    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Man, I've been out of the music scene for so long that it is pitiful. But back last November when I had some nerve problems in my right arm and shoulder, I figured I was going to have to become a couch potato for a while to recuperate from surgery (which fortunately is a bullet I dodged) so I started thinking about what I could do to make things bearable while I was incapacitated. So I started thinking about updating my ancient stereo system.

So I did. And I'm STILL not finished yet! Technology has changed quite a bit, but some of the stuff I knew about speakers has remaining pretty much the same. There are just MORE of them in a typical system these days.

Anyway, I've about gotten tired of listening to the CDs I have as they are every bit as ancient as my old Panasonic stereo receiver that I moved off to Goodwill. But I don't have a clue about any of the newer artists performing on CDs. They are all just names to me. Heck I haven't even listened to the radio for ages either!

So here's what I am asking (finally!). Are there any websites out there that I could use to actually listen to short cuts from CDs to hear what the performer(s) sound like before making a purchase? Just enough to get an idea of the style of music? I'm not interested in ripping music as I just don't have the time for that kind of stuff. I just want to get an idea of some decent musicians, then buy some of their CDs to have some new tunes to listen to.

Anyone able to help me out here?

Thanks for the tips, guys. I think I have become my father. When listening to some of the groups playing those selections, I am sure I am making the same faces he made while listening to the music I liked. :eek2:

This is going to be tougher then I thought!

Actually Yahoo "launch" or whatever it is called lets you preview tracks and some full tracks from albums as well....

Msn explorer has a music section that allows you to listen to like 20 sec of every song on a lot of CD's. It has saved me a ton making music purchases.

How about some links to these specific sites, please? I poked around on Yahoo for a while, but every page I went to they had their hand out for money or something else.

Thanks for the help.
