    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My digital probe is USELESS!

I ordered this from ebay, and it cost me a fair bit.

But it's useless. The unit itself doesn't seem to work when I put that in the basking spot, and when I put the probe there the temp rises on the screen VERY SLOWLY. I thought these things would tell me the temps almost instantly? Not this one.. I have to wait a good 20 minutes for it to rise and show me the correct temp! I am trying to get the correct temp fo my Beardie but it's a bloody hassle with this thing!

Am I missing something or is it supposed to work like that? Anyone else got one?

Thinking of perhaps buying another, can anyone recommend one? I'm in the UK.

This one look good?

Makes sense that the probe itself needs to warm up. Once it is warm you shouldnt have a problem. Keeping it in place may be another problem. heh

If you want instant readings of a temperature`s surface, try a no-contact infra-red thermometer. It shoots a beam to the spot you point it at, and gives you a fairly accurate (depending on what type you buy), and instant, reading.

I'd get the max min thermo, it's what I use and its good, you put one probe in fixed at the cool end and put the reader at the basking end, hang it on a nail in the viv... it has a memory on it so you can see the temp ranges, obviously you can get the other one which is a point and shoot device and it reads instantly but I think it's nice to have one that you can just look at. it will take a little while to warm up when you first put it in but then it reads pretty quick.

the one you bought I have never seen before so can't comment sorry.
