In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

In the next couple weeks my family and I are going to have to move to Florida from Michigan. My husband and I are both worried about the move with my snakes (whether or not they'll be able to handle it). Unfortunately with 3 kids and 2 dogs I will not have any extra room for them in my van and they'd have to go in the U-Haul. Would they be able to survive the trip? Or would it be best to re-home them before the move? If they can make the trip...what is the best way to move with snakes? One is a 4'+ BCI cross, the other an albino Nelsons Milksnake. Any tips would be appreciated!

Personally if there pets i wouldnt put them in the uhaul. I would try to make some sort of room in the vehicle you are traveling in. It will probably get to hot in the uhaul & they may over heat. Even putting them in pillow cases & leaving thm on the floor of the van while driving i think is better thn in the uhaul. Good luck & have a safe trip:thumbsup:

I agree with Christopher. Pets are worth the effort.

The fallback plan would be to ship them to Florida using overnight mail (use an approved carrier like SYR or RE)...but you need to have someone meet the delivery person and temporary housing already set up.

GOod luck -- let us know how it goes!

I agree with Cliff. Dropping the snakes off at Fed Ex or UPS or some such on your way out of town sounds like a good backup plan, if room cannot be found in the vehicle. But putting them in the back... If something falls (hey, accidents happen), or if the temperature gets too hot or too cold, it could be disastrous.

My wife and I are planning to move several states away this summer also. Make sure you look into local laws as well as state laws, if you haven't already. We were initially planning on moving just within the borders of a county that, we later discovered, has a complete ban on boa constrictors. I called local animal control officers and zoos and we found that the state doesn't really have any regulations for boas, because they're not venomous or one of the giant constrictors. Crazy stuff, really. Far more complicated than I anticipated.

I usually put snakes into snake bags and then into Rubbermaids. You could have the boa in a pillowcase/snake bag and then into a Rubbermaid tub, put the milksnake in a shoebox size locking tub. Put those in the van, that should keep them secure and safe from harm from lil kid's feet or dog. I would *not* put them in the uhaul.
Good luck!
