    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi, I have a tegu that was my husband's we are getting a divorce and he left him with me. And I have been reading lots online but it seems to say all different things. I need info on heating lights feeding like varying his diet he's been eating mice and ground Turkey he is in a 9x11 room with 2 heat sources under his lights averages 85-90° is this hot enough any info will help

if the ambient is 85 that is perfect but the surface temp of his basking area should be around 100-115 degrees. tegus arent too picky when it comes to food. You should vary the diet and offer a lg variety of insects (adult dubias and hissers for adults) worms like tomatohorns and earthworms. Rodents and chicks should also be offered, and fruit and veggies should also be offered. Make sure hes got UV

i tried giving him the big cockroaches but it freaked me out they are so creepy ! lol hes been eating mice and hornworms.is a 90 gal tank big enough for him hes 3 ft he get out a lot tho and what brand uv light do you recommend how often can he have chicks? someone told me he can have eggs and can dog food and to put potting soil in his tank is that right?

also someone told me to put him back in his tank because the humidity he would need would rot my walls and they dont do well in free range environment is this true? how do i measure the humidity and they said temp gun is a must have but i dont have money to get one till i get my taxes back he has a digital thermometer. he has a 100 watt light should i go to a 150 watt

Free range can be difficult to achieve just because of the possible mishaps you can have like getting stuck behind or under a piece of furniture, although i have seen dedicated keepers do it with no problems. I would recommend a custom built enclosure, especially if its a true black and white as they can get fairly large, a floor space of 6-8ft Long by 3-4 feet wide would be ideal, and larger is always better. Feeding them rodents and chicks should be done 2-3 times a week at most, overfeeding rodents to lizards like tegus and monitors often leads to obesity with can be fatal. NO DOGFOOD AND NO CATFOOD, why? because dog food is for dogs, and cat food is for cats, keep it simple and stick with rodents as chicks instead of the dog and cat food. Again, tegus are garbage disposals and will eat just about anything you can give them, do not forget to include fruit and veggies into its diet as well. Zoomed Powersun bulbs are my favorite, they have UVB, UVA, and Heat all in one bulb. Potting soil as a substrate is fine, though i like to mix it up with some cypress mulch for added drainage.
