In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Natures Spirit Reptiles/Snake Shacks

Well, I've got 9 of them (and will definately be getting more) and have never had a problem with an escape even with hatchling corns.

I find it hard to believe that they didn't give you a remedy IF such a problem existed.

I also find it hard to believe that if you had such a problem with the first two that you would purchase a third.

Something just doesn't sound right with your claims.

Wow Jim S.

You are amazing. Anything to try to sell your racks?
I had an opinion of you when you came to my house several years ago and wanted to see exactly how I made my racks, asking tons of questions, at the time you said you might build cages but you would not build racks and become competition. I took you to your word and helped with any information I could supply. And this is how you thank me?
I guess my first impression of you was correct.

....not even gonna Touch on what Jim said...

All I can say is taht Casey and Darla are GREAT people...ive got one his racks from WAY back when he first started making them and its GREAT!!!!

and as for the Incubators...Im picking one up at Indy next weekend and i have NO doubt it will be Great!!!

Just like Everything else Casey sales or makes!

I cannot believe how many people are impressed with these racks. I think they suck, I purchased 2 of them at first. I finally had some baby chondros hatch. and one of my babies got out because the tub shelf is not even, the back slopes downward to give a bigger gap in the back, then I emailed them to let them know and they gave no remidy for my situation, I then had 2 racks and wanted a third one to make my stack complete and the third rack is wider then the first 2 so they look like crap and do not sit flush with my other cages, and then I had a baby escape from a different rack.

If I bought two racks and thought they sucked, why in the world would you buy another one? This makes no sense. I find it hard to believe that he would not help you out either, if it were true. I received great follow-up from Casey with my purchase.

This is why I started building racks myself because I think his stink.

Well, it makes sense now. What a cheap shot at competition.

I will purchase from Casey again, no problems buy with confidence.

I have three racks from Casey...and have housed VERY small hatchling colubrids in them without EVER having an escape...even in the larger tubs.
I WILL be ordering more racks from Casey in the near future...

Unless Casey stops making them...I probably won't buy from anyone else, ever.

His customer service and dedication to herpetology goes above and beyond just "business"...his passion for reptiles shines through in everything he does.

I am glad you are all happy with your purchases from Casey, I am not.
As far as purchasing another if I was not happy, well I thought that maybe it was just a fluke, so I purchased another at a show, because I wanted to complete my rack stack, I was not intersted in building racks. so what was I to do throw these away and build my own ? come on ! so after I brought the other rack home it was a differnet size. I am not out to give cheap shots, Just telling it like it is. Then after I had the third rack I needed to use one of the other racks because the first one wass full, and I had another escape.
Did I mention the warp,
notice how I need to shim the tubs !

I have 3 of Casey's racks and I could not be happier with them. I have met Casey in person a couple times, and he is an ultimate businessman. You could not deal with a nicer guy. His products are top-notch and so is his service.

I find no substance in Jim's claims considering he is a competitor to Casey. Sounds like a case of rack-envy if you ask me. :smokin:

When was the purchase? The rack looks like it has been used for awhile.

You are building racks now, right? That is what you said.
If this purchase was long ago, why post now? Except for the fact you now have racks for sale yourself seems to be the only reason.

A few years ago, got fined and did not pay my fine for close to a year, been seeing everyweek posts about how great the racks are, decided that someone needs to post how crapy they are, take it like you will, I do not need to down casey to sell anything, just posted my experience just like you did. Sorry you do not like it. I am not happy so why should I pretend to be ?

I was thinking of a comparison pic. The pics you posted look like you have beaten the crap out of those racks. I just saw one at a show that someone was trying to re-sell after they had abused it. Also I was wondering if yours were made the same way. Maybe the pics you posted were of ones you made? Casey's have his contact information on them. I didn't see that on the pics you posted. By the looks of them I doubt you could claim the contact information stickers came off when you were cleaning them.

I want to thank everyone who has posted on this thread, Jim included. Having feedback whether it is positive or negative is needed, it helps us to improve our products and our customer service. We have always tried our best to rectify any problems any of our customers have had. When Jim pointed out that he had a chondro escape, it was very helpful to Casey and he did some modifications to make sure it would not happen again. Jim, I spoke to you at the Tinley Park show in October. You did not mention anything to me about the racks. If you had, I am certain that Casey would have replaced the rack with one of his older styles that were the same size as your first two. The one you bought at the Grand Rapids show was after some design changes and yes, the size is very slightly different. Casey does all he can to keep his customers happy. Your original post sounds a bit hostile, we have never been friends but I do not know where the hostility is coming from. How are we supposed to address the issue of the rack sizes if you do not let us know? Unfortunately, a lot of businesses have an unhappy customer at some point, we do our best to work with anyone who is having a problem with our reptiles or products.
Again, thank you to everyone who gives us feedback (we like the positive better ;) ) but it all helps us.
Darla

Casey, I opoligize to you, By saying the product sucks, I probably to grudge out to far. The product works great except for my escapes, I should have worded it different by saying the product has flaws. The third unit I purcahsed was a different size and I still have not even used it. Finding out that you changed a few things was new to me. and by me first telling you that I had a escape and me wanting a replacement, I gave you the option of offering and you did not so there was probably comunication errors and I held hard feelings toward this. And with me saying things to you at the show about your doors was not meant in critisisim but meant to be conserned in my opinion. And by me saying in email about the welds was also not critisisim.
So I opoligize for saying they suck.
With my units the only thing I am woried about is escapes other then that they funtion very well.
And you say you fixed this problem.

No Problem, apology accepted.

If you give me the exact size of the "older" units, I will make one that size and trade it for the one the one you got at Grand Rapids. We will be at the GR show in May, the 3rd I think so we can swap. I will also repair the other one, I have some very thin (1mm) plastic that should work very nicely. See ya.

I was greatly apalled by the comments Jim has made about the Snake Shack racks! Wow! My jaw hit the floor! I have now 4 racks (two 6 qt and two 15 qt) which I had acquired from three different transactions and couldn't be happier! One of my racks (I believe it was one of my 15qts) came in cracked due to shipper error, and Casey offered a replacement or discount on my next purchase. I took the discount on my next order.

I house hatchling cornsnakes in the 6qt bins, and I've never had an escape.

I'm happy that an agreement has been made in regards to the problem...

I know all of you are looking down on me for posting this.
What you do not realize to see is that my racks were made probably when Casey first started out, and your racks that do not have escapes is because your racks were redesigned after I had escapes as Darla posted on the other page.
And I was not given any remidy for my cages, I was basicly told ( HuH) with no fix.
So my racks have more of a gap than yours do.
