In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My Experience with Chris Altizer AKA HerpLuver

Paypal doesn't pull funds for a refund from the bank account. They just use whatever is left in their paypal account.
Good luck guys.

You are right, PayPal only verifys a person has a bank account when they originally set-up the service.

Also a buyer, they try to have you pay directly from this account, to the other seller but you have other options too... to pay via a Credit or Debit Card. This is the way to go for any buyer for it offers protection beyond what PayPal does- the Visa or MC company (whatever logo), ALSO protects purchases from fraud. They will ask you to go through PayPal first, then contact them. And they will refund any monies spent by the buyer not refunded by PayPal.

Best Wishes- Deb

Yes and no. If your bank account is set up with them they can and will pull funds directly from your bank account should they side with the other party. Their TOS clearly outlines this right. Go to www.paypalsucks.com and you will see all of the things you agreed to. It's rather scary.

Well now I just called my Visa Check Card Co. and they credited my acct. 100.00 and are going after Chris for the amount.
After seeing that paypal was not getting anything done I was not going to wait and do nothing. This is why I don't like paypal unless I can use my Check Card.
I'm Very sorry for the rest of you. I hope you can recover your loss. or I hope Chris thinks about what he has done and pays you back.

Amen to only using a Credit or Debit card through PayPal, glad you got your money back. I hope the others are also get their money back as well.

I understand what Griz is saying about the bank account used to set up a paypal account. But I have found that they don't require a minimum balance in the linked acct. This is why when good folks like those involved here go to get the refund, many times they find themselves SOL if they did a transaction directly from their personal bank accounts into the (scammers) account. The money is long gone before the deception is caught.

The only amount i am able to get back is 50.00. I am filing a report with my bank/visa debit card peoples now ( its in the mail on its way to me)

I can only get this amount back because originally.. i was paid for an item on ebay, and the money sat in paypal. it never touched my bank. Same with the other 50.00 for the rest of the transaction.

I suppose its something. but im really upset that im out 150.00 completely. this has taught me to transfer all funds to my bank account before making a purchase through paypal.

I'm sorry for your loss, you've always been a kind poster in these forums & no shock that you're a kind person... closing this chapter and moving on are in order for your sake now that you've done all you can do. I hope the actions of this less-than-enlightened person does not change your positive outlook on the world...
Sincerely,
Deb

Actually Griz that isn't entirely true.
Awhile back a cousin of mine purchased an amp from an aquantance of us both. She paid through paypal. The amp was never given. She filed a complaint with paypal and they sided with her but only gave her back what was in the sellers paypal account. 4.00 The seller still banks at the same bank, has the same checking account and still uses said checking account. Paypal said they can only return more money if it is placed in the paypal account. Not the bank account used to verify the paypal account.
It's just a sucky situation all the way around. Paypalsucks is an interested website, the ebay and citibank forums are eye opening as well.
Alicia, sorry that it worked out that way for you.

Fortunately my bank is honoring their buyers protection plan and I'll be getting a full refund. I have to wait a couple weeks for it to be processed but I'm not going to complain.

I was a bit ticked that PayPal wasn't able to do more but I really can't get mad at them.

I am mad at Chris. He has now passed the point, in my opinion, of being "down on his luck". He's now reached full "scumbag" status in my opinion. It's just a couple days shy of being a full 6 weeks since I sent him money. Although he kept mediocre contact up until the 1st of January, his lack of contact afterwards is pathetic. I don't want to hear the excuses of he probably couldn't get to a computer or he's going through a crisis. Everyone hits bumps in the road. You can't tell me he couldn't get to a phone sometime in the last 3 1/2 weeks to call any of us.

I honestly felt guilty when I originally posted on this thread. What if I was wrong about him? What if I didn't wait long enough? Am I just expecting too much, too soon, and making myself look like an ass?

I can't believe I originally felt guilty about this situation............

It's now the 25th of January and 4 people are still waiting on him to contact us. If it hasn't happened by now, it's not going to happen at all. Unfortunately, the only thing I can do is leave him a negative trader rating and post here for others to see. I hope the others involved do the same.

I have been away from the forum for a LONG time. I got a het. pied female from Chris about 10 months ago. I had no real problems with the transaction. I am now wondering, however, about if I might not have gotten what I paid for. I was given a "sex and genetic" guarantee. From what I have read on this thread I can probably forget about that being any good. Does anyone out there have any experience with Chris in that regard? Not that there is anything I can do about it anymore. Just was wondering if I spent serious money for a 100% het. pied female that is something less than that. If I am asking this in the wrong spot I am sorry and could you direct me to the proper area. I'm not looking for digs on Chris, just any input that might let me know if I got what I paid for.

Jerry, it depends on who he got the animal from. Hopefully it IS Het.... anyone?

I know he had advertised a HET (I think Albino) from TSE before that whole charade was exposed. He showed the animal next to the "genetics guarantee" from TSE.

If Chris A sold a "het" from Chris J before Chris J was exposed then Chris A is hardly to blame for that.

Jerry.....was the het from TSE? And do you remember exactly when the transaction took place?

If the het was prodcuced by Chris JOHNSON of Top Shelf Exotics, you very well may be out of luck. If it was before TSE's "het scam" was exposed, I wouldn't say that Chris A had real fault in the matter, there are many of us stuck with those hets....

Yup, that would depend on when it was sold to Jerry; 10 months is a pretty thin line, though, considering Chris A. knew the doubts of the hets in the April-May timeframe.

It looks like it's right on the line close, as in sold in April - hopefully Jerry will confirm.

Too close for a call of 100% either way. However, IMO... regardless of who that last probable fake het was sold to, it was so close to the realizing of scams that it might have been more prudent to buy the snake back. At the very least the buyer should have been informed and given the option since the genetics were in question less than three weeks 2-3 weeks later.
