In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok here goes I have a problem and hope someone can come up with a "Normal Solution" I have a 66% Het for albino female boa that was breed with a albino male and I know That the female is prego ok now the Problem I went to S.C.in at the end of Nov (family reasons) came back on the 7th of Jan to find out my female developed "Mouth Rot " :hot: I had left her in what I thought was good hands (Big mistake) anyway I had the vet come and check her out and was prescribed "Ceftazidime" been cleaning her mouth with a diluted benidine(sp) solution the infection seems to be gone BUT the skin in her mouth has seperated in a small area from her jaw .....Now the vet tells me she may require surgery and the anastesia(sp) my kill the babies I am really worried about this and could use some advice...so please HELP Thanks in Advance

Well, IMHO, I'd do the surgery and risk the loss of the babies. After all, if you lose the babies, that's one litter down the drain, but if you lose the breeder, you've probably lost the babies as well *and* need to find a new breeder female.

Henry

Could you post pictures of the mouth? If it's not immediately life threatening you may want to hold off.

A second opinion is definately in order.

I dont have a Digi to show picture of the mouth ..I dont think it life threatning she seems to be able to eat but only 1 mouse But I did make an appointment at Cornell Animal Hospital for tues They told me the same thing Henry did If I lose the babies at least I save the breeder ..its a 50/50 chance We were looking so forward to this ..but If we lose the babies it just wasn't meant to be this time around.....

If necessary, could you just feed her lots of mice until she drops? If she continues to eat at all that is. I've had gravid females that refused to eat for months at a time.

Best of luck on this one.

Just wanted to say thank you to all who replied She is going to be fine they "Cornell" said that surgery wouldnt be needed its not that bad of a case to warrant it,also just keep cleaning with the betadine solution and admin .75 cc of ceftazidime every 3 days and "She Is going to give birth to a good size clutch ....I love sonagrams(sp) so all is well thanks again :)

 I will Wes Its the first thing on my list to do thanks again for your input and keep up the good work of letting those bad guys have it

Cheri,She is doing really good The mouth is healing slowly adminstiring 0.75cc's of antibiotic 3times a week. she is more active and at this rate by the time she delivers 90% of her mouth will be healed And she ate a small rat which is a good sign will keep you posted on any new developments

BIll,

That is just great news... so she did not have the surgery and it is healing on its own?

Since you said by the time she delivers, so I assume either she did not have to have it or she and the babies came through fine?

Please do let me know when the babies arrive and how they do... we have been trying to collect data on any meds giving to gravid reptiles and any effect it may have had on the offspring. So far we only have some browning of the eggs of a bearded dragon on Baytril, what looks like crystals formed on some other eggs of a beared dragons.

Besides, I just want to see the babies! Your not that far from us, are you planning on having any at shows in the area?

Cheri it is healing on its own i went for 1hr consult on the pros and cons of having the surgery it was advised that she stay on the ceftazidime and clean with betadine for 2 weeks if there was no improvement then we would discuss the operation but she seems to be responding so Im going to stay with this option .I havent really thought about doing shows I just got back into snakes after my divorce but you never know what will happen down the road :rotflmao: and when she does give birth the pictures will be posted all over this site

8" is not that big ;)

LMAO, Okay, I was really looking at the name... Clearwater when responding and it does not show your location on the reply threads, just the name and I was thinking Clearwater, Florida... forgot you guys in the north also have reptiles

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the pics and hearing a good outcome story

:bow01: Im here to give thanks to the "Reptile Gods" I went to give her antibiotic shot this AM and Notice a 99% healing ....and She ate 2 medium rats I was happy and dont for see this happening ever again fingers crossed thanks again everybody for your support :wavey:

Great News!! I am really glad for you and her

Do you have an approximate date for the babies? You better be taking pics and posting them ;)
