Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just picked up two new baby balls.... one seems to be a really pretty normal, but this one looks to be either a reduced pattern or a bp with an under developed stripe down it's back. He has an unbroken stripe extending almost half his body. Anyways any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Thank you darlin. I'm just starting to learn breeding. So if I may ask, do you possibly think this one may have future generations with the unbroken stripe pattern?

Possibly. All you have to do is breed it out. :)

I do have to say, however, that the unbroken neck pattern is not all that uncommon. It is the complete stripers that are more rare.

And then, there are the genetic stripers.. *sigh* One of these days.....

lol...ya I know wut you mean.... one of these days. but ya as you can see I'm not experianced. Right now I'm doing a lot of reading and research and preparing for the future. They are still babies... so i got a while. Hopefully I will be gaining an axanthic and albino later this year, and yield some snowballs ;) so ya... lol I know wut you mean. high hopes eh?

Ty, what you have there is a normal unless breeding proves otherwise, striping is common in ball pythons. :)

It is a pretty normal though. :D

Thanx Ed. You advice is always valued here, I appreciate that you took the time to leave me a comment. hoping I may get lucky, being the people I got them from, got them from someone else that supposedly got them from a breeder. lol. They haven't had an easy time. So I am gonna do my best with them and cross my fingers and treat them good regardless of what they are. Otherwise, I'd have no business owning any animal.

Just to give an idea how I received them...
They came in a jimmy rigged 10 gal tank with barely anything in it for them, just a hide and water bowl, they were kept in cedar bedding, both were and still are a little under nourished... I fed them and they acted liek they never had a meal in their life. There was feces and dirt caked in the corners of the cage, with plenty of old feces in the litter and stuck to hide, just plain filthy. They had a 150 watt infrared light on them on top of this tiny cage, and a heat pad on the INSIDE of the cage!!!! not to mention with no rheostat or temp gage or anything. The water bowl was black on the bottom with slime. I'm surprised that they are in as good of condition they are. Both are fairly healthy. One has some dry spots from bad shed, I'm taking care, on top of head. Not the worst by far. But still... anyways... they are in good hands now. I did go off on the people though lol.

OMG..

People need to stop having pets they dont think they need to take care of properly.

Glad you got them before anything horrid happened!

I can vouch for it being normal. My Lickity has the same broken stripe down her body. Very pretty though. Kudos for taking good care of these babies.

Snow Balls

You do understand that Albino x Axanthic will NOT give you Snows? You would need to breed the normal looking, albeit Double Het offspring to eventually get a Snow.

Dave

Thanx for the kudos.... I do it outta my love for herps.

But no I did not know that.... like I'm still learning and researching and trying to... ya know, just overall get as much knowledge as I possibly can. I still ahve awhile befoer I ahve the full knowledge to attempt breeding... so I'm not 100% naive about it lol. But thank you for that bit of info. I was going on what I read, that it was the only way to get a snow. So thank you.

It is the only way to get a Snow, but you have to breed your second (filial) generations (Double Hets) together to actually even get the chance to produce snows... 1 in 16 to be exact.

It takes a bit of getting used to if you don't have much background in genetics, but its fun to learn!

yes it is very much so ;) Hope fully I will be in class this fall to be on my way to get my degree bio then zoology then study herps and try for a degree in genetics.... but from what I saw for that curriculum for genetics, OH MY GOD!!!! lol.... anyways thanx.

beautiful little babies! Both of them have their own cool traits! hold onto them and breed them into the future and see of some of those traits carry over!

oh that's not even the best pic... here is all 3 together, and you definitely see the color and pattern variations.... one has a lot of yellow and white compared to the others... Check it out, one big happy family ;) lol

The one on the right is my female, her pattern is very ummmm... word.... unorganized is the best. She looks like one of those paintings where people just throw pain up on th canvas lol..

The second, in middle, is a male... his pattern is very symmetric and organized...

Third is my other female of the topic, her color is so much different which why it made me think, and her pattern is even more so organized.

I'm very happy to have been graced with the pleasures of owning thses snakes... all of them are teddy bears

one other question...

I have a question that arose today. While at work I ran into a guy who claimed to be a breeder.... he said something about being able to tell a het for piebald or a certain by the underbelly. He described a cream or a LIGHT brown or pinkish tone. Is this true?

Ok I stand corrected.... I did a lot of reading and studying. And while doing thing I ran into a breeder, Gerriwitz reptiles I think they are called.... and they described my little male to a "t". Blushing on the side to underbelly, with a defined light spot in the middle back of head. They labeled this morph as Het for Ivory. I dunno, I know for definite there is something there. Just not sure what. I guess I will have to keep my panties on.... for the next couple of years till I have some hatchlings and breed a female back to him. The only thing I'm beating my head against the wall for is that I have no idea of the percentage of the het he has. But I saw the picture of a het for Ivory, and like holy **** that's, Oscar!!! He has the spot on his head and the yellow/blushing belly.

Anyways, just a side note. We had a vet visit yesterday. They all have a clear bill of health.

Try looking here......this will sort out more of what an actual Yellowbelly (het for ivory) looks like. There is no "percent het" to a yellowbelly, either they are or aren't.

The het pied markers are still a debatable topic, there is no 100% guarantee that it is a foolproof method of telling, as there are complete normals that can have the traits....but when keeping back possible het pieds, they seem to be fairly predicatable. There is a lot more to the het pied markers than just belly color as well...
