Hi my name is Nathan Horton and i know Chris at Nature coast exotics. I used to sell wild caught animals to him. I know from my dealings with Chris that he is an entirely unreliable buisness man. Every time that i called him and setup a deal something happened to where it took three more days to 2 weeks for him to come through. There were set prices on the animals i sold him, but somehow everytime i got paid i somehow got paid less than before on the same animals. When i asked to see the notebook where he wrote down how much each animal i sold him cost i could see that he scribbled out the original price i was getting and replaced it with a more nature coast exotic friendly price. Ripoff. I traded for some mali uromastyx that died the day after i got them from him. He said he would replace them, it never happened. He would not answer the phone ever when i wanted some money he owed me. I don't hold anything against him because he has a disease he is a habitual liar. Everything that mike roberts said is the truth. I helped him out for 3 to 4 hours at his place (on multiple occasions) packing animals, cleaning cages, picking up snakes for him, because he's afraid of them. He said he would pay me and give me some hours towards my crocodillians liscense. None of that happened. I not going to say any more because thinking about how that guy rips people off makes me sick. Just an update on Chris Hunter, the deadbeat from Nature Coast Exotics…

He is still hiding and we still have not received any of the money he owes for the reptiles he stole. I did notice, however, there was an add on Kingsnake.com for adult Dwarf Caiman and the seller only identified himself as “Chris”. I didn’t bother to check the phone numbers but I am wondering if it’s the conman “Chris” Hunter and his reputation has gotten so bad he can’t use any more identifying information? OR,… it might actually be another “Chris” all together?

Anyway, people should still use EXTREME caution when dealing with this looser. He has made no attempt to rectify his thieving stunt with us and we have been bombarded with horror stories of other such activity from countless people out there. Just check out the guy’s rep. on this site or call around and ask people at random. Sure makes one wonder how these guys keep themselves out of jail, ha?

My whole situation with him was a misunderstanding except for the fact that he is afraid of snakes, but that doesn't make him a crook, i don't think he is a crook or a dishonest circumstances, He made good on everything i disputed. So i my opinion he is not dishonest or a crook. Chris is not hard to get ahold of and he is not hiding. Try calling or sending an email to him without bashing him in your message and he will respond. What?? Are you bonkers? Chris Hunter does and IS hiding! Even when I was being as nice as possible, he refused to answer the phone if he noticed it was our FL or Guyana number on the caller ID. Interestingly enough, he would snag the phone if ½ a ring if I called from another number. He ignores e-mails! He hides from phone calls! He does not call back to messages we leave! He is a crook!! Do you have any idea how many people have e-mailed me about his scams but they are afraid to post anything because he keeps stringing them along claiming he will pay them? They fear he will never pay if they write anything here. Apparently, he burned you also, then, eventually paid you now you are defending him? Look, I’m not looking for anything special here. I just want Hunter to pay for the animals he stole! If he tossed you a bone, eventually, you should still have the balls to let the world know how the guy operates. I would be glad to tell everyone he paid me,… IF he ever does, but I’m not going to pretend he is a great guy!!

You either misinterpreted my post or i miswrote it. I was not trying to defend nature coast i was just merely stating that he made good on what i disputed. I did quite a lot of business with the guy and came to know him pretty well. So i have some ideas of how to get ahold of him. Maybe i should have worded it more like this. It is easy for me to get ahold him. I do not do any business with Chris at all anymore, and i won't ever again. How would that post make me look good and why would i care what you thought of me bob? If you want to get ahold of him go to any of the reptile shows in Florida and he will be there. He attends the daytona and tampa shows regularly. Am I the only one who thinks it’s absolutely pathetic I would try and wrangle you in on a deal Chris Hunter burned me on? I appreciate the fact you are willing to try and help track that deadbeat down and, perhaps, we might be able to trick him into answering the phone, if we work together, but the simple truth is this is a matter between Chris Hunter and us. If he had any intension of paying for the animals he stole, I have made it extremely easy for him to contact me. My e-mail does not change. My FL phone number does not change. My Guyana phone number does not change. Anyone who has ever wanted to find me has never had a problem. As I see things, the ball is in his court. He has made it clear with his behavior and outlandish lies, he posted, he does not intend to pay. I simply want to warn anyone considering doing business with this criminal, to use extreme caution and expect him to grab the cash and vanish.

