Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My First Beardie

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh that is so adorable!! Thanks for posting those, they are so so cute. Toby or Santa doesn't look too scared! LOL

Tracie

OH, Toby def. wasn't scared...Santa, wasn't scared, just tickled pink? shocked? at the idea that an animal other than a dog or cat was brought in. :p

Hello

Hello Amber,

Great Toby wasn't scared at all. He looks so cute..too bad you couldn't get a suit & hat onto him though!

I guess not too many people bring in their bearded dragons to pose with Santa! LOL

Tracie

I guess not...:p Toby got his St. Nicks' gift today. Hasn't gone near it yet, but oh well, he sleeps where Harmony put it, so he might use it later tonight. :D

Can't wait to get him in a bigger tank. Will be making him a small den with bigger, sturdier rocks or something so that way I won't have to worry about if it will fall down on top of him. Plus, it'll be nice and dark for him at night when he goes in...well, not too dark seeing that the side by the glass will be open.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Toby got his Christmas present early huh? That is neat. I bet you are anxious to get a larger built for him. He will love it.
A nice dark den for him will be nice too. :D He will be so spoiled, too! That would be funny if he could actually open a present wrapped up in paper! LOL
I hope he is doing well, & eating like a good boy.

Tracie

He's back on the commercial food and freeze dried crickets. I have SOME crickets left, just not enough for a full meal for him, so I'm letting them live until the next shipment comes in, which should be no later than the end of next week. I mix in squash and apple baby food for some flavor for him....and he still gets his peppers and dragon bites and what not. He's getting tubby..it's SO cute!

He hasn't gotten his Christmas present yet, just his St. Nicks' present. :D

Hello

Hello Amber!

OH freeze dried crickets & pellets again! His crickets come in this week I hope? At least he isn't too picky though, that is good.
At least he likes the squash & apple & peppers, too. It sounds like he gets a good variety anyway. I bet he has a cute little beardie belly.
Oh just the St. Nick's present huh, so his major presents will be later! :D He is very spoiled now.

Tracie

Hi I was curious what site you saw the little jungle gym type toys out of fleece and other things for Bearded Dragons. My big dragon seems to be board lately and running and digging at the walls some. He also is a bit spoiled, he just got his third 'larger cage installment. Your dragon seems quite content to sit w/ Santa and the pooch. Keep up the good work/love! G

Yes major presents will be later. The crickets arrived today! *shock* I wasn't expecting them. haha.....He's eating an entire toilet paper tubes worth (inside and outside) couldn't shake the excess off, there is also a big bowl of worms that he's eating.

He DOES have a belly on him...lmao...(just looked over at him haha) I can't wait till he puts more weight on....and that belly gets bigger. hee hee

I found them on Ebay.....I typed in Bearded Dragon, I think, then looked at all the options that came up.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Great the crickets came today, on a saturday, really? That is very surprising, too.
Oh don't worry, he will get a bigger belly on him. His entire body will fill out once he hits 1 year, he will most likely hit 75% of his length or more & the rest of him will just fill out & mature.
What presents are you getting him for Christmas? Toys, food, a UVB? Lucky little Toby!

Talk soon.
Tracie

The UVB is waiting until his bigger tank, this way I can get a long one to fill the whole thing.....I might get him some toys, a nd def. some food...maybe some Silk Worms opposed to the others I get him (can't think of the name at the moment. :p )

I bought him a new basking light last week because his other one stopped working, I go to put so me apple chunks into his bowl, and the filament to his new basking light busts, so I have to go out and get yet another one. *sigh* I don't like those little clasp stands...they aren't very sturdy. Maybe by the time I get his new cage, I can figure something else out, this is why I wanted to build his cage.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Yeah, a long tube light to cover the top of his tank will be good. Just remember to get a reptisun 10 flouescent tube & not a reptiglo 10 flourescent tube, ok? There is a HUGE difference in the two lights.
Toby sounds like he is going to have an awesome Christmas this year & after the holidays when he gets his new huge tank too.
You are probably talking about the phoenix worms? He would love the silkies I am sure. They would help him to fill out too along with crickets also.
Your basking light broke? What type are you using?

