    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

These things are very cool.

Are they in the hobby? Are they legal to own?

Just wondering, I have been seeing pictures of them on the internet and they are very cool looking. :)

Thanks

As far as I know, Thorny Devils are not in the trade. At least not legally. They have a very specific diet of various ants found in Australia which makes them difficult to keep not to mention the whole import/export laws that Australia has that makes them impossible to own. I also think they are endangered if I'm not mistaken which would also make them impossible to own (I think even in Australia too)

i'm pretty sure it's illegal, they're a protected, if not endangered (from what i recall) species even in Australia. would be cool as s**t to have one though, they're awesome looking.

yes very cool looking indeed.

I knew that since they were from Australia, their presence in the hobby would be very scarce if even existent, considering Australia's import/export regulations.

ok that's cool, I was just wondering.

I've read that they are endangered due to habitat destruction by so many feral cats in the deserts of australia. They are so awesome though, I've seen quite a few shows on them on NatGeo

They are such.. odd creatures. I really like them.

I don't think I'd ever want to own one, if ever given the chance. After thinking about it, this is just one of those types of animals that I would like to take some really good photos of in the wild, and nothing more.

Yeah, I had one of those desert horned lizards before and they eat mainly harvester ants, so I'm sure the care would be similar to these. The harvester ants were so scary though! They would come in a container with like a million of them and they had so many warnings on the side because of how bad their bites hurt and I was so afraid they would get out and swarm me or something. I always hated getting them out of the container. I ended up giving it away to a reptile expert lol
