In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Newbie to the forum. We have some beardies, but this is the first Uromastyx that I have owned. I have always found them so cute. She is just over two, and is very healthy, and was captive bred. I have alot of education before I close to ready, but I am curious as to whether or not what I was told is the truth. It is that weight is less of an issue when it comes to breeding Uros. The main criteria, besides overall health, is that the female be at least 3 years old so that she does not become egg bound. True??? Also, there seems to be a little, what I call salt like residue around her nostrils. Is this something that I need to be concerned about? Thanks

The salt residue is normal for herbivorous reptiles. Its just a natural way for them to expel excess salt from the vegetation they eat. You see this with iguanas a lot, too.

Not 100% sure on the weight/age thing. Check out this forum. There may be someone who can answer your question better than I

I would say weight might be an issue. It might not be as big of an issue like with dragons or other lizards but its been suggested to me to wait until atleast 100g to start breeding.

Beautiful Uro. Is that a Saharan?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it a Saharan. She gets way brighter too. I didn't know it when I got her. I thought she had nice colors for a female when I got her, but after a few days of basking, her colors really exploded. I think maybe he had her heat too low. I will weigh her, and report that. Also, thanks for the link. Nice sight for the new Uro owner.