Tracie

I don't remember what type I was using, it didn't break on its own though. I went to move the lid off the tank and the light fell off. I got a different brand this time it's only a 100 watt opposed to a 150 watt only because I think it was getting too hot for him. He seems to be enjoying basking more now than he did then.

He slept in his little cave for the first time last night. I had taken his stacking rocks and propped them against the glass, then some on top of the big basking rock he has, and made him a small cave to sleep in, then I stuck his blue fleece blankie and the the red fleece cloak i had made him into it, he finally slept in there. Was too cute! :D

He knocked over his branches again. *sigh* will have to fix them once again tonight. I think he's getting too big for them. haha

Hello

Hello Amber!

Ha, I bet Toby is getting too big for his branches now. Time to get some larger ones for him now! :D Yah, that is a great thing, he has grown alot.
Well, if he is basking more than he was previously that could be an indication that it was too hot for him. They tend to not like it as hot the older they get. Also, you have to take into consideration bodymass holds heat too, so the more they weigh the better they retain heat.

Oh how cute, you put his blue fleece blankie & the red one in his cave & he is scratching around & sleeping in there? How sweet. He has a little bed now.
He should have plenty of soft stuff to sleep on then. :D

Tracie

Yup, too bad that there is no room for bigger branches in his current cage. :( He'll just have to wait. OH, I found those play things on Ebay, they went from like $15-$20 up to almost $40 :( So I won't be able to get him one, BUT, I took a good glimpse at it, I MIGHT be able to make one myself. Unsure, but will try once he's in his bigger cage. :D

Hello

Hello Amber!

How are things going? Too bad there isn't more room in Toby's tank for the larger branches. Hopefully soon you will upgrade his tank for Christmas.
That is too bad the toys went for too much money on Ebay. Sometimes, you can really get a good deal on Ebay while other times prices go too high.
Maybe you can make him one.
Is he still eating well?
Talk soon.

Tracie

He's eating great. I just weighed and measured him today. He weighed in at 5.6 ounces and was 14 inches long.

I rebuilt his cave, but he's not sleeping in it at the moment. I guess he's mad that the blankets aren't in there this time, instead I have them to the side of the rock.

He also got a bath today. Well, more of a shower, THEN bath. I used the spray nozzle on the sink and showered him with it. I had it on low pressure, it was funny watching him. Once it filled up enough I stopped and just let him relax until he decided to poo in it. *sigh*

I'll find him SOMETHING to have on Christmas Morning, just unsure of what. He won't get his tank until sometime around early to mid next year once he gets closer to being too big, this way we have enough money saved up to not only get the tank, but everything we are going to need for it, including one of those point and shoot temperature thermometers and what not. Plus, I want to get him a hammock to sleep in.

Hello

Hello Amber!

That is hilarious he had a little shower, & he liked it? Great he had a good bath too. That way you don't have to clean up his tank though! LOL
How old is he now? That is pretty good, at 14.5 inches & his weight I am sure has gone up too that is great. Just wait until you put a good UVB on him he will grow more for you.
So he is pouting because you took his blankies out of his cave? Poor thing. Are you going to put them back in?
Well the next tank he is getting will be his permanent tank so everything has to be just right. A nice hammock, climbing stuff, & lots of space. LOL Yeah the temp guns are very nice to have.

Tracie

I put them in a different area because the crickets liked to hide in the blankies under the cave thing, which made it hard to clean out at night. So, I just put them in a small corner for when he doesn't sleep in his cave and I put his pillow into the cave.

Yes, his permanent cage has to be PERFECT.....we are going to use a small wood box to make him a den he can sleep in at night so lights won't bother him when we stay up later than him.

He's now eating 3 week old crickets which is great. He fills up a bit faster now and doesn't go through them as quickly. I want to say he is roughly 5 or 6 months old? I have no idea how old he was when I bought him but I know I've had him since a little before August...so that is 4 months. And I'm adding the extra month or so because he wasn't very small when I got him, small yes, but not as small as the ones they have been selling lately.

He is watching Spirit right now, and eating.....I can't believe how intently he watches t.v.

Harmony likes when I weigh and measure him...she calls it his "doctor appointment" :p She likes to try and help, but all she does is get him riled up so he starts running all over the place.
