In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello Everyone!

This is my Female MHD Godzilla.

I bought her 2 months ago from a pet store called BIG Als. The first day i got her she ate 1 cricket but after 5 days she was not eating. So I took her to the vet for a fecal and checkup.

Fecal Sample came positive for parasites

Checkup she was in overall really good condition except for not eating. Was Instructed to force feed on baby food and giving her pedialyte.

So as of 2 weeks ago I have finished all antibiotics for her and she looks alot more perky but still not eating on her own. Been force feeding also.

Here is a picture of her a while back probably a month ago, I have to take some new photos today.

This is what I am struggling with is trying to get her to eat on her own. She looks as if shes not interested and what I am providing for food. I have tried butterworms, wax worms, crickets, meal worms, meal worm beetles, and superworms. Right now I have been force feeding meal worm/beetles and superworms (due to butterworms and wax worms dieing). I want to try some Earthworms but their is no bait shop near me, I live in Mississauga Ontario. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Let me know what you think.

Thanks

Trevor

Wow!

Her home is very impressive, I just love it! Looks like a dream home for an MHD from everything I've read!....glad to hear she is becoming more active, as for the food thing. Although mine will eat (waxworms are his fave) seems like he only wants to eat every 3rd day or so, and then will eat 3-7 of them. Seems to be drinking very well too now. And since he is eliminating with regularity after a feeding, I think he is impaction free. He's still quite small yet, but I gotta wonder too about the parasites. Like I said, as soon as he gives me another sample, it is going to the vet to find out and give him the necessary meds.

Ziggy was from a pet store too. And from everything I've read, the info THEY gave me wasn't nearly enough, nor was it very accurate. I do not know if he was captive bred or wild caught, and the person I dealt with couldn't tell me, so I assume is WC, thus the chance of parasites is quite high, almost a sure bet.

Your pics are GREAT!. I like how green the spines and face look in some of the shots. Mine is very dark and has the black sorda stripes across his body. Pretty sure he is of the crucigera species, and the petstore did have him listed as one.

Keep me posted on your girl! I love having another new owner to compare notes with and get ideas from. We just got two AWESOME adult beardies this weekend, so man, I am just absorbing everything about them that I can read now too...Really love all my critters so far, they are fascinating.

Good luck with Godzilla!...sounds like she has an owner who truly cares and is trying to do right by her. That is the most important thing.

Oh, and also...I was going to tell you, it wasn't easy getting Ziggy to eat. I tried a lot of different worms of course, and crickets...The mealies and waxies he eats okay, but I didn't ever find a ton of info on *how* to feed. He has never taken them from a bowl at all, so that was a waste of moolah. He will eat the mealworms if I place him on the ground of his enclosure and drop them in front of him and they catch his eye. Most he's eaten at one sitting I think was 11. I tried to present worms using a forceps, and a few times he has snatched them from me that way too. His latest is when I put him on my forearm and sit in the recliner near his tank. I will place 3-4 waxworms on my upper arm so he can see them moving around. On the days he is hungry, he seems to enjoy snapping them up in this way. then crawls up on my head to rest. Otherwise, in his tank, he really doesn't move a whole lot, unless I place him in his pool on occasion. Mostly he just likes to hang vertically from his favorite greenery in the left hand corner. So anyways, maybe you can get something useful from that info? Take Care! :)

Thanks I have worked really hard/spent to much on her home. My next buy will be the new exo-terra 36x18x36. I have tried everything to feed her. I went to the pet store today and was told that i can try raspberries, yams, and sweet potato. I was like  so i tried to put a raspberry in to see but nothing yet she did look at it though which was funny.

I will try what you did with your mhd in feeding. Its very frustrating that I still cant get her to eat on her own.

Raspeberries eh? Wow, I'd have never thought of trying that!...too funny. Yeah, I hope you get her to start eating better. It's been a few days now for mine again and no droppings right now to take to vet, so I am watching closely. Has been drinking water really well though from his pool. Seems just okay still, but...I just have a feeling he should be eating much more too. Dont give up!

Shes still not eating, i have no clue on how to intice her. She doesnt seem interested if i put worms near her she closes her eyes.

He said during day he keeps his at 72-75 degrees. I try and keep my guy a tiny bit warmer as he seems more active in 75-80 range....Much hotter than 84 I hear is not good. I take it you have MHD's too?....I know that trian and I are both looking for good advice/help on some issues.

Most of the time at its 75. At night its lowered but she stays near the top so i would say its 72.

That's what Ziggy does too Trian...just closes his eyes if he isn't interested in the chow that's being offered. Just when I start worrying that he is lethargic though, he will have a burst of activity (running up my arm/head, drinking in the pool) or he will eat a good amount. It's just so sporadic, no pattern yet that I'm seeing.... Still not sure what the 'norm's are for this animal as far as eating/drinking/activity etc. I just keep reading!

Mountain horned dragons are insectivorous, consuming only live food. Common feeders in captivity include crickets, earthworms, silkworms, mealworms, moths, roaches, grasshoppers. Mountain Horned Dragons require a variety in diet and will often refuse food when offered in excessive redundancy.

i would bump her temp to 85 for day time temp

Mine doesnt have a burst of activity, doesnt run from me, even when i go to take her out of the terrarium she just chills there and lets me take her out without even fighting. When i take her out she just sits on my hand and doesnt really move. Doesnt climb up my arm, she used to when i first got her but calmed down alot. She does seem more active when im not in the room, from swimming to climbing but thats about it.

I have tried feeding her a variety of foods. Mealworms, crickets, superworms, wax worms. I need to try silk worms and i need to find earthworms around here but i have come up empty handed.

Yeah, have fed nothing but live stuff. Seems to like the waxworms most, but I heard those should kinda be considered 'treats' because are so high in fat. has eaten mealworms, but then I read those are super high in chitin and that can be hard for them to digest if they eat too much of it. Zero interested in crickets, and zero interest in the offered earthrworms (which I had read on many posts they are sposta *love* and are good because of the high water content in them) If I remember right has eaten only a few of the superworms. They are so big tho, even the 'small' ones. that feeding them still makes me nervous..My guy is still pretty small.
