    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Emails

Please be warned that sending emails is an awesome way to get your point across but it can also be easily ignored. Send in your Snail Mail letters as well as your phone calls to your Congressmen. SnakeBytes is an awesome site with awesome info. I have been in contact with them to some degree trying to find out more. I personally have stepped it up a notch before the site went up http://www.nohr669.com Hit every media possible, Your local news stations, radio stations, friends, companies, who ever. I believe if we hit all media areas we will spread the word even more. The USA-ARK President has also mentioned that Snail Mail/Phone Calls on top of your Emails will be best. Although I do not feel this bill proposed bill will pass, it has come the closest than ever before. There is an attitude that pisses me off, and I will discuss this until this issue has found a reasonable compromise, which is "The bill is to extreme and it won't pass so therefore why should waste my time when I know the outcome already." There are a lot of countries who have adapted these laws within their own country. Are you will to take the chance of greedy politicians that are willing to pass an extreme law based on the size of the amount that is on a check or in cash. I think not. I rather speak up now and not let someone pass someone over my eyes. This is based on hearsay, because I didn't see it in writing, but a buddy of mine up in the midwest, said that his rep was going to vote on this bill because he agreed with it. When asked what the bill entailed he had no idea what the bill had entailed. Wow what a statement. Well anyway I just wanted to point this issue out and I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes. This is our country. We sleep, eat, raise our children, pay taxes and most of all live and die here as citizens of a Democratic Society we help decide what should be done not blindly ignored by our own officials, but this is just my two sense. :D

They had hoped to have 1000 e-mails in 24 hours, I just checked, and there are over 3300 e-mails sent.

If each person that reads this, goes to the "What else can I do?" link on the nohr669 site and scolls down to print the adobe flyer in the Pet Store section - prints 10 copies and goes to ONE local pet store and talks to the manager, you can reach a LOT of people!

Don't become complacent. We want such a force that if HR669 doesn't pass, the representatives will be less likely to want to co-sponsor a similar bill next year. We want them to remember just how vocal we can be!
 
Snail mail is great. I think everyone shoudl send it. But remember it has to go through a security check and that can take weeks. BUT is still think everyone should send it.

DO IT ALL! Who cares who thinks what is better. DO IT ALL. Becuase if we do not fight it now with everything we got................there is nothing left.
 
I talked to the committee chairs rep yesterday and he actually tried to convince me that I was wrong. That being the case he told me that they were getting an overwhelming negative response. As I understand it this committee is split on party lines. The Democrats are for the bill and the Republicans are against it.

To ensure that you letters get to the appropriate person I would send them through USARK. Here's their instructions.

This is what we need to do:

1. Write a letter to each member of the subcommittee. Click this link http://www.usark.org/uploads/hr669sample.pdf for the sample letter from our archive and names and phone numbers for committee members.
2. Label each envelope w/ the committee members name and your name and return address.
3. Put all these letters in a large manila envelope and send to: Tom Wolfe, 6246 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22205
4. Call each member of the subcommittee- you will be speaking with staff. Let them know you Oppose HR669. Be civil, but tell them how this will effect you and your family.
5. Check where members are from. If any of the members are your district representatives, or are from your state, make sure they know you are their constituent.

Tom Wolfe is USARK's lobbyist so he'll make your letters are received and not lost.

I to am sending letters to the editors of several of our state newspapers and am forwarding information to the tv media. I don't think we can get enough publicity. If this bill isn't killed in committee we're going to have a lot of work to do.

Did that today! Printed out several copies and went to my local exotic pet store. The owner was well informed on the bill and had already contacted his representative as well as other pet store owners, but was not talking to his customers about it. He gratefully took my fliers and hand them down to his customers and I helped get the word across. I'm hitting a bird store on Monday :)
 
I was amazed to find that our local exotic pet store owner felt that he was exempt from this law as he is licensed through USDA. I informed me that he would be allowed to breed all he wants. I asked him who he'd be able to sell to. I got the blank stare. We need to educate people quickly!
 
Some just do not get what this could do.

That's way to funny and it is actually really sad, as no one is invincible from this law unless you are the Congressmen or the President.

Thats good news! cause the guy at the bird store had no clue about the ban, he definitely knows now.
 
I even stopped in at a Petco. I asked the manager if he had heard about this bill and inquired as to if he thought they could stay open just selling stuff for dogs and cats (for now, they will get to them too). He didn't think so. So he took the bill number and was going to get in touch with corporate. We will see if that works or not. Plus I got into a great conversation with one of the employees that has a couple snakes. Filled him in, so at least he is there spreading the word.

Other than that I have gotten the 22 letters together and myself and my wife signed them. Plus a set for my son and a set for one of my neighbors. All going out tomorrow.
 
10,500 emails sent!!!!!!! We can't stop. We need to overwhelm them so they will not even think about another bill like this.
