In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My son-in-law Rusty picked up this girl and asked me what she was and what I would recommend to utilize her unique coloration!!
She was given to him as a common Colombian bred in the Tampa FL area but out of all the common Colombians I have ever had or seen she dose not quite fit what I would call a Colombian!
I could not help him with either question so I offered to ask your opinions.
#1 what is she "if you think a cross what cross would you care to guess?"
#2 he wants to utilize the intense silver body color and the copper in the saddles so what in your opinions would best compliment and utilize these.

Oh my god its Dory!

I recently (two weeks ago) bought a RTB of this type of coloration as well.
So pretty...XD

It could be a CA cross. It could be a really unattractive Colombian. Impossible to tell.

Without knowing what the boa is, I would not breed it on those grounds alone.

That aside, there is nothing about the boa I see as worth passing on genetics wise, especially if it ends up just being a common Colombian Boa.

If he wants to get into breeding boas he should grab a pair with known lineage.

Just my two cents on it.

I appreciate and respect your opinion but,
I have not personally see this silver coloration in any boas other than the Bolivian silver backs, As for the copper in the saddles it looks like the Panamanians I had a while back, so on the boa being ugly I kindly disagree, but to each their own.
I personally hope it is not a cross of some kind "As I fear this may be the case"
I already have one in the family I am at odds with with her cross!
If it is a Colombian there may be something special to her, either way it would be nice to know

I would love to see pictures and hear where you got it and who bred it! :yesnod:

While I am still new to boas,I would like to just say that I personally see quite a bit of breeding potential in her. I particularly like the dark coloration in her tail,as well as the before mentioned saddles,as well as how they work with her body color. :)

If someone were to get her tail colors on a salmon I think I'd be in heaven. XD

But that's just personally what I find appealing.

What is he going to market them as?

You cannot really claim them to be Colombian, CA or otherwise. You would have to just say they are a cross to whatever it was bred with. There is not much of a market for that. The crosses that do sell well on the market (i.e. Sunsets, Hypo Hogs, Roswells ... etc. etc.) have been selectively bred over a period of years to obtain the look that they have now ... when they are real Sunsets or real Hypo Hogs.

And while the argument can be made that all Hypo boas are a cross of some sort, they too have been "perfected" over a long time. The original Panamanian X Colombians were not that great in appearance. It took quite a bit of selective breeding over time to make them into what they are today.

But, those crosses can actually be indentified by what was originally crossed with what.

That cannot be said for that boa.

Also, copper coloration in boa saddles is actually pretty common. Gus Rentfro breeds very selectively bred Colombians and they exhibit this trait fairly regularly from what i have seen. As for the silver coloration, it could be the result of the cross. Again ... difficult to know without knowing what the boa is.

Nice pictures! I agree with the approach of only breeding animals where the bloodline is known. That said, is there any way you can research that information from the source? Sometimes a bit sleuthing turns up unexpected information. Good luck!

When I talked o him this weekend he contacted the original owner and is supposed to get the breeders information,
As for if he has heard any thing back yet I am not sure at this time but I will post what ever he uncovers.
I do know from personal experience it can take some time to track everything down, who bred what and got what from who, and a lot of the time what you find is not what you hope for!

I can speak from experience on that as well.

Took me months to find the true origins of a boa I have that was supposed to be het. for albino. She is not, however, she is a gorgeous normal so I kept her anyway.

Was frustrating regardless.

non locality...

It sorta' looks like a Crawl Cay boa. In any case, with no lineage info, it is a non locality boa. Even if you found a locality boa to breed to it that looks similar, I would consider it out crossed making it a non locality animal, unless of course you get the info you're looking for. Best of luck.
