In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well my DVD drive is making me nuts!

Cody (my 6 year old) was in here a few days ago and put a blank CD in my DVD drive, so what, I took it out, but now the :censored: thing will not shut.

I close it, it opens, I smack it shut, it opens, I knock the crap out of it to shut it, it OPENS!

he could not have done anything to "mess" it up with a stupid CD so is it just fried, stupid, trying to make me kill it, etc?

Scott -- Thank you, it WORKED!!!

Coyote -- I was wondering if it forgot what it was or was trying to make me wonder if I knew what it was but I was really thinking it wanted me to kill it and get a new one!

Shut the computer down.

Below the opening where the DVD slides in should be a small hole which is used to manually eject a disk if the drive won't open.

Unbend a large paper clip and insert it into this hole - you should feel some resistence and then a little give. While you are pushing the paper clip into the hole manually push the drawer that holds the DVD in until it is completely closed.

Power on the computer and see what happens.

I would have suggested duct tape.....heh heh. :hehe:

My kids have broken so many things, I have become adept at fixing just about anything with duct tape, lol. But I'm glad someone knew how to actually FIX it. ;)

Im with you on that, I have a hole in the main line pipe in my kitchen that is "repaired" with duct tape lol

Plan B was duct tape.

Plan C: Ball pein hammer

I see only one flaw in that plan.....why go for just a little ball pein hammer, when you could use a 6 lb sledge and REALLY fix it? :hehe:

lol I was thinking of stomping the crap out of it lol

Nah, one or two good swings with the sledge will do just as much "repairing" with less effort than stomping.
