out Normal, your nuts are in a vice my friend.
not really becuae to get any albinos it would have to be het. So getting 25% of the clutch albino means the het snake is 100% het. YOu just got some bad odds is all. Now if you sell a het albino. and the person breeds it to an albino and you get no albinos. There is the issue

one thing that i'm starting to see here is that Mike is at least trying to learn and is taking his time here to answer all the qestions, even though i doubt that he will keep half of his word
but the serious problem here is that, Nick, he is going around bashing everybody, and is making videos about us and telling his army of 12 year olds to go and hate us, not only that, he treats himself like a reptile god or other pile of crap like he claims to be, and is disrespecting everybody that has a simple opinion about him, or trying to help him
what's worse is that, this guy is spreading the word of "how not to take care of reptiles" but is telling people to do it anyways, that is what this is basically saying, let's just wrap up with Mike with his questionings, and let's see exactly whatelse we can do, if there is anything we can do

Can you please explain this? You can get normals in a litter of a het to visual albino boa breeding, as well as in a clutch of colubrids or pythons....

It was used as an example, based purely on the amount of het for (insert genetic abnormality here) animals sold on the market.

Case in point:http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102120

The fact that these two have misrepresented themselves, lends one to think they might push that envelope too.

Yes, genetics a tricky mistress she is. I have seen two Petco bought BCIs produce a clutch of some of the best looking Salmon's I have ever seen. But it was just an example and a poor one to your standards evidently. Yet when breeding a Normal genes to Visual Albino you still have the chance of producing Albino offspring.

Heartbeat

Joe, I own a pet store, and I really do care for the animal in every way besides having a heart beat. It's really not fair to lump pet stores together in one insulting statement. I bet you meant no offense, but it does sting a bit, especially on this forum.

As far as the rest of this long winded farce goes, might I suggest that Mike and/or obnoxious Nick purchase a few good books so they can stop with all these low brow questions? Enough is enough already. Let's move on to helping people who actually want our help. I guarantee you that right after Mike posts here he's on the phone with Nick laughing about how he's moving everyone into the direction they want to go, making believe he so wants to change his ways. Please, pack up these clowns, the circus has left town. There, I said it.
Ken

I apologize about that, I am getting very use to walking into pet stores and seeing 12 boas in 10gallon, and Ball Pythons with 3 layers of eye caps and bright red, inflamed heat pits. You see this is normalcy where I live.

I meant no offense, I assure you.

Joe, I know you meant no offense. It just gets old, but I do understand where you're coming from. Some places have no business keeping or selling herps at all, period. And, just to stay on topic, these two adult men who act like 9 year olds have no business having herps either, much less breeding them and attempting to sell them. I have real doubts if they would even know how to produce a cornsnake, much less anything even remotely more challenging. I find just about everything I have read that these people have typed, and what I've been able to stomach of the videos all just a ton of bull :censored:
Ken
PS, I like you Joe

I like you too, Ken! See at least in Vegas you have like a true herp community, with shows and actual herp related stores. We get 1 show here, in the middle of winter. But we have 1 Reptile shop that is like 70 miles away from me, and I won't ever go back to it. It was that bad.

I'm moving to Vegas, Lol.

Remember, Mike's partner Nick is Bail Enforcement Agent. He will arrest you, as he threatened to do to everyone who attended the last Hamburg Show.

of course he'll arrest you after you've gushed all over him asking him for his autograph...cause he's like a reptile god or something or so he says.

Tame and stressed out are way to different things.. A totally stressed out Sav will act the way the one looks in Nicks vids. If you need any info the monitor forums here or other information sites like RZ could point you in the right direction... There you will learn Nicks care is horrible ...

it was mentioned that Nick is in league with an individual who calls herself Danceswithsavs.... that old lady teaches people how to "tame" their savs. Her method....basically bringing the animals to a full panic and half drowning them in a bathtub with the trick being that the animal has to be unable to see that it is you who is drowning them.. so that right before they die, you show yourself to it and "rescue" the animal and from then on out it should express its full adoration of you for saving it and be forever "tame".

I know about her method to its sickening. She had some die on her to doing her "method" it sad... Just give then enough space good husbandry and the will respect you and live a great life. Better then being drowned and force to be handle all the time. I would rather dig in the dirt...

No. Just... no.

On a thread where the most signifigant issue is the ignorant trying to educate the naive, it'd probably help if anyone- anyone- choosing to say something actually knows what they're talking about.

hold on there Seamus...let's rememebr the root problem here, these guys are douchebags and need to be punished

Actually Robert...the "root" problem has much to do with the blatant misinformation these guys have been spouting off. When someone else joins in with yet more inaccurate information (you simply cannot breed an animal with all "normal" genes and get albino offspring, no matter what you breed it to), it needs to be addressed as well.

In other words, fighting stupidity with ignorance accomplishes nothing. :shrug01:

Perhaps I need to go to genetics school. However business and ethics I more than have handled that is what this about.

If anyone of you would like to take give me an education I am more than willing to listen.
You see, I keep my animals healthy and am able to nurse back to health those that have come to me on the verge of death.

As far a breeding for certain genetic traits, it is not something I have been terribly concerned with. Why, you may ask? Because there are people who have ass loads of money invested in breeding these animals. Because there are people who pay their bills
breeding these animals. I am a guy, who has over extended himself taking in other peoples problems.

Knowledge of reptiles, yeah I got that, proper husbandry got that too. But I am not a breeder, I tried to breed some corns this year had 1 clutch that was infertile, and my thermostat failed full on my incubator and cooked my eggs on the second clutch.
My first attempt at breeding was an utter failure.

Well, yes, there IS a chance. Probably just as much chance as my walking outside one morning and finding that oil is bubbling out of the ground making me a gazillionaire. The financial rewards of these two examples of pure luck are quite different, but I would say the odds are about the same.

Yes, possible, but damned unlikely......

Fewer shots fired at the range, more spent shootin' at some food.

Albinos came originally from the wild so yes, in theory you can win the lottery of a phenotypically looking CH normal carrying the gene for albinism (thus making it a 100% heterozygous). Your chances are probably 1 in 1,000,000,000 (you can pick-up the number of zeros! :) ). ..."So your telling me there is a chance"... (Floyd in "Dumb and Dumber"). When he introduced the statement "Normal genes" that possibility became "0"; at least by our current state of genetic knowledge.

With regards to the Salmon the chances are "0" of the bat. It's a co-dominant trait so at least one of the parents should have been a Salmon.

Anywas, back to topic...:)
