    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Got it the other day... possibly has mites, getting some NIX just to be safe. He/She is a mean little bastard, already bitten like 4 times and we've had him for like 3 days :ack2: For now he is in the 50 gallon tank inside the GIANT cage we built planning to get a bigger one... I didn't want to lose him in there and it is cheaper keeping the small tank just right for him so until he gets bigger that is where it stays.

Thanks! I am hoping we can get its attitude under control pretty quick though! He/She likes to bite, once we get it out of the cage, it is a little better but still kind of grumpy. we handle it 3-4 times a day for about 20~ minutes each time so hopefuly that will help. The last thing i want is for this thing to have the same attitude when it gets BIG!
 
I can give you some advice on how to help settle down pythons that seem to have bad temperaments. No guarantees, but this methodology has worked for us over the years (even with a few WC specimens). They are scared, that's why they act that way, and they think you are a threat to them.

• The obvious is make sure she has a regular and healthy food supply (no doubt you are already doing this).
• Make sure she has a hide box.
• Make sure she has a water dish large enough to soak her self in.
• Make sure they can thermoregulate the temperature in her enclosure.

Now

Every couple of days, go into her enclosure and touch her with a snake hook, and then rub her with it or your hand (work up to being able to use your hand), but DO NOT take her out. You want her to learn that you are not a threat and that every time you come into the enclosure you are not going to drag her out.

After a few weeks of this, try taking her out for a few minutes once or twice a week, and then put her back. Make these very short sessions.

They will start to realize that you are not going to hurt them or scare them, etc and will start to relax, and eventually start to enjoy the sessions. Gradually extend the period of time you have them out to around 15 minutes. Don't have them out much longer then that.
 
every baby burm that i have had or dealt with have been nasty little things. they are known for that, but they are also known for taming down pretty easily and quickly with short intervals of regular handling
 
UPDATE: she has grown about 3ft in the last 4 months, and she is eating 3-4 adult mice per week. we built a massive 8'x4'x4' cage for her but she never really moved out of a little section so for now we have her back in the 55 gallon....
We had a mite issue about a month after getting her and talked to a couple "experts" at the university and they said to give her a bath in warm Coca-Cola. I thought it was really strange but I listened and INSTANTLY the mites died and fell off. gave her a warm bath efterwards to get all of the coke off and clean the crap out of her cage, bleached and cooked all her logs and such... not a single mite since!
