In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rodent Pro my experience

I have ordered from Rodent Pro twice now. The orders were both $200 - $300 dollars.

My first order was for a bunch of weanling rats that were not on sale and were really nice and 30 or 40 Large rats that were part on Rodent Pro's "Fire Sale".

Unfortunately, instead of Large rats I receied HUGE XX-Large rats, that were so big, I didnt even want to try and feed them to even my biggest girls and I threw them away...

Was this a mistake? I didnt think so. I thought they ran out of Large rats and gave me (the little $250 buyer the left over sh ! :censored: ! m

What did they say when you contacted them on this? No one local to you could have used the over-sized large rats?

Have you ever talked to them about it? It's not that nice to post a thread on the BOI relating a "bad experience" when you made no attempt to see what happened and if they could do anything about it. They have always been great to deal with and if you would take the time to contact them with any problems you would probably find that out.

Anyway....Throwing them away was a complete waste. You could have at least looked to see if there was a wildlife rehabilitation center around you that could have used the donation to feed animals they are rehabilitating.

WAIT A SECOND!!!!

Does your profile say Rome ITALY?!?! I don't think that they deliver quite that far.

IP check please.

I have ordered from Rodent Pro twice now. The orders were both $200 - $300 dollars. Maybe not the 2k or 3k orders Rodent Pro may be used to, but alot of money to me none the less.

I decided to give Rodent Pro another chance this past spring. I placed another order for about $250 worth of weanling and medium rats. I stayed away from the "fire sale" this time for fear of having the left-overs unloaded on me again.

This time my order was correct for size and quantity. however, my order was a day late and came in with NO dry ice on a very warm day.

Needless to say, this will be my last order with Rodent Pro. I do not call and complain. I took the 40 XX-Large rats and I tossed them in the garbage, along with a couple dozen weanling rats this year that were half-frozen when the arrived for lack of dry ice.

I complain with my wallet and I use the best advertising - word of mouth, to let other people who may be considering ordering their rats to beware.

If you are like me and do not order 3k worth of rats and mice, you may just get what they feel like sending you, and in a less than optimal condition.

I am going to try Big Cheese or another supplier this time and I will report back. It couldn't be any worse than my two experiences with Rodent Pro.

Rodent Pro service = :banghead0...Why bother? Take your money elsewhere.

I dont bother..

Hit send by accident, didnt mean to 2x post...sorry.

I dont bother calling. I dont have time to return rats. I give people a second chance. Everything I wrote is true. I dont live in Rome, I live in CT. I dont want people to bother me.

The story is all true. I reported the facts. To me once is a mistake, twice is lack of customer service, caring, or both?

Alan,

If you are lying about your location, you make it more difficult for people to believe anything else that you are posting about.

Seems a little shady.

Just my two cents

Heather

Lying would be to say New Jersey when I live in Connecticut. Do you really think I expected people to believe Rome Italy?? Personally, I dont care if anyone believes me or not? I relayed my experience with Rodent Pro, I have the Pay Pal invoices that prove my orders, but I have nothing to prove. I am dont give a crap. I will NEVER order from these rat hucksters again based on my two experiences. If you dont believe me and choose to order from them everyday for a year, I could care less.

What I wrote is the truth.

What a way to handle a problem.

75 bucks..

down the drain, not a problem.

I had my say, I told the truth....

Thanks for printing my whole post. -double post...sorry. This laptop on the couch with a cigar and beer is a little tough to navigate.

I agree I have dealt with Rodent Pro a long long time and my mother does as well.. I have ordered everything from pinkies to the biggest feeders they have and never a problem if there is they corrected it from everyone and everything I have heard. If you ahd called them maybe they could haev made things right.. You say you are too busy to call or at least that is how it sounds but you can take the time to post here? I would have called them instead of posting here however that is just my opinion and as my mom says unfortunately everyone is allowed to have one. I do feel it was a terrible waste of feeders when a reptile rescue, zoo or even a local pet store would have taken/possibly bought them from you. But I guess you felt it was better to just throw them out. Hopefully you can find someone to supply you with rodents you feel is better for you though I doubt it everyone occasionally makes mistakes it is how they correct them that counts in the end

You could leave the location blank.....you'd be surprised to find out that that works too.

