In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering if my ball python is too cold at 85 degrees F for the basking area. I already have a heat lamp and a heat pad, but it is still too cold to reach my target temperature of 95 degrees F. People have told me these are all the supplies I need to have. I am thinking of keeping him in the closet where it is warmer, but will this mess with it's light cycles? The house the snake is in has A/C, so it is room temperature at 72 degrees F all the time. I personally think it could be too cold for my BP because he never ventures far from the heat lamp. Do I really need to purchase more heating devices? Thank you for your help!

ok now lets think for a minute as in use the thing between ur ears how about u just get a higher wattage bulb omg i think im a genious.

Hey snake kid, your name really says alot for you! Stop being immature and use the little thing between YOUR ears! As for the heating, 85 is to cold for the basking. You can use a larger buld but that will not help you at night. What size cage is it in? And what type Under tank heater are you using(flexwatt or prefab)? Let me know thaese questions and I can help ya out. Thanks,
-Matt

First off Eric, you seem to be quite the bright one yourself.....
And from now on don't reply unless you gonna make sense and/or help.

Jeremy, 85 will not hurt your snake in any way, but it would be best if you could find a way to up the basking area 4-5 more degrees. I don't think a bigger bulb would be the solution at all. Please reply with a few more details and I'm sure Matt and I will be able to help you out.

Al-
I have a better quote than yours from Jason Campbell. I got a email from a moron who claims "I bought a 44% Het Spider from NERD". Beat that-

You say your more worried about the temp at night. Depending on how big the tank is depends on how big the heat mat is, if you know this already then try a heat pad that is thermostatic controled (Ultratherm heat strips) and others similer you can't go wrong.

Hope this helps
Dave

Jeremy, what are you using to check the temp with? A digital thermometor, or one of the stick on the glass types? If it's not a digital, then get one and check the middle of the basking spot, at the snakes level, so you will have a more accurate temp.

the heat in the terrarium is basking at just below 100 F right now, even during the night. If come winter time i need additional heating, i'll ask for some more help, but all the info so far supplied shall be plenty sufficient for any future purchases. He also seems to be wandering to all of the tank now, so he seems to be OK with the temp it seems to me. The reason the thmometer is so far up at the top of the glass is that the snkae like to climb on it as if it was a branch, and it fell off and got stuck to his body! I couldn't get it off w/o taking a fresh coat of skin off, so i really don't want to deal with that again, I just got some Detachol from a friend vet asst. and it all is working out great! thank you all, except for snakekid!:)

Thats a bit steep.

Try to get it around 90-92 on only 1 side.
