In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi everybody,

If I were to breed a Jungle Het. Albino to a Motley Het. Albino would I get all motleys or would there be some non-Motley offspring as well?

I was also wondering if Kahl albino and Lipstick albino are compatible.

Thanks!

Allison

You motley is actually the heterozygous form of the morph. That means that when you breed it, half of the offspring will be hets as well, or motleys. So half your litter will be motleys.

The lipstick line is a lineage of Kahl strain albinos, so yes, they're compatible.

Chris

Jungle and Motley are co-dominant traits, correct?

Specifically, you can expect the following ratios in a litter:

Jungle Het Albino X Motley Het Albino

1/16 - Wildtype
2/16 - Het. Albino
1/16 - Motley
2/16 - Motley Het. Albino
1/16 - Albino Motley
1/16 - Albino
1/16 - Jungle
2/16 - Jungle Het. Albino
1/16 - Jungle Motley
2/16 - Jungle Motley Het. Albino
1/16 - Jungle Albino
1/16 - Jungle Motley Albino

Hope I did that right...

That sounds like a nice pairing. You have a small chance at getting albino jotleys but theres a chance. I would shoot for the long run and go with a nice sunglow jungle so that you have the hypo gene for you to make Sunglow motleys, Sunglow Jotleys, albino jotleys, jotleys, hypos, hypo motleys, hypo jungles, jungles, and some others that im probably forgetting. Anyhow, i would stick with a homozygous animal for the female because then all the animals will first of all....have a higher chance of inheriting albinism, second off, your odds would be much high at producing sunglow jotleys and sunglow motleys, and you wouldnt have to label any of the het animals as 66% het but as 100%. It will probably will take more time and money to do so but i think its well worth it to me. Also, do you have a motley lipstick het albino? Who did you get it from?

I just bought an amazing Jungle het lipstick female! Super clean colors and awesome abberant patterns. My motley male is just het albino. I'm making sunglow mots (hopefully) in another pairing. I'd rather make my own hypo jungles and then make sunglow jungle mots from there.

Thanks!

I totally understand what you mean. It's hard to see the true colors of the jungle when the hypo trait is thrown in there so sometimes it's hard to tell what your getting with hypo jungles. I would love to see pics of the jungle het lipstick if you don't mind. :)

And when making Sunglow motley, you are aware that the hypo gene and motley gene can't be in the same animal. If you do albino to hypo motley het albino for instance you won't get Sunglow motleys. You have to have the hypo and motley in opposite animals. Like Sunglow x motley het albino. Just a heads up because the motley gene can throw people off.

Take care

Ulysses

Yeah I've heard that before. For the sunglow motleys I'm pairing up my hypo het albino female with the motley het albino male. I'll take pictures of the jungle when I get her which is the week after next. She is awesome!

Is this because hypo and motley are on the same loci, and if they are in the same animal only one of the two genes pass on?

Similar to thesituation of parahet boas, which are het for either Sharp albino or BWC.
Or are we talking about something different here?

I am buying her from Matthew Jackson. He doesn't have another female that he is selling unfortunately. She is a really beautiful snake.

Its something along those lines. I dont know all the exact genetic terms but i know that when a hypo motley is bred to another animal, lets say a normal, it will produce hypos and motleys, and no normals apparently but there will be none in the litter that will have both of the genes for whatever reason. Apparently the motley genes throws things out of wach. I think this is the reason that you see hypo motleys the way that they are. It seems that the hypo and motley gene kind merge and throw off the pattern mutation of the motley gene. I hope that makes sense. Im no boa scientist by any means but i understand what can be done and what cant be done for the most part.

Ashley,

Unfortunately he doesn't have another one. However i would like to check out how she looks. Thanks! :)