Anyway, you NEVER contacted them, or gave them a CHANCE to make it right. Yet you feel that making a public announcement of bad service is just fine and dandy.... You are the best example yet of a BAD BUYER..... ie. BAD GUY.

I feel sorry for anyone else who accepts your business.

My experience..

I relayed my experience with Rodent Pro. I took the 40 XX-Jumbo Rats and I threw them out. I also threw the half-thawed weanlings out. I shouldnt have to return rats - twice, to get what I paid for. Evrything I wrote is ALL true.

Take the facts of the matter at face value then... If you believe me spending my hard earned money, and giving a business TWO TRIES to get it right, makes me the bad guy- fine.

I told the truth. Take it or leave it, I could care less.

Alan,

I can somewhat understand your frustration pertaining to rat size/availability if they failed to contact you if they could not fill your order. However I find it very hard to understand how you could throw away 30 or 40 large -or XXL- rats without even bothering to contact your local herp society/ rescue to see if they needed any... that's just mind boggling...

If you don't mind my asking, did you bother to write them an e-mail after the first order letting them know that you'd prefer mediums if they run out of large?

On that thought, did you bother to check the weigths of the rats you did order to make sure you are not ordering too big for you snakes? (It's happened to me before)

For such a busy person, one may wonder why you'd bother to take the time to post on the BOI... you should be able to be heard loud and well from the top of the highest building you can find :)

Just my $.02

Isn't it just common buyer/seller courtesy to try to address the situation privately with the other party before bringing it to the public?

Listen..

I ordered the Large rats a year ago, the others were 3 months ago. I had the XX Jumbos in the fridge for a couple months then chucked em. I was making room and thats the way it was. The others were half thawed and garbage. There was NO dry ice...

This is not a well thought out attack on Rodent Pro. Maybe I could have called them...???

What made me post was all the wonderful stuff I saw below about RP. This just set me off tonight. I havent been dwelling on these rodent sellers for a year and a half, I havent even thought about them really??

If people think I should have called & sent the stupid rats back, just to get what I originally paid for- fine. Take that into account when reading my post?? I feel they sent me the XX-Jumbos cause they ran out of the "fire sale" large and that pisses me off.

I told the truth..take it or leave it.

I could have posted that I called them repeatedly, but that WOULD BE a lie now wouldnt it?

You mean like living in Rome, Italy?

You told the truth about something...but about what? Your feelings. People make mistakes...sometimes twice in a row...even businesses...it's best to deal with the problem...it's not good to just have a hissy fit about it and go by your feelings about it...leave the feelings out of it until AFTER you have adressed the problem or talked to them about it...then hissy fit all you want...business and emotions rarely mix well. You didn't even give them a chance.

Well even if they had sent the wrong ones I am sure they would have compensated somehow and since they have no idea how big your snakes are maybe on their end they thought was a better value for you.In any instance I have ever heard of with them they have always tried to make things right. You also never said how they were shipped if it was by greyhound then they cannot guarantee delivery time due to unpredicatability of the schedule of the buses but they will replace anything that is bad or thawed. If it is as you said months ago then why the post now? Then would have been more appropriate and done more for you than waiting. Do you have any of the dates of corespondence or who you talked to email copies etc.? I am just asking because if this happened awhile back then as angry as you seem to be about all of this just makes you look a tad bit spiteful.....I am just trying to see where you are coming from and it is kind of hard at the moment.....

I have seen plenty of times where things were made right, and all were at no cost to the customer.

I doubt anyone will take your "complaint" serious seeing how you NEVER even gave them a chance to fix things. There is a reason they have so many satisfied customers, including many of the top reptile breeders, they are great to deal with.

They produce a ton of rats and would not need to substitute XXL rats for L rats. It was just a mistake, and it could have been either yours or theirs. You have not posted any proof so for all we know you could have been the one to mess up the order yourself.

As for the second order, once the order is handed to the delivery company it is out of the hands of RP. So it's not really their fault if it was a day late, but I bet they would have fixed it anyway. My UPS guy delivered a package of mine to an apartment leasing office down the street from me. The address was right, it just wound up there, but I wouldn't blame the company I bought from. (BTW...It was supplies, so no big deal)

But you would not know how GREAT their customer service is because you NEVER gave them a chance.

Anyway I will add that I get all my rodents from Rodentpro and they are one of the easiest people to get a hold of and to work with. :D
