In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all, I got a couple of questions. Ok i got a new BP on the 8th this month, her name is Cinnamon because she looks alot like one, anyways shes a little over 2 feet and kinda skinny compared to my male of about the same age. I tried to feed her today for the first time and she was kinda scared of the mouse but didnt run from it, but regardless didnt eat.Should i assume shes just not hungry or what? When i got my male i had no problem once-so-ever with anything so im not sure what to do or think. And when she does become unstressed and begins eating (or before) should i put my male and female in the same cage? My friend said it helps them but i dont wanna stress her more, so all advice is welcome. Thank Ya

BPs do best when housed separately your new girl may just need more time to settle in. What is the set-up for her? Hides? Temps etc?

That's what im thinking and hoping but shes in a 30 gallon tank with a bush thing and (yes its ghetto but, its only for the time being) a kleenex box for her main hide i havent got a thermometer for her yet but its the same setup basically as my male and he stays at about 85-90 so i assume shes around that range.

Boxes do fine as temp. hides. It would be good to know what the temps were for sure. A temp gun would be a good idea. Also add substrate to the hide if it's big so she can feel snug in it. The cage may be a bit large so you may have to add some cover.

Temp guns?

They have temp guns? Are they like a radar gun were you point and "shoot"? And where can you get them? Ya i forgot about them feeling insecure because of too much space, i'll add some stuff to it. Thanks for advice its very helpful.

Just FYI, here's what I think they are talking about. Great for a quick temp reading. We use thermometers inside the enclosure, however when checking spots out of the basking area, inside the hides, and other spots "away from" the placement of the enclosure thermometers, these are very handy to have around. Takes away the guess work and are pretty idiot proof (meaning if I can use one...ANYONE can).

While were on the subject of cage setups, between aspen bedding and repti-bark which do you like better? And if your favorite is different from that what is best in your exerience?

cyprus mulch
Natural looking, hold heat and humidy, and you can mist it a lot without worrying about it molding like aspen.
Tried Repti-Bark once. Didn't care for it. Too big of chunks and way too expensive for the little bit you get in a bag.

My wife uses pre-cut pieces of reptile carpet. She has 2-3 pieces that are cut to fit the entire enclosure, so once a week (whether they need it or not) she changes them out (I get to clean the dirty ones). For humidity she did something pretty cool. She got small air pumps and placed diffuser rocks in their water bowls, they emit a small amount of bubbles and release water into the air. Being in North Texas the humidity in the house stays pretty dry, but with her doing that, the enclosures stay at a constant 50-55% (the hoses have a "bleed valve" so that she can adjust the amount of air released through the diffuser stone to raise/lower humidity as needed). I'll have to take some pictures and post them of one of her "set-ups". She is pretty conciencious of her setups, from decorating to backgrounds, I have told family and friends if something happens to me...I want to come back as one of her rep's.

We are hobbyist's and that being said we like to see our "babies" when they are not being handled. She is of the belief that a more "natural" environment helps them relax and makes for a more positive experience for them being in captivity. I personally don't think they really care as long as they are fed regularly, and are cared for properly, I think she goes a bit overboard at times, but....I pick my battles :)

YAAAAAAAAAY

W00t w00t my my little girl finally ate! Hopefully shell get thicker too, is it normal for a female to be real skinny? Shes about as old as my male and shes about half as thick yet longer, so im thinkin shes a couple months older than him. She finally calmed down and whenever i pick her up she refuses to go back into her cage! She just acts like shes the white and im the rice. Its good to know finally that she wont be a problem child...feeding wise at least. Well have to see about the rest. Lol. Thanks for all advice, more is always welcomeas im always looking to learn more about da beautiful BP.