Should Chris Hunter decide to pay for the stolen animals, I’ll be glad to post it all over the place and never deal with that bozo again. I only want him to pay for the animals he ordered, nothing special. Is that too much to ask?

We just returned to Florida, after making a big circle of the “Southern” States. We visited many pet shops and reptile stores in FL, GA, SC, NC, TN, AL, OK, TX, LA, MS scouting climate, living expense and potential market (best we could in such a rushed trip). One thing that was universal was Chris Hunter’s reputation. Although, I must admit, he was not as big and well known as he fancies himself, those who did know him could not offer a positive word. It still simply amazes me how such a conman can rip so many people off and still run around pulling the same cons without it ever seeming to catch up with him. Apparently, P.T Barnum and Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics, are of the same mold?

It has been some time and I just wanted to post an update on this weasel’s stunts and my attorney’s answers to the dilemma we face in collecting money from Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics. Hunter continues to hide, he continues to refuse to answer our attorney’s letters and once every blue moon he shoots out a few lie or two about the animals he stole. In other words, nothing has changed! Same old predictable Chris Hunter we all know, ha? Well, our attorney did give us the option of paying another $2,500 + expenses to pursue a court case. Since Hunter stole $1,600 in animals and we have already spent almost that in attorney fees, one has to figure it’s time to jump off this sinking ship. All in all, Hunter cost us about $6,000 when we figure in the stolen animals, the animals we had quarantined for his next order and attorney expenses. All we can do at this point is warn people about this lunatics deeply rooted desire to rob, cheat and lie. It is nothing short of mind boggling how many people he has done such criminal actions to but, for some screwy reason, they think he will eventually pay so they lack the balls to post anything here to warn others. All I can do is continue to warn people of this joker and wait for all his bad dealings to catch up with him. There is always the chance he will fess up and pay, but let’s not hole our breath.

these are 2 of the 6 frogs of which 5 died in the first 24 hours from Nature Coast Exotics Inc The above frogs and one more died in the first 12

I sent them an email with this picture and the responce was:

I am sorry to hear about the deaths of the frogs. However, your frogs can't be covered under any guarantee as amphibians carry a live arrival guarantee only. Also, any overnight guarantee stipulates that the overnight shipment must be signed for. Your package was left at the door at 9:07 am yesterday morning and was not signed for.

The best I could do for you is if you decide to place another order, I could give you 10% off the order, not including the shipping. If you do decide to order, please email with what you would like. If you make payment, I cannot adjust for the credit.

Now this is true I recieved the package around 9:20 so they sat on my doorstep for 13 minutes

just wondering do you know what that is on the stomach of the treefrog?
oh and do you breed them or are they caught?

They Responded:

I asked Chris about that and he said that the 2 that he had were perfect and he personally packed the order so he does not know what that could be.

The frogs don't personally breed and I believe that they are imports. When we do get imports, they are kept a minimum of 2 weeks to ensure that they are eating, etc. before we ship anything out.

Surprising to hear Chris Hunter is still able to import. I filed a complaint with Guyana Ministry Of Wildlife and asked any future papers to import be stopped for “Chris Hunter” and “Nature Coast Exotics”. The head of the department, Ms. Sankar, said she would investigate the issue. She sent Hunter a certified letter, which went unanswered. Next, she said she would refuse all CITES and NON-CITES papers and file a complaint with CITES about this man. I am a bit surprised to see he is still importing but the wheels turn slowly and I’m not too sure governmental officials from Guyana have the pull to have international CITES papers refused. It could be he has been able to con a Suriname exporter to get those frogs and they could also come from someplace else, I am not aware of. I know Hunter is a man who tries to have as many contacts as possible so he is able to burn so many and still keep the stocks coming. Hey, at least that buffoon had his wife respond. That’s more than I can get.
