I've been in denial for awhile now...

... but the moment has finally come for me to face up to the truth and admit to the worldwide web...

Or at least I was. Unasked for (by me, anyway) and unexpectedly, I recently received official notice that my ability to participate at kingsnake.com had been fully reinstated. Now the question that remains is whether I still WISH to participate there. We'll see. I've just attempted to initiate in kingsnake.com's new Feedback & Announcements Forum a serious discussion of PetHobbyist practices toward users that some here might find worth checking out. See the thread beginning there with "Hello, it's me…" by yours truly on this date if you're interested, and please pass the word on to others you think might like to know about it.

Hey, what happened to the support group, anyway? Here I finally come out only to discover it's been dissolved? Who do I turn to in moments of weakness now? How do I know what the 2nd, 3rd, 4th… steps toward recovery are without the guidance of those who have gone before me? Geez… :^]

The forum you are speaking of was started as a joke at the spur of the moment. But as time wore on, and things seemed to be getting worse rather then better, it no longer seemed as funny as it once did. Then as the isolated bannings became more similar to a wholesale slaughter, it was no longer funny at all. So I felt compelled to change the name of this forum to something more appropriate.

I spent some time on the Feedback forum you speak of, but try to find any of my postings there. It soon become obvious to me, that there has been a fundamental change in the way kingsnake.com now chooses to accept what people say on the forums. So I am no longer wasting my breath there. They are obviously not interested in what anyone else thinks or says about their actions.

There's lots of room to grow here, and improvements are coming along nicely. Your input is welcome and I do my best to make people feel at home here. If you want to criticize what I am doing here, then I will accept that as being an effort to help me in what I am doing. Fortunately, I have no illusions about being perfect and can't fault anyone for seeing that as clearly as I do myself.

I'm sure the Field Collecting forum on this site will welcome your participation.

Yeah, I understand and sympathize with your position concerning what's going on at kingsnake.com. I just feel that I've gotten so much from that website over the past couple of years, that it's the very least I can give back to try one more time to fight for positive change there. Like I said, we'll see...

Honestly, I have and will continue to drop in here at faunaclassifieds occasionally, and I greatly appreciate your operating it, but I'm unlikely to become a regular here. My recreational time at the keyboard is unfortunately limited these days, so I preferentially hang out at message boards with a subthread structure that allows me to easily sift through the various (sub)conversations going on at any one time and quickly find just the ones I wish to follow or participate in. That was kingsnake.com's big draw for me, and that's why I'm currently hanging out at www.fieldherpers.com (which isn't just for field herpers, by the way!). But I really do appreciate the welcome, and will make an effort to give something back here from time to time.

This style of message board has a whole lot of bells and whistles that aren't immediately apparent. For instance, when you go to the main page of the forums, there is a link right below the
"Welcome back, XXXXXX" that says "View New Posts". This will display all new messages posted since your last visit so you can scan through there to see if any interest you.

Further, when you browse through the forum listings in the Discussion section, any forum with a new posting has a yellow highlighted icon next to it. Then when you go to that forum, there is an icon that will take you to the first unread message in the thread you select.

If you click on the "forum map" button above, it will display ALL of the forums on this site from which you can jump to any one of them directly.

Yes, I understand about the subforum threading issue, and I used that sort of message board system for a long time. But I decided that a chronologically single threaded design makes it easier on people wanting to read an entire thread. Some of the threads that have been on the BOI would be impossible to follow with subthreads!

Anyway, I would like to think that maybe JeffB will be man enough to admit he was taking the wrong road with his actions. Perhaps enough people have abandoned him to make him think twice about what he was doing. We will see.
