In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My cage is ready, now where do I get my chameleon from?

Since this will be my first time I have decided that a veiled would be the best idea, but I don't know where to get one from. Any good solid breeders you know of? I would really like a 6-9 month old one, so they are out of the real critical stage. Please feel free to give me any sort of direction here, the local pet shops have nothing but chams in aquariums and I've done enough research to know better than that. Thanks.

The first place I would look for a chameleon is a reptile show. Many of the people selling them actually bred them and can tell you a lot about the animals.

A pet store would be my second recommendation. Many pet stores buy from the shows. The problem with some pet stores, not all, is that they have no clue on how to properly care for anything but a hamster and even then some can't do that. I would look at how they are keeping their animals and if they have the veiled chams set up correctly, then I would buy. But if they have a veiled chameleon and a frog or a gecko in the same cage, I'd steer clear of these people. One pet store I went to had a 20 long with one of those viquarium set ups in it which has half water, half land and TWO ADULT MALE Jackson's chams in it! They had no climbing branches and no UV heat light. It was pathetic.

Check the classified ads here. There is a listing of shows here too. Also check the back of Reptiles Magazine for ads with people selling chameleons. There is also a listing of shows in that mag as well.

Good luck with your new chameleon.

when working with chamelons , even though they ship them alot its always better to pick them up. Reduces stress a lot. Check for heath, let them walk on your hand, they should have a tight grip with their feet. Check the vent, there should be no fecal matter sticking to that area. No sunk in eyes. IF you goto a pet shop, have the person working there feed it, make sure it eats. Good luck!
